Development Update: Reputation & Recovery System
I've been making some major changes. Your performance is now tied to a Reputation Rank system. Successfully completing combinations increases your reputation and improves your rank. As your rank rises, you'll earn larger score bonuses, rewarding consistent performance and mastery of the mechanics. Of course, a photographer's reputation can also suffer. Miss combinations and your reputation rank will fall, reducing potential score rewards and making it harder to achieve the highest scores. I've also introduced a new Emergency Recovery system. If your performance drops so low that you would normally face a Game Over, you'll now have a choice. Spend some of your accumulated score to make a comeback and continue the stage, or save your points and accept defeat. This means score is no longer just a number on the screen. Every point has value. Do you spend it to save a run that's going badly, or hold onto it in pursuit of a higher final score? To make things even more interesting, your Reputation Rank now carries between photography stages, creating a sense of progression throughout the game. Building and maintaining your reputation can provide significant rewards, but a bad performance can have lasting consequences. The goal is to make every success, mistake, and score decision feel meaningful while adding more strategy and replayability to the photography gameplay. As always, let me know what you think! I’ve been overhauling parts of the story and combo systems to make everything feel more stylish, dynamic and challenging. New updates include: • Cosmetic upgrades to the story dialogue system • Improved pacing and presentation during conversations • More unique and less repetitive combo sequences • Smarter random combo generation • Better challenge scaling • Timer bar now flashes when running low for extra tension • General polish and behind-the-scenes cleanups The combo system especially should feel a lot more exciting now instead of repeating the same patterns over and over.
