About this game
Doomsday Valley is a comedy point 'n click mystery game with hand-drawn animations and object-based puzzles. It has a hand-drawn, stylized look that mixes quirky humor with a slightly eerie undertone. Inspired by classic 2D point 'n click games, the visuals are packed with expressive characters and interesting locations. The Mystery of Doomsday Valley will drag you into a world full of mystery, oddball moments, and a touch of the supernatural.
You are Maya Harper: a young journalist always on the lookout for 'THE BIG SCOOP'. Rumors of Alien Abductions and Monsters in the Forest has drawn her to Doomsday Valley - rumors she is 100 % ready to believe if there is just a hint of evidence. But what seemed like a beautiful valley full of quirky people soon turns out to be a real mystery - but not necessarily the mystery she was expecting.

The Demo
The demo showcases what we want to achieve with Doomsday Valley, but it should be viewed as a work in progress. This will give you a first impression about how the game will play.

Professor Nebulius. Professor in astrophysics and advanced mathematics. He is already investigating the valley and this might or might not upset the sinister forces at work... (hint: it does, it angers the spirits greatly)
Mortimer Darkwood. Manager of the Doomsday Hotel. He has no real interest in running a hotel and it shows. This is a fallback job for him after some misfortunes and he is working some angles to get away from the hotel.
Rosie. Owner of Rosie's Diner. She knows the ins and outs of the town and the people living here and is never too busy. Her recipes stem from a long tradition of local cuisine, as her family has been living in the area literally forever.
Theodore Penwright. Journalist working at The Times. Always on the lookout for the next big article. He is semi-famous in his field and makes sure people he meets recognise that in every way possible.
Cletus. He is a local farmer who recently had some nasty experiences that led him into a depression. Self-medicates with moonshine and excessive eating but also enjoys long walks with his dog.
Dave. He claims he got sick by accidental exposure to some unknown substance and is now hiding out in his camper van. He used to install smart tech solutions, like surveillance cameras and security systems, but is now running a telephone-based food-related startup.

