In Shardbreakers, you shape your spell engine by combining Shards to unleash powerful Resonance patterns. Tackle challenging roguelite combat as you strategize and adapt with Embercore’s unique indie RPG experience.
About this game
In Shardbreakers, you don’t just collect upgrades - you build a spell engine. Socket Shards to decide what triggers what and chain spells together. Your weapon attacks automatically and lighter spells trigger on their own, while your most decisive spells remain under your control.

Choose your Skill and Condition Shards to decide what triggers, what fires, and how your magic behaves. Arrange them into Resonance patterns to amplify their power. Then take your engine into battle and watch your choices come to life as spells trigger, chain, and cascade through combat.
Step into dense, readable combat rooms built to test your ideas in motion. As your spells trigger, chain, and cascade, you can see exactly why your build works, or where it falls short.
A full room isn’t just danger. It’s fuel that makes your build louder.
Change the trigger, change the arrangement, change the result. Build around spreading effects, cascading reactions, powerful payoff spells, or entirely different combinations of Shards. Each run gives you another way to solve the fight.
Every run asks you to make trade-offs. Choose your route, spend your resources, reroll what doesn’t fit, upgrade what does, or recover before the next fight. Don’t just take what looks powerful - choose what your build actually needs.

Unlock new Shards and expand the possibilities of your spell engine. Start from different foundations with the Hunter, Arcanist, and Knight, then shape each run through the engine you build.
Your hero sets your starting frame, but the spell engine you author is entirely your own.

Shardbreakers Has Changed - Come Play It With Us
Over the past months, we've reworked some of the biggest parts of Shardbreakers. Through all of those changes, we kept coming back to one idea:We want you to design your magic, not just collect upgrades. What’s changed? The Fusion system has been replaced by Resonance. Socket Shards together to create chains of spells, then rearrange them to change how your engine works. Where you place your Shards now matters - and moving just one can change the whole chain.Combat has changed too. Your build defines your options, and you decide how to use them - move where it performs best, choose which enemies to prioritize, and decide when to use your key abilities. The goal is for combat to feel engaging because you’re actively steering the build you created, not just letting it play itself.A full room isn't just danger. It's fuel for a working build. Our next playtest begins September 18Rather than just tell you about the changes, we'd like you to play them. We're opening the new version of Shardbreakers for playtesting on September 18, and we'd love to hear what you think.Whether you've followed Shardbreakers since the earlier version or you're discovering the game for the first time, you're welcome to join us.Want to play? Sign up for the playtest here:Sign Up for the Shardbreakers PlaytestYou can also join our Discord to meet the community, follow playtest updates, and share your feedback with us:Join the Shardbreakers DiscordWe'll share more details as we get closer to September 18.See you in the playtest!- The Shardbreakers TeamRead full article on Community Announcements (Embercore)AnnouncementsOfficial
