About this game
Set out on an epic journey to the heart of an uncharted island in the Lost Ruins of Arnak. As an enthusiastic archaeologist, you'll lead your expedition into a realm of ancient secrets, mighty guardians, and powerful artifacts. Can you overcome all the dangers and uncover the mysteries before your rivals?

Deploy your archaeologists to explore the island's jungle and temples thoroughly. Discover new, challenging locations that promise valuable resources but may awaken fearsome Guardians.

Pick the character that best represents your strategy and personality—each one comes with a unique ability and distinct playstyle. With four asymmetrical leaders to choose from, every expedition offers a new path to victory.

Arnak blends the tactical depth of worker placement with the evolving strategy of deck-building. Optimize your turns, plan ahead, and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of the island and your opponents' moves.

Start with a small deck of cards, then build up its strength. As you delve deeper into the jungle, new Item cards become scarcer, giving way to mysterious and powerful Artifacts. Choose wisely when to shift your focus from the Items to the Artifacts to build the strongest deck and overcome any obstacle the island throws your way.

Chain actions together for powerful turns! Find that missing resource to push your research, recruit a helpful ally, or overcome a fearsome guardian—all in a cascade of satisfying tactical combos.

Advance on the Research Track to reach the island’s hidden temple. Studying ancient texts guides you toward the long-lost ruins, with each step granting an immediate bonus and significant end-game points. With careful resource management, this offers some great combos.

The island and its most valuable secrets are protected by mysterious Guardians. Appeasing those mighty creatures of Arnak is a perilous challenge, but once you earn their trust, they will help you on your journey. Fail, and you’ll accumulate “fear” cards, cluttering your deck.

A Quick Update on Lost Ruins of Arnak!
As you might remember, we previously announced that Lost Ruins of Arnak was temporarily on hold. Since then, we have been positively surprised by your responses and the incredible patience you’ve shown us. Seeing support like that made one thing very clear: we really don't want to delay this game any longer than necessary. So, we sat down, re-evaluated our schedule, and shifted our resources. Today, we are happy to assure you that Arnak’s development was only paused for a few short weeks! What’s going on here? While most of our team is still working on our current mystery project (hopefully, we’ll be able to share more about that soon!), we’ve carved out some dedicated time to push Arnak forward. In fact, we are just putting the finishing touches on our tutorial and hint systems.Up next are the short introductory campaigns for each leader... Wait, oh no! We hadn’t actually told you about those yet, had we? Well, I guess the secret is out, so we might as well fill you in! :-)We are planning a short, story-driven campaign for every single leader to introduce them and expand on Arnak’s lore. These campaigns will give you a closer look at the unique strengths and weaknesses of each leader. By playing through them, jumping into regular games will feel much more intuitive. We also hope it makes the experience far more immersive once you get to know the leaders' personalities in deeper detail. What’s Next? Finishing these campaigns is our main goal for this upcoming summer. Meanwhile, as our mystery project wraps up, the entire team is incredibly excited to return to Lost Ruins of Arnak at full throttle. Our next major milestone is to deliver a playable demo to you this Autumn! So, please stay tuned. Tell your friends—or honestly, anyone you pass on the street—about the game, and wish us luck! Together, we're going to make Lost Ruins of Arnak the best game we’ve ever released.Read full article on Community Announcements (UrsusLuin)AnnouncementsOfficial
Designer’s Diary: Can AI Beat Its Creator?
Probably no other phenomenon in the IT world generates as many articles as generative AI of all kinds. And our current Designer’s Diary from the development of Lost Ruins of Arnak will be no exception. This time, however, we might be talking about a slightly different kind of AI than what’s been trending in recent months. This artificial intelligence won’t chat with you or recommend what to visit during a long weekend in Prague. But it will play a balanced game of Arnak with you. Although it may seem like AI has only been around for a short time, that’s certainly not true in the gaming industry. AI opponents—computer-controlled players—have been with us practically since the beginning of gaming. And Lost Ruins of Arnak is no different. If you want to explore the island of Arnak, but your friends don’t have time for a game or two, artificial intelligence can step in.“Let's get one thing clear at the beginning: it’s not a neural network. Our AI is—let’s say—built in a traditional way. It doesn’t learn. All its strategies are already encoded within it. And thanks to its speed, it can simulate many moves ahead and evaluate which one is the most beneficial,” explains Matúš Kotry, one of CGE’s programmers responsible for the AI. He has already created a player-favorite AI for Through the Ages. Now he’s working on Arnak. One Algorithm to Rule Them All“The backbone of any such AI is a tree-search algorithm. In our case, it’s Monte Carlo Tree Search. At the beginning of your turn, you always have a wide range of options—playing a card, advancing on the research track, discovering a location, etc. The opponent can then react in various ways. And so on. All these possibilities of how the game can unfold can be imagined as a tree,” explains Matúš.An average game of Arnak lasts about 40 turns, which in practice means there are roughly 20⁴⁰ possible ways the game might go through. That’s many orders of magnitude more than the number of stars in the observable universe. The magic of...Read full article on Community Announcements (UrsusLuin)AnnouncementsOfficial

We know this isn't the news you were hoping for, and for that, we’re truly sorry. The good news is that we already have an internal playable version of the game, and we promise to release a demo shortly after we’re back in full swing on Arnak. The Mysterious Idols of the Island of Arnak
We encountered signs of an advanced civilization on Arnak almost immediately. From the moment we ventured even a short distance from our base camp on the coast, it was clear that this wasn't the untouched wilderness we originally thought it was.One of the first pieces of evidence of the lost civilization was a small golden statuette. Or rather, I should say statuettes. The first was discovered by Captain Jack Callaham in a modestly furnished cave near the waterfalls, roughly three kilometers from our camp. It rested in a niche carved into the cave wall—likely an improvised altar of some kind. The figure appears to depict a local deity, a person of high standing, or perhaps an island spirit. We don’t know for certain. What we do know is that we gradually uncovered virtually identical statuettes in several other locations across the island. Wherever we ventured, these golden figures seemed to be watching over the ruins. It is clear they held great significance for the island’s former inhabitants. For this reason, several specimens were among the first artifacts to leave the island. We hope that archaeologists and religious scholars from prestigious universities will uncover new insights in their research that help us better understand the beliefs and rituals of the people who once thrived in this remarkable place.In-Game FunctionalityIn Lost Ruins of Arnak, idols are represented as special tokens that players earn as a reward for discovering new locations. Each idol comes with several benefits.First, it provides an immediate effect—such as gaining a free resource, upgrading a resource, or exiling a card from your deck. But that’s not all. Each idol is also worth 3 victory points at the end of the game. And most importantly, at any point later in the game, an idol can be placed into one of the designated slots on your player board to gain one of up to seven rewards. Five of these are shared by all players. If you are playing as one of the Leaders, up to two additional rew...Read full article on Community Announcements (UrsusLuin)AnnouncementsOfficial
