About this game

"Subway Exorcist Girl" is a small-scale suspenseful horror game developed by a single person, inspired by "Exit 8". The game features elements of "roguelike" randomness.

*(Due to the game being developed with RPG Maker MV, the controls and interactions may feel somewhat "stiff" or "rough" and may not have the smoothness and natural flow of a Unity engine game. Please note this, and only consider purchasing if you're willing to accept these aspects.)

Game Features

  • The game has certain random elements, and you cannot predict the terrifying phenomena you will encounter next. Each death and rebirth presents you with completely different crises, and your previous exploration experience cannot help you or provide a sense of security. The randomly occurring horror phenomena and monsters add to the fear.

  • Players must identify all abnormalities and find a way to eliminate them, ensuring that they do not overlook anything in order to safely reach the end. Otherwise, they will be continuously killed and reborn by an indescribable unknown evil force.

  • Based on the gameplay of horror suspense and light roguelike elements, the game features a certain level of narrative and character development. The dark, eerie atmosphere of the subway is filled with the unknown and mysteries. Players explore and interact with various characters, monsters, and anomalies to gain an immersive role-playing experience and narrative insights.

  • The game will showcase refreshing monster designs and bizarre horror imagery, aiming to create a strong psychological horror atmosphere and incomprehensible terrifying scenes.

With the continuous arrival of the unknown and surprises, do you dare to challenge?

DLC has been canceled due to technical challenges, and the future plans.

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45262201/1b26f1425192be72b17c40c4cb4fc9fd947d4817.jpg It has been 2 months since the game's release. I’m sorry to bring you this news, but it’s not entirely bad—please read through to the end. Overview of the Situation: After release, I promised to develop and update free DLC. Over these two months, I’ve worked hard for this goal, facing many difficulties. During this time, I fell ill and still suffer from tinnitus due to stress and exhaustion. Breaking promises and complaining to gain sympathy are terrible behaviors, so despite the hardships, I kept pushing forward. Even yesterday, I was still working on the DLC, hoping to fulfill my commitment. However, due to health issues and, most importantly, the limitations of RPGmaker MV, I’ve encountered constant challenges in development. Today, a new technical issue arose: I created parallel events for new levels to animate traps and mechanisms during gameplay. These took a long time to finish, but I discovered today that their presence corrupts save files or prevents saving entirely—a problem with no easy fix. This forces me to delete many completed parts and redo them. This was the final straw. I’m not a professional programmer, but I tried every trick to make RPGmaker support a high-resolution side-scrolling game. I even used a clunky method for multilingual localization: creating separate "rooms" for each language. Players are teleported to a Chinese, English, or Korean "room" based on their language… though this led to the awkward situation where Korean players were initially sent to the Chinese room. Hahaha, my apologies! Additionally, RPGmaker struggles with multi-frame animations. Even with plugins, it’s extremely difficult. Many Spine animations I made (like the smooth animations for the "Ghost Sister") couldn’t be implemented, leaving only crude 3-frame animations in-game. Performance issues are also severe—oversized PNG sprites caused frame rates to drop below 60 on some PCs. I’m not attackin...

【Japanese fixed】Thanks to the help of Hiroaki Yukinofu!A free DLC coming!

I would like to sincerely thank Hiroaki Yukinofu for his selfless help! He kindly revised all the Japanese translations in my game for free. And he also helped correct a lot of language issues. Thanks to him, the in-game text is now completely accurate and aligns with Japanese language conventions. Without his assistance, this would not have been possible. Previously, even though I used AI to translate sentence by sentence, the Japanese parts were still poorly done. Some say that translation is the industry most easily replaced by AI, but at this point, I believe that is impossible. This is because, for someone who doesn’t understand the language, it is impossible to verify whether the AI-translated results are correct. I made many efforts to fix the poor Japanese translations, but since I don’t understand Japanese, I hit a wall. Unless you are a native speaker of the language, it is truly impossible to produce a correct translation. This is probably why all games require localization teams for translation. Fortunately, players and supporters of this game from around the world reached out to me. They selflessly and freely offered to help revise the translations for my game. I am deeply moved by this! The encouragement and support from players are the greatest rewards and spiritual motivation for me in creating this game! 2. Many people have complained that the game lacks content and is overpriced. In reality, the game’s sales have not been great. My main job is as an illustrator, and I have put more effort and work into this game than into my main job, but the income I’ve earned from it is much less. This has left me somewhat disheartened. From a purely economic perspective, continuing to produce free updates for the game is not worth it. However, because of the unprecedented recognition, encouragement, and selfless help I’ve received from people around the world, I have decided to release three brand-new train car contents and some other surprise updates for free! ...

