Explore a world of bouncing and blasting in Filtration, an indie action game where you harvest power sources across 12 unique dimensions. Whirligig Studios brings you a puzzle-filled journey with robotic foes standing between you and victory.

About this game

From the developer that brought you Quaternion comes a new ball-rolling platform challenge that's bigger, better, and full of surprises! Jump, bounce, blast, and fly through 12 pocket dimensions in order to harvest the precious power sources within. Find Modules that let your ball do things you've never seen before at the touch of a button. With robotic foes and tricky puzzles in your way, it's gonna take a lot more than Ion Cells to get through this!

Filtration is a single-player puzzle platform game. By rolling a robotic ball, you'll explore and unlock the secrets of the lost Amali civilization, along with hints as to where they might have gone. Along the way, you'll find Modules, expansion units to plug into your ball and increase its capabilities, adding abilities like a protective shield, a rocket engine, and a pair of wings. The game provides a balance of tricky platforming, brain-tickling puzzles, and action combat in order to explore every corner of the ball-rolling genre.

Features include:

  • 12 main levels, along with several small bonus levels

  • An expansive Split Complex hub

  • 12 Planck Cores for you to collect

  • 12 Modules to power up your ball

  • 30,000 Ion Cells

  • Unlockable upgrades to your abilities

  • An awesome soundtrack

  • And more!

    Filtration v1.2.0 (2026-08-26): Minimaps!

Filtration v1.2.0 is here! It adds a new feature that should help you navigate the game's mazelike levels: Minimaps.Minimaps are available from the beginning of the game, showing the basic geometry of whatever level you're in. The room you're currently in will be highlighted, and any rooms you haven't found yet will be shown in a dull gray. You can configure the minimap from the accessibility options. There, you can turn it off if it's bothering you, or you can change it to use a top-down perspective! This is the last planned content update in Filtration for the time being--from here on out, we're going to focus on our next game projects, including the Quaternion remake. That doesn't mean there will never be more Filtration--if there's enough interest, who knows? But for now, the game's in a pretty finished state!Fixes:Improved some heap allocation, hopefully resulting in faster load times, but we can't say for sure. The ball no longer appears to hover in the air after getting sucked into a portal.Fixed an issue where some pools would appear a strange blue color when on low graphics.Improvements:Minimaps have been added to the game (see above).Oil shaders have been greatly improved for better visual clarity.

    Filtration v1.1.0 (2026-06-20): Time Trials!

The first significant update to Filtration since its initial release, Filtration v1.1.0, is here! It features a major new feature for those who have beaten the game and want an extra challenge: Time Trials. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45370125/03bfb1a4c97da375866e3d519679247337233772.jpg After you finish the game, you can now play any of the 12 main levels in a Time Trial! In order to do so, simply select the Time Trial option from the level's portal list in the level menu. Then, complete the level as quickly as you can! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45370125/c7ec6215244675f29a1a8a6a66b6f3d36c046024.jpg You can view your best time for each level in the hub's level progress room. There's also a hidden Quantum Time for each level, so try to beat that if you can! (There's also a super-secret second time if you're really fast, so keep an eye out...) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45370125/89f7153ec5aa38dd52f2bbf3e34efe075db625fa.png Note that Time Trials don't count towards your completion percentage as displayed on your save file, so those of you who already 100% completed the game, don't worry--that badge of honor is still just as shiny now. However, we've added 13 new Steam achievements for getting Quantum Times, so be sure to have a go at those. Fixes: A character of Amali text on the level menu had been upside-down this whole time. It's fixed. An Ion Pack inside the geometry in the Belfry has been moved. A rare circumstance where the save file could become locked when solving puzzles in the Horosphere has been fixed. Fixed an issue with the Laboratory's laser calculation code. A certain mushroom no longer sounds like glass. It's not as easy to get out of bounds in the Horosphere without dying. Hitting Cybur's tiles should no longer sometimes trip them twice. Adjusting menu options with the mouse has been made much smoother. It should no longer be possible to accidentally unlock the Belfry's 100% achievement. Fixed a music issue that could occur while pausing during the Quaver fight. Jump and Adhe...

    Filtration v1.0.4 (2026-03-22)

Filtration v1.0.4 is live! This is an extremely small update with just a single change.Fixes:A save corruption glitch has been mitigated. We couldn't find the source of the corruption, but the game will now refuse to save if it detects a save file with no Modules but with the first level completed. The save file will also be backed up as you progress through the game.

    Filtration v1.0.3 (2026-01-06)

Filtration v1.0.3 is live! This is a relatively small update to get the last few easily-fixed known issues out of the way before focusing on bigger changes/improvements. Fixes: The Orrery's gravity is fixed, along with several other small issues caused by an earlier change to spawn code. Rolling sounds no longer flicker on and off of being muted when climbing walls in the Horosphere. Hitting water with invincibility on no longer messes up the physics.
