Delve into Weeks Till Winter, where you'll craft wooden buildings and unlock mysteries in a blend of puzzle and city-builder mechanics. Created by Subnuminal, LLC, this indie simulation offers a unique score-based strategy experience.

About this game

On the table before you sits a set of books containing magic worlds and cryptic secrets. Open a book, explore its pages, and enter into varied landscapes of procedurally generated terrain and resources. Pay careful attention to the hints that litter the pages. Unlocking their meaning is the key to mastering the game.

Each world is a randomized puzzle. Learn optimized building arrangements, target resource-rich terrain tiles, and unlock larger, more rewarding structures to gain higher scores. Turn-by-turn and season-by-season, you must strategically place buildings to maximize resource and population gains while avoiding the wandering terrors of winter. Resource management is minimalistic, but skilled play requires planning and deep game knowledge.

In Summary:

  • Place buildings on resources to harvest them

  • Keep buildings near related buildings to earn bonuses

  • Discover secret building arrangements to trigger bonus structures

  • Undo and retry placements within a season to optimize

  • Protect your buildings during winter

As your population grows, you may expand to new areas. But take care. The ruins of a failed civilization lie scattered throughout the land. They will sense your presence. And when winter comes, altars will stir, unleashing terrors held back only by heat and flame.

Special items can be found or purchased from a mysterious hermit. Use them to boost your population, increase resource gains, or destroy altars and winter terrors. Using these tools wisely is necessary to reach the highest rankings.

Also Included:

  • 20 puzzle-like challenge maps exploring the underlying rules of the game

  • The level editor used to create those challenge maps

  • A free-build mode, without time or resource constraints, to make something interesting and beautiful

Along the way, you may discover fragmentary manuscripts buried in the ruins of the civilization that preceded you, or otherwise hidden throughout the game world. Through voice-acted journal entries, cryptic fables, and historical records, you can piece together the forgotten lore that explains this world.

Weeks Till Winter offers:

  • 7 different worlds of procedurally generated terrain for standard play

  • 20 puzzle-like challenge maps

  • A free-build mode without the constraints of resource costs nor winter terrors

  • A level editor to build your own playable worlds or custom scenarios

  • A lore-based fragmented narrative, with more than a dozen hidden manuscripts to discover

  • and windmills!

    Resolution Fixes, Achievements, Leaderboards...

All right. I confess. I had neglected checking my build against a variety of monitor resolutions. I've now gone through and corrected that. Some text sizes may still need adjusting, but this thing should support your 4k or widescreen or even low resolution monitors, now. If anyone still sees issues, let me know in the comments.I've also added in achievements and implemented some leaderboard support. So if those are features you're interested in, they're in the mix, now. If those aren't features you're interested in... well, they're still in the mix. I'm excited about them, at least! Some balance changes have been made and I'm working on more. I think it still requires a bit too much game knowledge to hit the basic goals. And I'm working on better communicating the finer points of how the game works, to more rapidly build up that game knowledge. Also, if your camera gets rotated into an awkward angle, you can snap recover to default rotation by hitting the 0 key, now! So much convenience! So much wow! Eh. Ahem.I'm leaving the demo up for the foreseeable future and will push any fixes I'm making to it as I go. If anyone has any questions or experiences any problems with it, feel free to hit me up in the comments. Feedback is welcome!Thank you.
