Experience the thrill of physics-driven boxing in Proto Boxing, where every hit matters. Developed by Barricada, this indie sports game delivers stylized realism mixed with ragdoll-based action, creating dynamic and unpredictable matches.
About this game
Step into the ring in a stylized take on boxing where impact, movement, and reaction are pushed beyond strict realism. Fights feel grounded, but never restrained, punches carry weight, bodies react in unpredictable ways, and exchanges can shift from controlled to chaotic in an instant.
Built on a physics-driven system with animated ragdolls, every hit blends intention with simulation. The result is a combat feel that sits between structure and spontaneity: precise enough to control, loose enough to surprise.
The tone leans into the unusual, subtle grotesque details, slightly surreal reactions, and a dry, dark sense of humor woven into the experience. It draws from the spirit of older boxing games that favored personality and impact, while using modern tech to make every moment more visceral.
Key Features
Physics-based combat: Animated ragdolls drive impacts, reactions, and emergent moments.
Stylized realism: Grounded movement with exaggerated outcomes.
Unpredictable exchanges: Fights can quickly shift as physics takes over.
Offbeat tone: Hints of dark humor, grotesque detail, and surreal touches.
Modern immersion: Visuals enhance the intensity without aiming for pure simulation.
Control what you can. Adapt to what you can’t.

So, plans changed a bit... as usual. Just like game design is mostly trial and error, marketing is a completely unknown territory for me, and I honestly didn't plan it out that well.Long story short: I found out I could join the Steam Next Fest in October 2026 with a demo, and it felt like an opportunity I couldn't pass up. Play & Test Proto Boxing
This is an early build, so expect rough edges, weird bugs and maybe a boxer or two spinning in circles. But the foundation is there. What's in right now:Core combat mechanics are fairly advanced but still a work in progress – punches, slips, stamina management, and an AI that doesn't go down easy.Basic boxer customization. Nothing flashy, but enough for a beta playtest.Adjustable gameplay variables so you can tweak the balance to your liking. The overall visual direction is there, even if textures and polish still need plenty of work. The controls are getting a bit complex, but that's the price of adding tactical depth. Would love to hear your thoughts on that especially.Playtest is open, so hit that button and start throwing punches. Feedback is more than welcome.See you in next round.Read full article on Community Announcements (Perimido)
