Venomous
Pick your poisonJust a quick update out the bagIf you watched Gameplay Trailer 3 of Cobra Strike recently, you may have noticed our latest actor, the Venom. Huey's younger and stronger brother comes with twin mini guns on its hard-points additionally to unguided rockets. Surely no tank buster (see video mini gun stress test), but a nightmare for non-armored vehicles and foot soldiers. This snake bites best on light troop formations. Also convenient if it's payback time or you need to take-out some German skyscraper terrorists and twenty, twenty-five percent of the hostages, maximum.Venom Mini Guns Frame Rate Stress Test Thanks for all your feedback!Over the past few days, I've received so much feedback from all of you that it has simply overwhelmed us.Please keep it up!Without your participation and all your proposals, wishes, comments and references recognition, this would simply not be possible!I think our team and I are on the right track to meet your expectations and live up to your standards. We'll all continue to work on making Cobra Strike a game that does justice to the inspiration behind it.Thank you so much!Sincerely, somasolo and the Cobra Strike SquadRead full article on Community Announcements (somasolo)AnnouncementsOfficial
Gameplay Trailer #3: Blood Toll
Advanced drone warfare in Cobra StrikeAttack helicopters integrate with drones on the modern battlefieldThe Viper Commando proudly presents the third gameplay trailer of COBRA STRIKE.Watch the new trailer here:"Discover your original favorites with one new freshly arrived gunship plus other aircraft while watching them in close-range combat and action-packed encounters."I announced this on the last trailer and this is still (or again) true. There is one new "actor" to be discovered in the gameplay trailer No. 3, which comes with a devastating twin-weapon, especially effective against non- and light-armored targets. Check it out!You may noticed lots of unmanned aerial vehicles in the trailer. These will be playing a big role through the whole campaign as well as providing the tools to counter them.Be aware of those drone barrages: you might rather destroy the launch sources of these buzzing delta wings and multicopters first. They are dangerous by the numbers!Don't worry! Your allies are mastering these drones on every occasion. Remember to support your drone teams against enemy assault troops. They are vital to keep the pressure on the invading forces high. Keep them away from everything you can and they will help destroy to the level of scourged earth. And who knows - maybe you get even a chance to pilot a UAV by yourself.EVAC/CASEVAC missions and localsWhile Cobra Strike is all about obliterating the enemy unit by unit, chunk by chunk, bit by bit, pixel by pixel. Different helicopters serve different roles. Not every chopper is a gunship and doing combat sorties. On the battlefields, not everything is a target, because people do live there too:Civilians can now be mass evacuated in certain landing areas. Doing so will motivate the local resistances to support you with intel, hidden supplies, or even combat force. So watch your fire and keep an eye on the ground! It's not always clear which one is blue or red.Going rogue and spraying your deadly self-propelled projec...Read full article on Community Announcements (somasolo)AnnouncementsOfficial
Winch/Resources + Ladder/Climbers
"Will there be resources in Cobra Strike?"Since this question comes up at regularly daily basis - I move this topic up: Yes! Yes, of course. That's an integral part of the gameplay of Cobra Strike, just like it was back then.Let me show you:The WinchYou pick up your resources with the winch, including fuel, armor and ammo as well as special equipment and power-ups. Some are directly visible while others are hidden (see below). For your convenience and on lower difficulty settings specific landing zones grant supplies and automatic refill of these.Disrupt enemy supply lines though jacking fuel right off the bed!Video game logic: blow up a gas station to get fuel. Conveniently this station also provides kerosene.Additionally the winch has an air lift mode for retrieving special objects like awesome prototype blades from ancient times."Let's howl a$$ out of here!"The Rope LadderWith the the rope ladder you can rescue allies and capture hostiles to gather valuable intel an the battlefield. First hand information directly from the front line provide high valuable mission-specific intel."It's not the aircraft, it's the pilot!" - Actually it's also about the aircraft in this mission.Hostiles are not quite eager to board your helicopter, so you have to chase them down.Tries to outrun an attack helicopter with a catcher on the rope's end.So working with both of these tools is very important to complete your missions and objectives. Choose your time of resource pickups wisely, scout out hidden stashes and tag those sneaky runners!Next up: "Flight Physics" - How to pilot a helicopter in Cobra Strike-somasoloRead full article on Community Announcements (somasolo)AnnouncementsOfficial

The DNA of Cobra Strike
Status updateExcept of releasing 3 video trailers and some Q/A on the Steam discussions, I did not provide any background information of Cobra Strike. To be honest very little at all in the last time. So…What is Cobra Strike really about?Actually I wanted to make Cobra Strike a more like Soviet Strike inspired game back in the day, but it turned out, it's both now: Desert and Soviet Strike. I hope the best of both. I added the older retro-aspects later actually, but when it comes to the QoL-features, it's more of a modern approach of a helicopter simulation game, but also with the things that are so beloved from past days. Art direction only changed slightly since then (see screenshot), but evolved greatly since then.First public in-game screenshot of Cobra StrikeWhy the Cobra?Well, because everybody is doing the famous and popular Apache, right? But that's not the only and not the most important reason (while the Apache is playable too). The Cobra was the first attack helicopter of its art back then and we can see, that "old" tech is more and more revived on current battlefields. Despite the Cobra has been updated regularly since then to the Zulu Cobra as of today of course.Further inventions of war machinery are displayed and engaged also in Cobra Strike (see trailers), while this was never my intention in the first place. I call it "coping with the current Zeitgeist with some documentary of current events in it". Compare SCUD vs. S-400 for example. That happened to Desert Strike also by the way.Anyway Cobra Strike will go much deeper, when it comes to strategy and tactics. It is built as an arcade shooter though, but flying around like a saucer, dodging rockets and stuff will not work most of the time. Simulation is big here:Your gunship has inertia and follows the laws of actual aerial physics in some gameplay suitable way.So pilot with skill and caution, mind your attack and retreat vectors, keep an eye on your resources and capture intel-carriers wherever you c...Read full article on Community Announcements (somasolo)
