We’re revamping the UI! With the Kickstarter coming up around the corner and having a lot of the gameplay mechanics polished, the team wanted to take some quality time and improve the UI, if you thought Gear Slayer was looking good before, you should check it out now! Below are some Before vs After videos to give everyone a comparison Core Conversion Thanks to the feedback from the community, we realized how much the players appreciated the wheel concept for Core Conversion. Having the wheel set up this way helps us keep the game flow feel fluid and constantly moving. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45466176/d8c1339eb669ddd086bbb3353e372e495478d9db.gif Battle Priority and Attack How gears initiate battle needed a lot of reworking, it become too clunky having to click your card, click across the screen to attack, so we want to keep everything centered around your card. With the new UI changes, you will see the “sword” icon above the cards ATK power. This icon indicates the card is ready to attack, now combat is only one-click away. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45466176/50c195a6e87232b479366134ab457b4d53ca5410.gif Expanded View One of the most important changes we started with is the expanded view. Being able to look at your card from any stage in battle, and being able to read your card clearly. Players can now get a better idea of the cards they are selecting with the new version of the expanded view, or sit back and enjoy the amazing artwork on each card. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45466176/e7fac2f4624ed0378c758a2131a59a4025d1d80c.gif We’re not done with the UI, we are only getting started, some of the next items on our list for UI fixes are: - Better player UI, with more details and clarity - Card Stat UI: when a card is equipped or affected by another, a UI will appear next to it to show which card is linked to it., - A menu to resume, quit and turn on/off sound (not urgent but good for QOL) - Revise the VFX and improving them to make them pop out more - UI outside of battlefield (main menu, s...Read full article on Community Announcements (Hybrid Theory Games)AnnouncementsOfficial
Weekly Blog 6
Welcome back to another weekly blog at Gear Slayer TCG! This week, we’ve focused primarily on a few factors, such as power balancing, UI issues, and fine-tuning the specific mechanics involved for each keyword. We’ve also been refining the Kickstarter page by adding new GIFS and many new images, including the roadmap for Gear Slayer! There’s been a ton of changes and improvements, so let’s dive in. Let’s talk about Elemental Combat In Gear Slayer, there are 7 different elements you can fight with, each having its own weakness and resistance. This is why it’s crucial to keep a close eye on the elements in question, as your opponent can change yours or their element and resistance. In the video, the opponent has turned my Aqua card into a Fire type, and with Bri being a water type, puts the opponent at an elemental advantage. Cards with an elemental advantage will gain a +1 ATK buff during attack. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45466176/b1a852521a911daa0e7531986550c43ec30df9be.gif Raine's Hazard & Attack Keyword If you’ve ever noticed Raine has two icons on her card, which indicate two different keywords, these are: Hazard: Plant 3 Venom Markers into your opponent’s Deck Attack: If Venom Markers are in the opponent’s Deck, the targeted gear loses 1ATK during combat. With the Hazard Keyword, you will place 3x Venom Markers into your opponent's deck whenever Raine is summoned onto the field. Now, this is where the twist comes with Raine's effect. The Attack Keyword comes into effect only when that gear initiates an attack. So if Raine initiates an attack on an enemy card, as long as there are venom markers in their deck, the card Raine targets will lose a -1ATK. This can give Raine some serious firepower, especially if you keep placing Venom Markers onto your opponent's deck. This debuff might help turn the tide in battle. Remember, not all Attack keywords work the same way. Some equip cards can give you the Attack Keyword, with a different effect. Raine and her Water Type Manipula...Read full article on Community Announcements (Hybrid Theory Games)
