About this game

The Duck Amikaze Strikes Back, is a retro style, challenging 2D precision platformer, with a touch of satirical humor.

Earning medals isn’t required to finish the game… And if you prefer, you can hide the timer in the accessibility options… but GOLD medals are the only way to become THE DUCK LEGEND!

Show mother nature who is the real apex predator!

Just like in the story of David and Goliath, be cunning like a... Duck!

The Duck Amikaze, just as the mighty Phoenix rises from the ashes, will always Strikes Back!

Travel through 5 different regions, and hunt to ashes all the hunters nearby your duck nest to avenge your family, eaten by those... humans.

But beware the wildlife of those regions… savage animals might try to eat some of your crispy duck tenders as you charge headlong into each hunter’s hut.

Try to collect the 4 vegetables in each level of the game, sometimes well hidden behind secret walls. But beware of the traps set by the hunter!

  • Accessibility:

    • Select Easy Mode in the option menu to have infinite hearts and infinite jumps if you struggle.

    • You can adjust the deadzone value of your controller's joystick to prevent joystick drift/drifting on older/rusty controllers. The value can be set from 20% min to 80% max (with 0% meaning permanent joystick drifting, and 100% meaning the joystick does not register any input at all).

    • If you prefer you can hide the three User Interface element separately : hearts, collectible, timer, from the option menu.

Once you beat the game in either easy or normal mode, you'll unlock Hardcore Mode, where just one hit turns you into... crispy duck tenders.

Prove yourself worthy by earning all the golden duck medals, to become THE Duck Legend!

My new game It's Chopping Time! Demo is out! check it and play it if you want!

Yeah-yeah-yeah, thunderstruck! After 4 months of hard work, here it is! My new indie game's demo is officially released on Steam! Please play It's Chopping Time! Demo and give me your feedback, as it's the best way for me to improve! https://store.steampowered.com/app/4272390/Its_Chopping_Time_Demo/ This is a 100% hand-drawn game by me! I'm really proud of the progress I've done since my last game, I bet you can tell it too! It's Chopping Time! Demo is a short incremental game about chopping down trees on a secluded island by using your mouse and the lightning strikes! In this demo you'll only have access to the lightning strikes, which are overpowered on purpose to give you a taste of the mighty endgame unlimited power! But this is just one of the 5 forces of nature that will be featured in the final game! This demo is about 20-30minutes and is meant to give you a taste of the full power of the final game! Please don't hesitate to give me your feedback with a Steam review as it's the best way for me to enhance my work and learn from my mistakes, and to make the best final full game version in the end! I hope you'll enjoy my Demo! Have a nice week, and may the thunder light your way!

    Please Add A Review!

Since the game's release, on 17 June, I've listened to every feedback I could get my hands on, and handled every single one troubleshooting issue that you guys gave me, and I wanted to thank you all for that, as it's very important for me to get those feedback to know what you would like in the game. I always do my best, but after working a long time on the same project, I can't see some issues anymore, so again a huge thanks! To only quote those few: I've improved the learning difficulty curve of the game by adding more checkpoints in the first 4 levels of the game. adding infinite hearts in easy mode for those who really struggle too much on certain levels. adding accessibility features like changing the joystick's deadzone of the controllers by more than 20% default value, to prevent joystick drifting on older controllers. Or some minor tweaks, such as resetting the chrono if you die without ever having touched a checkpoint. But most importantly I've updated the game cover, handmade this time around so that it fits my game's art style and therefor my very first indie game is close to a perfect state, where I think everything is as good as it can be. Please consider adding one review yourself 🙏 I desperately need to reach 10 reviews so that the Steam algorithm can show my game to way more people. There are different milestones for review numbers: 10, 50, 100, 500. However, as long as I don't reach at least 10 reviews, I'm unable to rise at all. I'm always open to hear your thoughts & feedback, and no matter how long, whether they are 7 paragraphs or 1 word, I read each one of them. It's a tiny action from you, but it has a thousandfold impact for me. Thank you so much for your support, it truly means the world to me! Alexandre

New hand-drawn Key Art patch 1.2.0 is up for The Duck Amikaze Strikes Back!

Hello everyone, today marks the big identity change (a new cover slash key art) for my very first game on Steam The Duck Amikaze Strikes Back (as well as its Demo version). The new game cover is there! Hand-drawn, and pixelated, way more related to my game's artstyle as some people gave me in negative feedback for my first version. Now everything is perfect, when I look behind me, it's all shiny! Initially my first game cover was made with the help of an AI, partially, especially because I didn't know I was good enough to draw it myself back then. But also because I felt it was fine even tho I agree that it wasn't great. And finally because making a game takes a long amount of time, especially the first one, so I wanted to reduce the overall time needed to make it to the end, and still doing a game to the best of my abilities at that point in time. But some players brought this to my attention as a negative feedback, and also that the cover itself doesn't represent the game, especially because it's a pixelart game so the cover should go into that direction. I realized than even tho we are in a world where AI is starting to spread everywhere without much control, people tend to avoid or prevent themselves to play or buy things related to AI. Even tho it was only used for my game cover, which was just a funny advertising/visual for me at first. But this still puts a barrier in front of some player which refuse to even try my demo which I think is a sad shortcut, but I also perfectly understand their point. No matter what it is, we all want to buy stuff that is as perfect as it can be, and nowadays the word "Hand-drawn" seems to be selling on its own. All that paragraph to say that my first intention with my very first game was to make the best game I could, alone, from start to finish, as good as possible, with as many features I could (achievements+leaderboard+remapping system to only quote those few), and as fast as possible. While also find a way that everyone coul...

Big User-friendly patch 1.1.0 is up for The Duck Amikaze Strikes Back!

Hello everyone, today marks a big user-friendly update for my very first game on Steam The Duck Amikaze Strikes Back (as well as its Demo version). After some time thinking about what was lacking in my first game, receiving feedback from here and there, I realized that : 1.) Some players miss the information about the fact that there is an easy mode, and so on, they don't know what it could bring them, and they stop playing because the game is too hard for them. 2.) Some players who found the easy mode and use it, still struggle way too much even with the current bonuses it provides, and so they also stop playing because the game is too hard for them. In other words, the easy mode is not easy enough. 3.) My pause option menu miss some options, like being able to change the joysticks deadzone, instead of the default 20%, also some options are not at the most logical place, so I'll update those. 'Game' & 'Accessibility' sub-options brings ambiguity because the difficulty can be changed from the 'Game' but the logic approach would be to put it in the 'Accessibility'. Therefor, 'Game' will be replaced by 'Language' as its the only sub-options left in there. Finally, I'll split the 'Controls' in two, one part for the keyboard, and one for the controller, just like I did in my second game. -> It would be way more user-friendly that way, even for me. On this patch 1.1.0, I'll handle all those issues : ------------------------------------------------------ For the point 1.) : I'll add one screen between the main menu and the world map, so that the players can select the difficulty from there, and not only from the pause option menu. Player won't ever miss the existence of the easy mode, and they will also be able to get some lore. I'll add one or two sentence, so that players who don't read the Steam page, knows that Amikaze doesn't blow up farmers who are minding their own business, but bad hunters who did eat its entire family. Not much lore, yet some people missed it and...
