Delve into Grave Seasons, where you farm, romance, and uncover horrors in Ashenridge. A chilling narrative sim from Perfect Garbage challenges your survival instincts.

About this game

Grave Seasons is an isometric pixel murder mystery farming/life sim, where you play the role of an escaped convict attempting to live peacefully in the small mountainside town of Ashenridge. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse when a supernatural serial killer begins attacking your fellow neighbors.

Grave Seasons is a narrative-driven supernatural horror wrapped lovingly in a farming/life sim. You will have one year to protect victims from a supernatural serial killer that lurks in town. Using farming, foraging, crafting and investigation, you are tasked with discovering methods that ward off monsters. Unravel the truth behind the supernatural murders, discover the secrets the residents of Ashenridge keep hidden away, and save those that you can…

Or let chaos reign. The choice is yours.

Just know that each decision has its consequences, both positive and negative. Unlock new stories upon the death of characters, discover storylines with their survival. Decisions are checked (and autosaved) to weave a story of your time in Ashenridge. With only a year, how will you leave your mark?

Inspired by farming sims of old, your farm in Ashenridge sits at the very top of the mountain. There you can:

  • Farm and grow seasonal crops using different types of farm plots

  • Craft recipes in your kitchen or your shed, as well as mysterious occult items that could save potential victims of the killer

  • Upgrade your tools and the buildings on your farm and select potential aesthetic customization options

  • Unearth pieces of history in Ashenridge as you farm, harvest and forage

Ashenridge holds 30+ residents and 70+ interior locations to explore, with seven major locations to visit:

  • Your Farm

  • The Mountainside

  • The Forest

  • The Local District of Ashenridge

  • The Commercial District of Ashenridge

  • The Coast & Docks

  • The Mines

Explore all that Ashenridge has to offer and discover how things change depending on which killer is active, which residents are alive, and what season it is.

Every playthrough of Grave Seasons selects a potential supernatural killer from a pool of candidates. Each killer has their own campaign, their own reasoning, their own kill styles and their own targets.

Uncover the hidden sides of the townsfolk (and even romance them) while they're a killer OR while they're a victim. Will you let them run rampant? Or put an end to their rampage?

  • Customize your character

  • Collect, discover or craft over 600+ items

  • Fish and mine, discovering new ingredients that will help unravel the mysteries of town

  • Break and enter into the homes of the locals, just don’t get caught

  • Stay awake for 24+ hours, experiencing both the day and the night of Ashenridge

  • Changing seasons that impact the world around you

  • Get to know the 30+ residents of Ashenridge

  • Romance one of the 12 potential folks that capture your heart, with a few having the potential to be the killer…

  • Replayability where your work is tracked from your previous year

  • And much more!

    Devlog: Farming Systems & Grids

Hello farmers!Thank you all so much for the outpouring of support. We’ve been hard at work building the best experience we can in Ashenridge! As a small team, we’ve pushed ourselves d to make some important aspects of our game feel as good as possible. One of them is, of course, farming! If you’re tuned in with our publisher, Blumhouse Games, you might have caught this lovely video of Grave Seasons that discusses some of our farming systems: We wanted to highlight some of the work that went into crafting our farming system, and to give you a tour of how it all works in Grave Seasons!Farming Tools We would be remiss not to first talk about the tools you have access to in Grave Seasons. After “moving in” to Ashenridge, you’ll find yourself carrying a shovel, a pickaxe, an axe, a watering can, and of course, your trusty crowbar. The majority of tools in Grave Seasons are used for farming. You’ll use your shovel to dig up the land, select seeds from your quick inventory, and plant them. Then, equip your watering can and water that newly seeded plot!Your pickaxe lets you engage in mining, and your axe is great to deal with trees! Each tool has the potential to become greater in your capable hands.Seasons & SeedsThere are four seasons in our game: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Grave Seasons takes place over the course of a single year, and each season brings new trials and tribulations. Each season impacts the seeds available to grow on your farm! With over 45 seeds available in our game, some can only be purchased, while others can be found while foraging. All seeds have unique qualities that impact their growth, such as seasonality and farming plot type (more on that later!) You can check out all this information either when you purchase seeds or on their tool tips. Types of Farming PlotsAlthough we have a controlled space for farming, we have three different types of farming plots: Arid, Regular and Wet.Arid is a dry, more elevated soil region on the farm, and only cer...

    Devlog: Day & Night Cycle

DevLog: Days and Nights in AshenridgeWelcome back to our devlogs. This time around, we wanted to share our approach to the different times of day in Grave Seasons!Grave Seasons operates on a 24 hour schedule! Some of our favorite games have a hard line for when the player must get some rest. For us, with our goals of showcasing multiple facets of our town and its people, we didn’t want to create a hard stop during the night that would halt exploration. Some of the most ominous moments in Grave Seasons can happen in the dark, and we wanted to embrace the ominous tonal shift that comes with night falling around you as you stay out too late poking around in your neighbor’s stuff. The Purpose of TimeIn Grave Seasons, we wanted to explore the limits and benefits of a full 24 hour system. That meant even NPCs could wander at night alongside you. Late night drinking? Chilling out by the docks as the sun sets? These were all on the table, and would play into our goals of nuanced NPC schedules. We wanted to create a town that felt explorable, even when the moon was out. After all, you did escape from prison, and allowing you to use the cover of night to poke at Ashenridge’s secrets just felt right. Time itself is a resource in our game, and while rest is still necessary to engage in our full farming loop, you might have to get inventive. We knew that players would want to take unusual actions in the face of the very unusual circumstance of taking on a supernatural serial killer in Ashenridge. No matter what you do in Grave Seasons, “live” time is still ticking away. So how do we visualize that progression of time to the player?A ‘Day’ in AshenridgeA 24-hour day in Ashenridge is composed of different stages of light. Rather than having day and night as distinct states, letting the player travel through the town as time passed meant we paid a lot of attention to blending early morning into midday into early evening and then late night. Visualizing those changes in time, outside o...

SGF 2026: Grave Seasons Preview — More Than Just Crops and Romance

When I first saw Grave Seasons last year, I walked away intrigued, but a little cautious since the idea of combining a cozy farming simulator with a murder mystery sounded fantastic. It sounds like a game right up my alley, but it’s also the kind of pitch that immediately raises questions about making sure the blending of the two was perfect. What I saw in 2025 focused heavily on the farming side of the experience, introducing the town, showing off crop management, teasing some of the darker themes beneath the surface, and ending on a monster attack to show you that this was a much more mature experience. It was enough to grab my attention, but I wasn’t entirely convinced yet. After finally getting some more hands-on time with Grave Seasons at Summer Game Fest, however, I’m starting to think the team at Perfect Garbage is onto something incredibly special. The biggest surprise wasn’t the murder mystery, either; granted, what we saw in the demo was... Read more

You have your farm (and home) at the very top of the mountain. There’s a mountainside you can visit, a forest you can explore and a coast with a quiet dock and a sunny beach. The town itself is broken into two sections:Local DistrictCommercial District The Local DistrictOutside the bar at night. The Local District holds the homes and shops of the majority of residents in Ashenridge. Built by a small community working with the space they have, a lot of folks live on top of shops, and many buildings have multiple uses. We wanted to make a space that felt compact but also a little maze...
