Steam Network Mode & Cost-Based VS Mode is out (v2.16)

Hi all,Steam Network Mode has been out for a while now, and it has proven to be stable. Meanwhile, Cost Based VS Mode has just launched in LF2R v2.16.Since I did not post a full announcement for my previous update (v2.15), I have included the highlights for both updates below.V2.15: • Network Mode (Steam Network) is now available. You no longer need to enter an IP address, set up port forwarding, or run a separate server program to play online with friends. Just create or join a lobby directly from the main menu.V2.16: • Network Mode (Steam Network) now supports up to 8 computers • Allow hiding (Shown as '?') Random characters in the game menu • Add 'Cost Based Mode' for VS games – Each team has a shared Team Cost Pool. – Each character has a fixed cost. – When a character is defeated, the team cost pool is reduced. – If cost remains (> 0), the character respawns. Otherwise, the entire team is defeated. • Add 'Time Limit' to VS and Championship modes • More Game Options, you can choose whether to allow: – Item drops – Transform (to LouisEX) – Respawn Shuffle (Random character + Cost Based mode only)More details can be found in the in game update log.Hope you enjoy the updates. Thank you!

    LF2R v2.14b is now live

Hi all, I’ve just promoted v2.14b from beta to the main (default) branch. This means the main branch has jumped directly from v2.12 to v2.14b. Thank you to everyone who tested the beta and provided feedback. Sometimes Steam may have trouble updating the game. If you still see v2.12 (or even v2.1) after updating, you can fix it by going to: Steam Client → Right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Below is the short summary of what has changed: • Gamepad support added • Improved SteamDeck experience • Reduced AI sensitivity for Normal/Easy • Further improvements to control feel • Fixed floating/stuck issues • Fixed some quarter-century-old bugs • Made Full-Screen more accessible • Fixed app freeze on Full-screen + alt-tab • Other bug fixes... For the complete list of changes (about 4–5 screens worth), please refer to the update log in the game. If you discover any bugs in v2.14b, please report them in the Community Hub.Over the next two weeks, I’ll be focusing my efforts on improving the network features. During this time, I may be less responsive in replies and engagement, and less likely to address non-urgent bugs.Looking back on this update, I realize I underestimated the complexity of gamepad support, and it has taken a toll on my morale. I set out to solve a problem that could impress many players, but instead I often felt stuck. After putting in significant effort, I discovered the gamepad API conflicted with Steam Input, and the thought of reworking everything was painful. The frustration began to drain my momentum, and perhaps it is even a sign of burnout. That is part of why I decided not to spend more time on this issue (more context in the update log).Still, I know many of you continue to support me, and I am truly grateful. Ups and downs are part of indie life, and I will keep going, shifting my focus to network play and doing my best. Stay tuned, and thank you for your support.!

    LF2R v2.12 is now live

Hi all,I have just promoted version 2.12 to the default build. Thank you to everyone who tested the beta and provided feedback Updates:• Steam Overlay is now supported (Windows only; unfortunately not supported on Mac, possibly due to a Steamworks.js issue). You can now take screenshots or record video more conveniently.• Steam Remote Play is now supported (Windows only, as it requires Steam Overlay. Audio may not work for connected players—this might be fixable through Steam settings on the player’s side without any game code changes. Please let me know if you find a solution.)• Allow the player to zoom out the gameplay screen slightly to better match the original LF2 screen view. Press F10 or click the zoom button at the upper right corner (after expanding the setting buttons). Previously, the background displayed at 712x400 units. Now, after zooming out, it is 794x400, leaving black bars at the top and bottom. This was done in response to many complaints that the narrower field of view affected the gameplay feel and control.• The Coliseum stage has been reverted back to 794x400 (previously 712x400 in v2.11), and when the game starts on the Coliseum stage, zoom-out will now be triggered automatically (and restored after the game ends) to ensure no horizontal scrolling occurs on that background.• Increased the default z-width of the hit box from 15 units to 17 units. Since characters are now slightly taller than in the original LF2, players started to feel that the hit box z-width was reduced. With this change, it should now be a bit easier to fight against AI, as the AI isn’t aware of this adjustment.• Input registration and control feel improvements: – Pressing D → → J will no longer trigger D → J. – Pressing → and then pressing D → J simultaneously will no longer trigger the unintended dash + defend bug. (This issue, before being fixed, might not have been reproducible on some keyboards that jam when multiple keys are pressed simultaneously. However, I'm confi...

V2.11 Released with Many Bugs Fixed

As we reach the end of the first week since launch, After working all day long this week, the latest patch is now live, with many bugs fixed: • Fixed the character stats issues. Movement stats now vary between characters. • Fixed Louis’s jump height issue (was too low). • Fixed keyboard input issues:    – Input now works with Caps Lock on.    – Shift and Ctrl keys are now supported. (Alt is still restricted due to conflicts with the system menu.) • Changed function key shortcuts:    – Now uses F1~F9 instead of Shift 1~9.    – Alt adjusts SFX volume; Alt , or Alt . adjusts BGM volume. • Added a BGM/SFX volume control UI to the top-right corner, with initial values set to BGM: 40 and SFX: 60. • Added a Move List button to the top-right corner for easier access, as some players found it inconvenient to open it from the menu bar or control settings. • Coliseum stage now matches the screen width, preventing horizontal scrolling. • Bronze and Silver achievements now unlock on higher difficulties too (e.g. playing with 2 teammates and clearing Stage 5 on Difficult now grants all 3 achievements: GOLD, SILVER, and BRONZE). • Added an QUIT button to the Game Mode menu (bottom right). • Accessibility for visually impaired players:    – Stereo sound added (previously mono). For example, if something happens on the left side of the screen, it will sound louder in the left speaker.    – The main menu now supports keyboard input for starting a game. (Press 1 to start local play, 2 for network play) • 'Unlock code' can now be entered on the character selection screen (so even if a key overlaps with an attack key, it still works). • Allow Crazy difficulty in VS mode. • Multiple players can now share the same input key. (Conflicts will be highlighted with a red box, but you can still click “OK” to confirm.) • Fixed a crash when too many items are dropped (e.g. pressing F8 repeatedly in VS Mode). • Fixed a crash that occurred during the final phase of Stage 1 (when the two Marks appea...