【1.5 Japanese Optimization】The Japanese version has been Fixed line by line!!!

What completely took me by surprise was that the Japanese version of the translation was extremely, extremely poor. The original translation quality was bad, but since I don’t understand Japanese, I didn’t notice the issues. As a result, I received some negative reviews in Japanese, and I am very concerned about this. The poor translation quality was not intentional on my part. It’s just that I set up 10 languages for the game and had to handle all the translation work alone. So the workload was disastrously huge, far beyond what one person could handle. I thought that even if machine translation results were a bit odd, they would still be understandable and wouldn’t overly affect the gameplay. So I wasn’t too worried. But when I input the game’s text line by line into DeepSeek and ChatGPT today for direct translation, I found that the Japanese translation results were a disaster. I laughed so hard because the translation was so bad. Many parts were completely opposite in meaning, and there were many hilarious mistakes. The characters’ titles were also all mixed up. I am very grateful to the Japanese players who endured such translations and still managed to finish the game. I truly admire their comprehension skills and feel deeply sorry. I resubmitted each sentence to DeepSeek and ChatGPT, had them translate directly, corrected the errors, provided the revised translations, and then filled them into the game engine. Each sentence took a minute. I even subscribed to ChatGPT’s monthly plan for this. As a result, I used up all of ChatGPT’s quota, and DeepSeek also went down due to too many users, making my translation work even more difficult. However, I have now completed line-by-line proofreading for the 【Clown Carriage】 and 【Ghost Carriage】, as well as the opening narration and the dialogue between the protagonists. These parts are crucial to the game and must not have translation errors, as they would severely impact the gaming experience. So in the current versio...

【Gameplay Optimization】After revival, No need to walk through a long corridor.

The respawn location has been updated. Now, after revival, the player will respawn near the Gacha machine and the black cat instead of at the beginning of the train car. No more walking through long train cars. Failing a challenge is already frustrating, and the combination of slow movement and long train car passages could make the experience tedious. Thanks to player feedback, we have optimized this part of the experience.

【1.4version】Add a black screen detection mechanism \ Achievement [never give up]

1.【Black Screen】 The issue still occurs. Since I cannot fully reproduce this bug, it is difficult to address it specifically. Yesterday, it seemed like the problem was fixed, but after the Chinese version no longer experienced the black screen, the English version started having it. Later, the 1.31 update brought the bug back to the Chinese version. The mechanism behind the bug is clear: When starting a new game, the system detects the player's language and begins the game accordingly. However, if the player starts a new game without switching the language first, the system fails to detect the language and enters a pseudo-crash state. A new detection mechanism has been added. When the system cannot detect the player's language, it no longer enters a pseudo-crash state. Instead, it directly asks the player which language they are using. If the player selects Chinese, the game will run directly. For other languages, the game will return to the title screen, prompting the player to switch the language before starting a new game. If you still encounter the 【Black Screen】 pseudo-crash state, the solution remains the same: Return to the title screen, switch to another language, and start a new game. This should allow the game to run normally. Then, return to the title screen, switch back to your preferred language, and start a new game again. The issue should be resolved. 2.Based on player feedback, the 【Never Give Up】 achievement cannot be triggered. I have rewritten a trigger event in a parallel process to continuously check for the condition, which should resolve the issue. Thank you to all the achievement hunters for your efforts!
