About this game

The NAKI Files is a first-person multiplayer-coop survival horror. In it, you must spread hidden knowledge to humanity, which is dominated by the Anunnaki*, the maestros of the world government matrix. It's 2027, and the 2030 agenda came sooner than we expected.

*The name "Anunnaki" has been translated in various ways. One of them means "one who came from heaven to earth," they are descendants of Anu, from the Highlands. They are beings with elongated skulls, who in Sumerian texts claim to have created the humanity they themselves manipulate.

Story with some rogue-lite elements

The game is divided into phases. Each phase consists of 9 rounds, each more difficult than the last, but the procedure is the same: Awaken enough people to progress, while the Anunnaki try to stop you personally. If everyone dies, it's game over, and you'll have to restart the phase from round 1.

For each person you awaken, you receive some Credit. Use these credits to unlock Amulets that change the way you play and help you progress even further.

Hundreds of possibilities

Interact with the scenario in creative ways. Position cameras, land mines, and shoot shotguns at the Anunnaki. Out of ammo? Use kitchen plates, improvise something.

Find secrets scattered throughout the map. Correlate information to understand more than what is simply written in the books, thus progressing further.

Dress however you want by going to the Wardrobe during a match. All outfits are available and can be combined to your liking.

Author's note

"Dense in knowledge, symbologies, positive references, and a pinch of creative freedom, The NAKI Files is ultimately a love letter to all those who feel different in this world. They feel something is wrong but don't know where to look."

    Where to find devlogs

I've been reorganizing stuff to make development and promotion easier and cleaner. We used to have a Discord group, a Tiktok account, Bluesky, Instagram, etc. Too much stuff to handle. It is better to centralize the information funnel.Somewhat monthly-ish I should post a video on Youtube. No commentary, minimal to no edit, no catchy-trendy music, nothing besides the game itself. And for weekly-ish I may tweet about the development of the game of something adjacent to this.Updates and patches will be announced here as usual, with occasional dev commentary on X.

TheLastMage Studio is now LunarGaia Studio

Short news: Since the only Studio's developer has the username TheLastMage, the Studio's name will change to differentiate. It will take a while to update the name in all places.

CO-OP MULTIPLAYER has arrived in The NAKI Files Demo!

After 5 months banging my head against the wall trying to turn this single-player game into a multiplayer online game via Steam, with a LAN option (for those friends who will pirate the game in the future but still want to play), it was… extremely challenging. What’s New in this DemoNew 3D models, everything revamped. Sure, the environment still looks familiar, though I did polish a spot or two, but the Anunnaki models now have different textures so we can tell them apart. There’s a new cutscene that does two things at once: it talks about the game’s story and also tells you what to do. It’s a two-in-one: tutorial and intro. Wanna see? Open the game, you lazy bum.The main gameplay mechanic got an overhaul. Now instead of 1 topic at a time, you handle 3. And throughout the level, “Censored Pages” are introduced. These are pages you want to AVOID publishing, because the world government will reduce their reach, and you’ll awaken fewer people because of it.There’s also a new upgrade mechanic. Now players receive “Amazon Stones” instead of leveling up. These stones can be placed in altars scattered around the map. The benefits each altar grants change every match. We’ve got skins! Tons of skins! And they’re mix-and-match too. So if you like one but prefer the hood from another, you can combine them however you want. They’re all free and unlocked from the start.New mechanics also include: flushing the toilet, flying with the fire extinguisher, drinking extinguisher refill fluid, haunting your friend’s flashlight when dead, and other atrocities. If it was fun, I added it!If I were to list everything that changed, this would become a wall of text. Go play it! NOW! That’s an order. Play with your friends, then tell me how it went by emailing me at dev.brunoperes@gmail.com in your preferred language. Thanks & DiscordA huge thanks to all my friends who helped test and test and test this new version. Tons of bugs happened, I lost count, and more will come! So make sure to join our...

New Demo on the Horizon! Here's What to Expect

So many things are changing behind the scenes that I can't even list them all.First and most important: MULTIPLAYER! And, if the deadline allows, with Voice Chat (VOIP).Anunnaki has a new look, as you can see from the amazing thumbnail on The NAKI Files page.We also have new outfits, since everyone was complaining about the shade of green. I think it looks great and contrasts well with red – unless you have the most common type of color blindness. The core mechanic, where you search for and insert topics into the laptop, is being improved. Now there will be 3 simultaneous topics, and the group's goal is to wake up as many people as possible within a maximum of 3 uploads. We’ve also made interface improvements, especially in readability. Amulets will be selectable before the game starts, and their prices will be adjusted for the new mechanic that’s coming.Several bugs have been fixed, and we’ve added many quality-of-life improvements to make the game more intuitive. We have a Discord server for feedback and bug reports, although it’s currently a bit quiet. The demo relaunch is scheduled for July 18, and the full game is set to release on October 31, 2025. Add it to your wishlist – we’ve got plenty of new stuff coming.Below is a video I quickly recorded to show a friend how the game's introduction turned out. The video shows the intro in both Portuguese and Japanese. Just like the rest of the game, we also support English, Simplified Chinese, French, and Spanish.

In theory, the issue (of the demo not opening) has been resolved! If you still can't open the game, first try Verifying the Integrity of Game Files. If the issue persists, or if you have feedback about the Demo, contact me directly via email at dev.brunoperes@gmail.com Sorry for the inconvenience! I spent all of yesterday trying to fix this. That said, welcome to the new update!
