Did 2 greedy developers ruin the game?
Dear players! Thank you to everyone who stays with us, supports the game, and helps it grow. Only two people work on this project, so your support truly means a great deal to us. Over the past few days, there has been a lot of negativity surrounding the new rules. We have been accused of greed and of trying to force players to buy a subscription. That is why we want to speak openly about what is actually happening. A few important facts:The developer receives around 7% from item trades on the Steam Community Market. If profit were our only goal, it would be in our interest to remove every obstacle to accessing the market. Our revenue has barely changed since the new rules were introduced. The number of subscribers rose only slightly for a short time, then returned to its previous level. The new restrictions were not introduced to sell subscriptions. Overall concurrent player numbers are indeed declining. However, the number of active players who progress fairly and take part in the life of the game world has barely changed. Most of those leaving are people who viewed the game primarily as a way to make money. What has changed since the rules were introduced?More than 180 linked accounts have disappeared from the game. These accounts were used not for regular gameplay, but to accumulate resources and pass them along a chain of accounts. Much of the current uproar comes from users who have lost the ability to profit from such schemes. Some of them post negative reviews, stir up conflict, and try to damage the reputation of the game and its developers. At the same time, we understand that not every dissatisfied player is breaking the rules. Some of the criticism raises valid points from people who truly care about the game. We hear you and are carefully reviewing your feedback. You are free to express your dissatisfaction openly. No one will judge or label you for it. We analyze not only words, but also actual gameplay data, which allows us to distinguish honest critic...Read full article on Community Announcements (SQRT Games)AnnouncementsOfficial
Changes to the In-Game Currency Withdrawal System
Changes to the In-Game Currency Withdrawal SystemThe new withdrawal system introduces two additional rules:Withdrawing in-game currency requires an active Runepass subscription. After withdrawal, the currency is subject to a seven-day restriction on transfers and trading on Steam. These changes are already in effect. Why did we make this decision?World of Eggs is being developed first and foremost as a game. The economy, trading, and interaction between players are important parts of the gameplay, but they should not turn the game into a platform for uncontrolled money-making, speculation, and the withdrawal of valuables. We are not against fair trading or making a profit within the game's economy: these are intended parts of the game. The restrictions target users who view the game solely as a way to extract real-world value and use bots, additional accounts, concealed links between accounts, bulk transfers, market manipulation, or other violations to do so.This kind of activity harms regular players:it increases the amount of currency withdrawn from the game's economy;it creates artificial price fluctuations;it allows certain groups to influence the market;it reduces the value of fair players' resources and achievements;it turns game mechanics into tools for speculation. Our goal is to keep the economy part of the game and prevent it from becoming an uncontrolled marketplace. Why do withdrawals require an active subscription?Server maintenance, game development, customer support, and combating violations all require ongoing resources. If a user regularly takes valuables out of the game that can be sold through Steam, we believe it is fair for them to also support the game through an active subscription. This requirement also raises the cost of creating temporary accounts used solely for mass farming and currency withdrawals. It does not interfere with normal gameplay, in-game trading, or progression without a subscription: the restriction applies only to withdrawing curre...Read full article on Community Announcements (SQRT Games)AnnouncementsOfficial