Updated DEMO (2026) for Doomsday Valley
We are finally "finished" with the updated demo, enough anyway to be able to say enough is enough and press publish. We would really appreciate all help we can get in testing this new version of the game, as it is the release version but smaller in scope. (For now we only have the Windows version updated but will add MacOS and Linux when we have fixed the bugs being reported.)Upgrades and Change Log▪ The inventory is now "hover top of the screen", and we click-drag objects instead of click-hold-drag as we did before. It feels nicer and more natural. Drag is more of a mobile system.▪ We now have a camera system that helps us create more dynamic environments where we can set up staging areas with a determined zoom and camera position. The NPCs also have cameras for when we talk to them.▪ The Hover Tooltip now supports both LMB and RMB, so we can have Pick up stuff and Look at stuff simultaneously (we will not abuse this as we do not want unnecessary clutter in the game.)▪ Lip Sync is now introduced on all characters.▪ Maya can do emotional reaction animations and also sometimes just some random animations for some extra PIZAZZ.▪ 8-directional walk for Maya Harper is implemented.▪ Improved Journal (To-Do, Notes, Numbers and Hints) !! Now you can see the numbers you have collected while using the telephone (QoL) !!▪ Improved movement: Faster move speed and double-click to RUN!! (highly anticipated feature) ▪ Inspect things from afar (Maya has the eyes of a hawk) ▪ In-game Pause Menu with Settings and Save/Load. (This also pauses the game, obviously)▪ Updated Landing Page animation ▪ Updated GUI visuals ▪ Updated Main Menu ▪ Additional Main Character Animations▪ Changed the dog-puzzle design ▪ Removed Gossip dialog lines from Rosie (moved important bits into the journal)The In-game hint system and the manual Save/Load system are not yet operational. As they are not required for the demo, we deemed it enough for now to just showcase them. But they will be included in ...Read full article on Community Announcements (True Ascension)AnnouncementsOfficial
8-directional walk incoming
Hello all Doomsday Valley Supernatural Convention Participants As a member of the Bizarre Bulletin community, you are invited to the supernatural convention at Doomsday Hotel. If you like power-infused crystals, fortune-telling and the occasional seance with dead people connecting through the veil, this event is for you! Just sign up at the front desk as you arrive. 8-directional walkOur art department (Karl Längberg) has been stealing a few hours here and there from other duties (usually when the kids have gone to sleep) for a big project and it is now done. It is an 8-directional walk for our main character and "I want to believe" - journalist, Maya Harper. In the demo we included a basic 2-directional (mirrored) walk cycle that was more or less a placeholder. It is not unusual to mirror the walk cycle animation in order to save time and resources, but we decided to go the extra mile and actually give her the full package. As it is the animation you as a player will constantly be watching, we think it is our duty to do it as interesting as we can with the limited resources we have. We will be adding it to the game engine shortly and it will be live in an upcoming updated demo that we are close to finishing up.Until next time! New Cover Art Reveal!
Hello Supernatural Subscribers! Spring is in the air here in Sweden and we both have just had the yearly cycle of "sick child -> sick parent -> sick other parent -> sick second child -> repeat ad infinitum" so it feels like there has been more snot and coughs than actual dev work going on, but we have managed to push the project along a bit anyway.New Cover ArtNow that all the background artwork is 100 % complete - YAY! - we have prioritized a piece of artwork for the game that will go on the Steam page when ready. You will have a sneak peek before anyone else sees it and it is a new primary cover art for the game! We will keep the old cover art as a secondary cover art or possibly in-game menu.Maya is more in focus here as the main protagonist and we changed the logo a bit for readability. We will most likely change the name to just Doomsday Valley instead of "The Mystery of Doomsday Valley". If you have any opinions or tips regarding name / logo / cover art, just drop us a comment! The aim has been to convey a feeling of mystery and comedy and focus more on the main character.- Eh, we might have a problem here, Maya. I told you we should have stayed at the hotel!Have a nice day!Pierre Nilsson and Karl LängbergRead full article on Community Announcements (True Ascension)Patch NotesOfficial
December update - Winter is upon us!
Wintery Greetings all Bizarre Bulletin Subscribers! We are happy to announce that we estimate to be done with 70 % of the background artwork at the end of the year. This is great because we also need to start focus on getting final renders of the different characters. Too bad there is only so much time each day - if someone wants to send us a shipment of coffee (or maybe a babysitter) it might improve the production rate greatly :)The map we did for the Kickstarter campaign is also updated to better suit the rest of the artwork. There is also a new location added since then - take a look and see if you can identify it!Art process - Sketch - Detailed Sketch - Final RenderThis image was published on social media as a way to market the game. It shows how the concept sketch is transferred into the final rendering. There is a step in-between also where we get a detailed sketch first in order to make sure everything is in order and then we give the go-ahead for coloring. The process is very straightforward and works very well for this kind of game. A big portion of the funds from the Kickstarter is directed to our main artist for these kinds of images - they are truly the backbone of the game!Help us spread the wordPlease help us out by sharing our posts on social media and tell your friends about the game! The more wishlists we have when we launch, the better. Also you can use this linktree if you want to follow us on more places than this. If you have any feedback on the project we are happy to hear from you!Shoutouts! We have been talking a bit with the guys behind Purple Peacock - two twin brothers from Greece. They are cooking up a game of their own and it looks great! The Mystery of Doomsday Valley recently got some appreciation from the influencer / streamer Kastaclysm who did a playthrough of the demo. It seems she had a great time playing it!And for our French wishlisters - a short news article on GameTrip.net:https://www.gametrip.net/news-198-the-mystery-of-doomsd...Read full article on Community Announcements (True Ascension)Patch NotesOfficial
November update - Camera and Artwork
November update - Camera and Artwork Dear Doomsday Cult Followers! We have been busy with the development but we also have been making real progress on the background art - we now have around 30 rendered images completed and that is approximately 60 % of the total amount of unique background images. There will be a lot of locations and the locations will have a couple of images each just like the Diner location in the demo is comprised of three background images. All the important systems (Camera, GUI, Save/Load and so on) is now more or less finished We have posted these images on our discord if you want to view them in beautiful hi-res. They feature the Doomsday Hotel exterior, the Graveyard exterior and some kind of engine/machine inside a shed somewhere.Improved Camera SystemWe have been working with the camera to make it more dynamic in the scene. We have a couple of interesting camera systems in place now. There are areas where the camera zooms in and out (points of interest). When we enter and exit a location there will probably be some kind of zoom involved in order to create a sense of the trees closing in around Maya when she leaves the campsite. When Maya comes close to the Diner the camera will zoom out and create a staging area where maya no longer controls the camera - instead she moves freely in a static area. There will be a zoom when Maya talks with other characters and also when she inspects objects at a distance - we have a little nudge of the camera that gives the feeling of Maya just glancing over or slightly raising her head to look at something. All these things combined gets us a very dynamic and alive environment to explore! There is a short video up on youtube detailing this new camera system and here is an even shorter GIF for those of you in a hurry :)We are going to AdventureX!https://www.adventurexpo.org/This year we join up with other adventurers and point-and-click enthusiasts over at AdventureX! This is our first time attending and it...Read full article on Community Announcements (True Ascension)
