Manage magical sheep by day and defend them from forest threats at night in Sheepdog, an action-packed indie strategy experience from dubious fungi.

About this game

Sheepdog is a cheeky micro-strategy roguelite about herding magical sheep by day and defending them from the forest by night.

By day, the meadow belongs to the sheep. By night, the forest comes to collect.

In Sheepdog, you play a loyal dog guarding an aging wizard’s flock of magical, coin-pooping sheep at the edge of an ancient forest. Guide them to rich pasture, keep them close, and grow your flock — because every sheep you protect today is more coin to invest before darkness returns.

As the sun sets, shadows slip between the trees. Creatures emerge, drawn to wool and magic. Bark to taunt them away from the herd, kite them across the field, and lure them into the reach of rams, wards, and awakened megaliths. The wizard’s crooked hut offers ever-stranger upgrades, but it’s up to you to decide how to shape each night’s defenses.

Mysterious stones react to coin, runes alter your bark, and certain sheep shimmer with unusual power. Learn how these pieces fit together through play: experiment with wizard builds, discover synergistic megalith layouts, and find out just how long you can keep the forest at bay.

Features

  • Herd, grow, and protect your flock – Move sheep across the field, keep them together, and turn their magical “drops” into the coin that fuels your defenses.

  • Build your own defenses – Upgrade the wizard’s hut, awaken scattered megaliths, and recruit rams as living bulwarks to create killzones that fit your style.

  • Master the bark & kiting – Use the dog’s bark to draw aggro, peel enemies off stolen sheep, and drag threats through your traps instead of straight through your flock.

  • Survive escalating nights – Each wave brings new forest creatures, patterns, and pressure, forcing you to rebalance economy, defenses, and risk.

  • Chase better runs and stranger builds – Experiment with different upgrade paths and relics from run to run, uncovering synergies that turn a fragile meadow into a fortress.

  • Soak in a cozy, ominous atmosphere – Wander a tranquil pixel-art meadow that feels safe… right up until the treeline starts to move.

Protect the flock, outwit the forest, and see how many mornings you and your sheep will live to see.
