Game Improvements
Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This update includes the following game improvements: Reworked the game settings menu. Since the menu has grown significantly since the game's release and everything barely fit on a single screen, I've split all the options into several categories: Game, Graphics, and Sound. Added a frame rate limit option in the graphics settings. You can now adjust this value separately, with choices including: Unlimited, 30, 60, 120, 144, and 240 FPS. Added a camera style option in the gameplay settings. I personally love the image distortion you can get by fine-tuning the Panini projection—it looks quite immersive. However, the game looks just as cool with a bodycam-style distortion, so now you can play with that option too. Additionally, the original Panini projection distortion requires a higher rendering resolution to maintain good image quality. As a result, the new bodycam effect boosts in-game FPS by 10% to 25%, depending on your graphics card. This change was actually added to the game on July 31, 2026, at the request of a player from France who holds the #1 spot on the leaderboard. Since I didn't want to create a whole new post last time just for a single line of text, I'm including this information now. The Halloween and Christmas holiday modes are now available at any time. Prior to today's update, these bonus features would only unlock on specific dates, becoming available during the Halloween and Winter Sales. The check was based on the player's local computer time, meaning you could have just temporarily changed your PC's system clock to check everything out. Now, let’s just keep it all accessible anytime. I'm also thinking about slightly expanding the bonus game mode because I was a bit discouraged by feedback f...Read full article on Community Announcements (Ells&Pills)AnnouncementsOfficial
Galician Localization Added!
This update includes a single but significant change: Galician localization has been added to the game. Huge thanks to the translator, Alex Arias-Cabarcos! His portfolio on itch.io: alesuot On the downside: the Steam store itself supports a limited number of languages, so at the moment there is no way to add store page localization alongside the translation. In the case of our game, this applies to Belarusian, Serbian, and Galician. But hopefully, in the future, Steam will make its store more comfortable for a larger number of players around the world. That would be great. Best Regards, Ells&PillsRead full article on Community Announcements (Ells&Pills)AnnouncementsOfficial
Extra Difficulty Modes, Pt. 2
Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This update includes the following changes: Added a new “lite” game mode (available in both original and “peaceful” variants). Players still start with the same 10 minutes, but extra red alarm clocks have been placed around the map that temporarily pause the device’s timer. All achievements remain unlockable in this lite mode, but Rankings are disabled. The original difficulty — NORMAL, exactly as it was before the April updates — is now effectively the “ranked” mode (available in both original and peaceful variants). Red alarm-clock spawn points have been tweaked across all modes: one of them is now placed on the lower floors, giving players down there a shot at that crucial extra minute. The overturned chair on the first floor has been moved back to its original position from before the April updates. This applies to the original game modes; the layout is slightly different in the peaceful variant. Leaderboard logic has been completely rewritten: ratings now load automatically — no need to hit “REFRESH”. The only delay is the brief wait while the data comes in from Steam. In ranked modes, pressing Caps Lock now opens a separate interface related to the leaderboard. It displays your current run time, personal best and rank, as well as the global best time among all players. It might be useful for those who enjoy ranked play, speedrunning, etc. Also, a small QoL touch: the gap between your personal best and the global record is shown right in the panel: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45686025/51e4054cdb92c4efc05650f6d7bdc8461f837e22.jpg If you beat your personal best in the current run, the panel also updates to show your new rank and how much faster you reached the finish: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45686025/f1fd9ba9d47e1dc2a0c1286e4cfbf5d758f64baa.jpg The same goes for a bad run: it shows how much slower you were compared to your own record: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45686025/ea0b15155bc48abe301f10f7dad151bc8353d2d6.jpg Best Regards, Ells&PillsRead full article on Community Announcements (Ells&Pills)AnnouncementsOfficial
Improved Polish Localization!
Hi, Ells&Pills is here! This update includes the following changes: The Polish localization of the game and store page has been updated. A huge thank you to the translator, Mateusz 'StanleyNovak' Szymański! ∞ difficulty: checkpoints have been added to the level, so instead of restarting the entire level you can now warp to the nearest checkpoint close to where you fell. Same as before — hold R to warp; a full level restart is still available through the menu button. Further polished the difficulty-select screen. All mode names have been rewritten and a new hint now clarifies the difference between settings. HARD difficulty has been removed. I’ll try to explain the reasons for these changes below. The latest Steam discussion got me thinking about all these "difficulty levels" and what they really mean in their current form. Originally, before the game even came out, we had no plans for any difficulty levels at all. They were only added later, trying to find some balance and make the game accessible to more people, since the controls take a bit of getting used to before you can really enjoy racing down the ramps. Basically, it was always about making the first steps easier — apart from that, there's no real difference. That’s why in the last update I turned off UNREAL, and today HARD is gone too. It might come back later in some new form, but no promises. For now the game is stripped of anything extra and there’s zero confusion: you’ve got the regular game in its original, settled state; the same thing tuned for a “peaceful” run; and a “practice” mode with no timer and no Steam features (and without the constant ticking in your ear, ha!). Player Mute_Jack also suggested an easy mode with 15 minutes on the timer instead of 10. Adding that would be trivial, but slapping on extra minutes feels like a lazy fix, so I’m handling the whole time-pressure thing a different way in the next update. Extra Difficulty Modes
Hi, Ells&Pills is here! Recently in the Steam Community we had a useful discussion about how scary the game is. On the one hand (personal opinion, of course), the game has literally one and a half truly scary moments that can frighten because of their suddenness. On the other hand, we’re all different people with our own quirks and life experiences. Plus, far from all players like scary games. So, charged up by that feedback, we decided to make the game a little better and more accessible. This update includes the following changes: The difficulty-select screen has been reworked. Instead of the old three tiers (NORMAL/HARD/UNREAL), the game now offers four: EASY (no timer), NORMAL(no enemies), NORMAL, HARD. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45686025/5f2423ab2870503bde22a29030cfce7a9e179985.jpg EASY (∞) difficulty lets you play with the timer disabled — no rush. Achievements are disabled on this difficulty so the game’s challenges remain meaningful. Last summer and autumn we received feedback asking for a mode like this, but we hadn’t added it until now. A strict timer can be frustrating and stressful, that’s true, but it’s also part of the game’s identity. The content was designed for a 10–20 minute session; the entire experience is built around that pace. Still, some players may want to explore the location at their own speed, get comfortable with the controls, and then try the higher difficulties. Now you can. NORMAL (☺) difficulty lets you play with no enemies at all — basically a “peaceful” mode. You can still earn every achievement and appear on the leaderboards. We added this for people who don’t play horror titles and don’t like jump-scares or being chased. The experience is a touch easier than the original vision, but it’s still an honest game and reaching the finale remains no cakewalk. UNREAL difficulty is disabled (it no longer makes sense). NORMAL and HARD difficulties remain unchanged. Also, in the two previous news posts I forgot to mention something. If you happen t...Read full article on Community Announcements (Ells&Pills)
