    Kinder permit restarts!

Tiny patch release - after some weekend feedback, I changed the permit levels to allow restarting after each goal to make it easier to practice, and I removed the final mining-with-gravity challenge for now. Also enabled numbers on the keypad for rocket controls so you don't need to worry about numlock status anymore if keypads are your thing! Going to think about better integration for trickier orbital maneuvers in the future!

3d Classical Orbital Elements plots, resolution fixes

Greetings spacefarers! This is a small point release from the last update. The permit levels of the last release gained Keplerian orbital plotting to estimate the orbit you're in as a navigational aide. That release plotted the elliptic orbits in 2d and then superimposed them on the 3d scene, which works great only as long as you run at the resolution the game requested (1920x1080). With any other aspect ratio, the plot doesn't line up properly with the n-body simulation, which lead to the confusing situation some players encountered where the projected orbit and the actual orbit are out of alignment with each other. This patch removes the 2d plotting and plots the Keplerian orbital projection in pure 3d, using an upgraded version of the line plotting engine from the regular game to overlay the COE plot in 3d space alongside the nbody simulation. Have fun getting your permits!

The Permit Update (update notes for Mar 19)

Get Permitted! The new permit mode has landed (or launched I suppose?) - no more of this unlicensed space flight, make sure you go get your permit before you head out of the space dock! The new permit mode covers the essentials of orbiting, starting from basic rocket controls (spin left/right + thrusters), to space mining, to stopping on intragalactic dime. New players will get the permit by default before heading out, but previous players should be grandfathered past the permit stage. If you'd like to try it anyway, start the game, pull up the dev console (~ or ` on the keyboard), and type: factoryreset The game should exit, and when you come back in, you'll get the permit challenge. NB - if you're running at a resolution other than the default (1920x1080), orbital plotting may be out of alignment with where-you've-been plotting. Please send us a screenshot on discord along with what resolution you ran at if you can! Other changes in this release: * Get your space permit issued by the Leonian Thassalocracy! Try out the 7 permit levels! * The Discord invite link has been moved to settings. Sorry spammers! The discord is for gamers only! * Classical orbit plotting (Keplerian COE) is now in preview on the permit levels (purple lines) along with apoapsis/periapsis and optimal thrust arrows * Screenshots are now enabled by default on the pause menu * Credits + 3rd party licenses are now available in the "Settings" menu * Finishing a level now takes you back to levelselect instead of the main menu * The radar is now resizeable (though with mouse only at the moment), drag the handle on the corner of the radar while in the game play / pause menu More minor changes: * Fixed an alignment bug on the starfield, it's now possible to mark specific stars by bayer designation (though still hidden!) * added a soft factoryreset mode to restart the game from the beginning * default thrust strength has been decreased for more interesting gameplay * A pile of small bug fixes (and sadly...

Point release, 10/21, gauges and some bugs be gone!

Spooky greetings from Guy! This release updates the analog 3d gauges and mops up a few issues commonly reported. In playtesting, gamers were confused about the analog gauge motifs (and the full array of them!). I simplified them to match more common game UI, and replaced the medical "oxygen is green" with the more common game trope of "oxygen is blue". Here's the larger list of what's in this release: Analog gauges now have similar UI treatment to life bars in other games. The mining gauge is now contextual to cut down on UI fatigue - it only appears if you're involved in a mining situation The orbital speed is now digital (instead of the radial clicker treatment - many gamers confused this with some sort of odometer due to the look) And some more minor fixes: Objectives and Gauges are now handled by a single HUD Layout setting Closed a bug where objectives and gauges were desynched on reload The radar and gauges no longer suffer from floating point rendering error far out from the galactic origin Debug logs were quieted to warnings and above Rendered a new oxygen & speedometer icons and applied minor chromatic fixes Closed a bug where Czig ships now stop pursuit on pause Colors no longer reflect object colors on the map, moving towards a more consistent color scheme for quick readability on the radar. Happy orbiting!

Tiny point release, windowed settings + fabrication

Hi all, This is a tiny update that just fixes two minor things: * Windowed / Fullscreen mode can be configured from the Settings menu now. If you get stuck in fullscreen and there's a graphics issue, you can pass the --startwindowed command line parameter and it will switch you over to windowed mode. * There was a bundling issue with the Fabrication Station, it should animate correctly now Still looking into a bug with the Fabrication UI not updating the display after running an upgrade, for the moment you can workaround it by going to the material tab and back to see the updated inventory values. Happy orbiting!
