Hexroll Has Hit a Major Development Milestone

Hexroll has been in development for a few months now, but I'm proud to say that I'm finally confident in the direction it is going, both visually and mechanically. I have been gathering feedback and doing some gameplay tests and want to continue to work towards a game that you all love as much as I do. New VisualsOk this has been the thing I am most excited about. You've probably noticed that Hexroll looks completely different to it's other event posts. I wanted to take Hexroll in a direction that put more focus on the portal as a centrepiece, and I wanted to make every UI element as diegetic as possible so naturally there's a few more gadgets you can interact with. The Artefact ShelfMy god do I love the artefact shelf. While the artefacts themselves are pending a visual rework, their place in the scene now feels thematic and awesome. I just love the idea of being a wizard or something and collecting little quirky trinkets on your shelf.Once the artefacts have been reworked, they should fit into the scene a lot better, and they will look like they're actually sitting on the shelf instead of awkwardly floating on top of it like they do currently.Reroll FountainThis huge stone bowl in the corner shows how many rerolls you have remaining in the form of floating d20s. It can be hovered to tell you how many rerolls you have left if you don't want to keep counting them all.The Dice BagHung up just to the right of the portal, you can now click on it to see what dice you currently have. This UI has also been reworked to be split into 2 sections so you now explicitly know what is in your bag, hand, or discard pile at all times so you can plan your rolls accordingly. The Damage ScrollI love tapestries, they're so cool. I'm not gonna lie I really love the theme of this and it might be one of my favourite UI elements because of how well it fits into the scene. Anyways, it serves a purpose besides being pretty, it tallies up the damage total of your rolled dice so you don't have to...

    The Rifts Have Opened!

Hey everyone, super excited to show what I have been working on the last couple weeks! Visual Overhaul We have had a lot of visual changes this time around, with an entirely new background to fit the theme and styling of the rest of Hexroll. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45373038/7cdab1a98be9509bddcfbb1cd972afa53cf90eaf.png Portals The gameplay loop now supports a great deal more player agency than before. Now before combat, the doors will open and you will be given an option between two realms to open a portal to. Each realm has a set of unique abilities that can apply to enemies, allowing you to be a bit more strategic with the battles you pick. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45373038/b9ad568df192e01cb4faa8be17597639db4316cd.gif {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45373038/4b8710c06af74c271fb1c1c83ce2cd50b87fb1c7.png Otherworldly Encounters Scenery and enemies will change upon opening a portal. For now the enemy is the only thing that changes, but in future I would like the whole room to change with themed interactables Hearthstone board style! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45373038/b60e8f93592aa0338985ff935839a0ca79c58424.png Don't forget to wishlist if you haven't already and tell your friends about my upcoming dicebuilding roguelike!

    Store Revamp and visual changes!

Hello people, welcome to my first update announcement! I wanted to kick this off with a set of quite big changes to the core gameplay loop of Hexroll. Enchantments First off we now have a set of enchantments that you can purchase in the shop which will give powerful boosts to your dice when you roll them. For now we only have a couple, but the framework is there for a LOT of upcoming expansion! Flame Enchantments - Adds extra damage behind your dice rolls. Can be added to both attack, and block dice so you can dish out the damage while staying protected. Shield Enchantment - Adds a bit of defence to your rolls. Perfect for a little protection while you destroy the enemy healthbar. Enchantments can be applied to dice as many times as you want and the visuals will change to showcase all effects active on each dice. Can combo well off artefacts which activate when dealing damage or blocking, and can give you MASSIVE value with roll doubling artefacts! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45373038/3701df50ef11a55e3d3b891bd59df203243dce16.png Readability With all these visual effects going on it's hard to keep track of what's what. To help this I gave the dice a card-styled visual which features a little gem in the corner to tell you what the base dice type is (attack, or block.) This can be expanded upon in the future to show icons of the different enchantments on the dice, and descriptions of these icons will be shown on the hover tooltip, Hearthstone style. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45373038/c548e196417247b60b2ed864fb1d88e970ff40c3.png Dice Bag Display Using the bottom right button, you can now view the contents of your dice bag! The UI will fill out with all the dice in your bag and their enchantments, and be greyed out if they are in your hand or the discard pile. Planning out a move that requires a specific die? Check out the dice bag menu to see if you might draw it next turn! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45373038/b8e5dad3c33091b16b0200d03b60baa6f7d8665d.png I think that just about does it for the ...
