Limited-Time Demo Relaunch + New Partnership Announcement
Hello everyone. It's certainly been a while! We are relaunching our demo in conjunction with our appearance at the Game Devs of Color (GDoC) Expo, running from 26 September to 3 October! This demo addresses a lot of feedback we received in the past, such as:Shields: Units now have shields on top of HP with varying amounts, resolving a major feedback where you feel everyone, and especially heroes, die so quickly.Upkeep: Briefly online during the last days of the demo, units now have upkeep, costing gold to maintain each turn, which can be covered by capturing villages.Army Upgrades: A replacement system for Blessings that is more consistent in both application and lore.New Prologue Mission + Story: A new mission is crafted, allowing you to play as all three of the faction leaders in a timeline where the Time-Traveling Goddess is yet present.Prophecies and Perks: Available after completing Mission 4, you can fulfill prophecies rewarding you with Time Essences, which can then be used to unlock Perks that help you in this Timeline and all subsequent ones! Please note that the UI for these remain somewhat placeholder-like and will be updated in the future.Additionally, we would like to announce that we are partnered with TrueColor Games (TCG), publishing our game in the Japanese and Korean regions! They will work hand-in-hand with us, and Wave Games, our existing partners, to publish the game in China, to bring you the best game possible.Considering the recency of when the deal is signed with TCG, I regret to inform you that we will require more time to bring you the latest Japanese and Korean localizations of the game. So, at the moment, the game will only be available in English and Chinese languages. We expect they will be ready next week, so stay tuned for it!As the game is not yet feature-complete, and with plenty to show you beyond here, including battle scenes and animation adjustments, all three sides have collectively decided that this demo will be time-limited, ...Read full article on Community Announcements (media)AnnouncementsOfficial
Notice of Temporary Demo Closure
Thank you very much for your support for "The Gambit Lost to Time". In the 3 weeks since the demo was live, we have received plenty of feedback and reviewed them accordingly. While the changes we pushed last week helped to steer the game towards the right direction, the rest will require careful considerations so that we can provide the best solution. Therefore, we decided to temporarily close the demo starting from next Monday in order to give ourselves the time and space to make an even better game. To provide an estimation, we expect to return around early September with at least the following changes: Weather Effects and Time of DayAdjustments to Combat and Skill SystemsNew Prologue MissionNew Time Spell "Chrono Vortex"PropheciesPremonitions of the FutureTo tease some of what we prepared, here are some demonstrations of Time of Day:Aside from the changes mentioned above, we will provide QoL updates and bugfixes where necessary. July DevBlog - Demo Early Impressions, Publisher Announcement
Welcome to our latest devblog! Last Thursday, we released the demo for "The Gambit Lost to Time". Have you tried it yet? It's the latest edition of a journey that has taken us approximately 2 years up until now, and we hope that you enjoy what we have offered so far.First of all, let us talk about matters outside of the demo itself: We have partnered with Wave Games to publish our game in China! The initial contact was made in August (in a somewhat eccentric manner, if I may add). We maintained an exchange of updates until eventually a deal was signed in April. As this is our first Steam game, there are so many variables that I do not know, and above all, I am only one person. I may be good at certain things, but game development is so vast that there is only so much one person can do (or one team for that matter). And that is where Wave comes in to take such burden off our shoulders. Suffice to say, this has been a partnership I am happy with, and may it continue well in the coming future.Perhaps one day, we will spill more details on how this partnership came to be. I think it will be quite an interesting story to tell!Moving on, let us talk a little bit about how things went since we launched our demo. The wishlist number is getting quite healthy, with us going beyond 2000 wishlists some 48 hours after the demo launched. Our joint effort is only in its infancy, and we have a lot more to offer for you. However, based on your feedback, these are the issues we often hear about:Onboarding experience could be a lot smootherCurrent maps feel too big and emptyGeneral UI/UX and QoL issuesThank you so much for providing your feedback on the demo! Therefore, we would like to provide you with a revised schedule and expectation of our updates:July Update (scheduled for 29 July 2026)Weather Effects + Time of DayNew Time Spells: Temporal Anchor + Chrono VortexAdjustment to unit costs and weapon triangleAdjustments to existing mission mapsAdditions of warnings before certain decis...Read full article on Community Announcements (media)Patch NotesOfficial
