B5.24 — New foes, better boss fights, messier endings

Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel - Patchnotes B5.24 The next patch brings more enemy variety, clearer boss attacks and a little more mess when things die. New faces in the desert Frost and arcane mummies join selected encounters, bringing icy shards and purple projectiles to the fight. All three mage types now have subtle elemental effects to help you recognise them. Frost projectiles are now smaller, sharper and paler, with a continuous icy trail. Arcane bolts have a thicker, longer shape and a more visible trailing streak. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45534103/5886957cb7b241ef112ced4d7eb432bdc9ba8401.jpg Development preview: fire, frost and arcane mummies. We’ve also reduced oversized packs and spread encounters through busy sections of the main map. Dungeon groups received smaller caps, while improved spawn placement gives enemies more breathing room. Bosses with better manners. Slightly. The Husk’s beam has a clearer charge-up and commits to its firing direction, giving you a proper opportunity to dodge. Cover blocks the beam, and its damage better matches what you see. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45534103/ecdceef2849a42d0ae5525174ad3148beef23e70.png Development preview: the Husk preparing its attack. The Fleshmonster has 40% less health and leaves its shield down longer: 9.6 seconds instead of six. Once exposed, it can react to your hits normally. Its projectile attack also gets a more convincing throwing animation. Different creatures, different endings Undead disappear in sandy dust, wasps burst into green insect blood, and crawlers leave thick, dark-red splashes. Bosses get larger effects of their own—including a particularly unpleasant farewell from the Fleshmonster. These effects also use less unnecessary physics and reuse existing effects to keep crowded fights lighter. Fire and ice deaths keep their elemental flavour. More control over your settings Both the start menu and in-game settings now include: Texture filtering. Hard or soft shadows, plus 0, 2 or 4...

Combat, Skills & Performance — Major Update

Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel — Combat, Skills & Performance Hello adventurers! This update adds bow and shield upgrades, equipment effects, combat balancing and a new ending sequence for the current Early Access adventure. It also improves saving, scene transitions and performance. Thank you to everyone reporting bugs and sharing feedback. Your help makes a real difference! More ways to use your bow The Adventurer’s bow now progresses through three firing styles: Split: fire three arrows. Mines: fire an arrow and scatter proximity mines. Blast: fire eight short arrows in a close-range spread. Each style replaces the previous one. Lightning is a separate upgrade that works with all three. Mine arming, detonation and cleanup have also been improved. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45534103/634769bbe952504aea345754406c65c8a26e82be.gif Leave a few surprises behind with Mines. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45534103/681fa879008afffbcfa88ace1bbb0bf9bf5820c8.gif Blast: eight arrows, one close-range spread. Soldier shield upgrades Poison Shield: adds poison after the Burn and Frost upgrades. Barrier: reduces incoming damage by 40% while your shield is away. Barrier Bomb: triggers an explosion around you when the shield returns. Pierce: throws your shield through a line of enemies, carrying its elemental effects. Shield hits are more reliable, including fast throws and hits against enemy protection. True Grit and Reflect True Grit reduces incoming damage by 30% while the Soldier is below 25% health. A gold effect and HUD indicator show when it is active. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45534103/d06e780a7aa89f5b26c4a8947d0a139959032c1a.gif True Grit kicks in when health runs low. Reflect equipment damages nearby enemies when you take a hit. Multiple equipped Reflect items add to the retaliation damage. Elemental damage and visuals Elemental effects now scale more consistently with level and rarity. Poison refreshes without endlessly stacking, and weaker applications no longer replace stronger ...

Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel - Patchnotes B5.15

Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel - Patchnotes B5.15 Hello Seekers! This patch roundup brings merchants, seven new pieces of headgear, and a collection of fixes and improvements shaped by your feedback. Before the notes: a huge thank-you to the kind players who have been helping me track down bugs. The fixes below started with people taking the time to report what went wrong, explain how it happened, and help me investigate. As a solo developer, that means a lot. It is wonderful to see you helping make Under a Desert Sun better, one report at a time. Merchants are open for businessYour gold has a new purpose, and that bag full of spare equipment can finally earn its keep. Visit a merchant to browse their wares, pick up an upgrade, or sell the gear you no longer need. Buy and sell weapons and equipment. Browse the merchant's stock alongside your own inventory, with item details and prices available before you trade. Different merchants, different goods. Merchants can specialise in weapons, armour, or a mixture of equipment. Stock that grows with you. Merchants offer randomly generated gear suited to Player 1's level. On your next visit, stock refreshes after a level change or when the restock timer has elapsed. Merchant purses have limits. They can only buy what they can afford. Restocking replenishes their trading funds. Sold something by accident? Buy it back while the trading window is still open. The buyback list clears when you close it. Mouse and controller support. Inspect items or use quick trading actions with either control method. Room for your purchases. Buying an item requires a free inventory slot. Tidier trading screens. Both item grids now sit neatly inside their frames, with five columns and four rows and prices kept alongside their items. Seven new pieces of headgearThere is more treasure to hunt for! This batch is all about headgear, bringing a mix of medieval, Greek, and ancient Egyptian-inspired looks to your equipment collection. ...

Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel - patch notes!

Just before the Early Access release, I made the decision to pull the merchant and trading system from the launch build. The foundations were there, but I wasn't happy enough with how it worked and, especially, how it controlled.I'd rather hold something back for a little longer than release a system that doesn't feel ready. After some more work, testing, and polish, I think it's ready! You can meet the merchants near Tanura City, browse their wares, spend your hard-earned gold, and finally turn unwanted equipment back into something useful.Meet the MerchantsMerchants are now available in the world and bring a proper trading loop to Under a Desert Sun.- Buy and sell equipment: Spend your gold on weapons and gear, or sell items you no longer need.- Compare your gear: Your inventory is shown alongside the merchant's stock, making it easy to inspect items, stats, and prices before making a decision.- Different merchants, different goods: Merchants can specialise in weapons, armour, or offer a mixture of equipment.- Fresh stock as you progress: Merchant stock is randomly generated around Player 1's level. Their wares refresh after you level up and visit again, or once their restock timer has elapsed.- Merchants have limited gold: They can't buy everything forever. Restocking also replenishes the gold they have available for trading.- Buy back accidental sales: Sold something you wanted to keep? You can buy it back while the trading window remains open. Once you leave, the buyback list is cleared.- Mouse and controller support: Inspect, buy, and sell using either control method, including quick actions to make trading faster.- Inventory space matters: You'll need an available inventory slot before purchasing a new item.Item Details & Rarity ImprovementsAlongside the merchant system, I've made another pass over how items and their rarity are presented throughout the game.- Improved item details: Text layout and sizing have been adjusted so inventory and equipped-item stats ...
