    Meet Preach

Hey Starfinders ⭐Last week we introduced you to Kole. This week, we bring you the second companion in the demo.Meet Preach:A Shirren Mystic and devoted priest of the church of Hylax. Wise, ambitious, and never seen without the Golden Larva tucked safely in his robes.Preach is the party's healer and support, but do not let the robes fool you. Behind the calm demeanor is someone who has decided that history will remember his name."Each one of our choices, no matter how insignificant they may seem, are forging a legend. I like to take my time. I want mine to live forever!"Designing PreachPreach's design draws from monastic traditions across different cultures, translated into the Starfinder universe through the lens of a Shirren: the quilted robes, the measured posture, the quiet authority. Close to the chest, you will notice the indestructible force field that keeps the larva safe at all times.Preach intro:Voiced by Neil Newbon, known for his role as Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3. Neil is also our voice director, shaping the performances of the entire cast.Next Week: Meet Sterling, the Borai Solarian and the third companion joining your party in the demo.See you in the Drift 💫 The Epictellers Team💬 Stay Connected🪐 Join our amazing Discord community ✨ Wishlist on Steam if you haven't! 🌟 Follow us on - Instagram, Bluesky, Youtube, X 💌 Sign up for our newsletter

    Get to Know Kole

Hello Starfinders ⭐Following last week's demo announcement, it's the right time to introduce you to the first companion you will meet in the demo.Meet Kole:A Vesk Soldier, built like a tank, with enough firepower to back it up. In combat, Kole is exactly what you would expect: heavy weapons, suppressive fire, and a tolerance for incoming damage that borders on unreasonable.Off the battlefield, he is something else entirely. The other Kole:Kole is the heart of the party. Warm and funny, quietly carrying dreams that have nothing to do with fighting. He will take a bullet for any one of the team without thinking twice."The trick is to keep moving forward, even if there is no applause."Kole in-game 3D ModelKole behind the scenes:Watch Kole & Tycho last year reveal trailer:Voiced by the stellar Fred Tatasciore (Soldier 76 in Overwatch, Saren Arterius in Mass Effect, and the Hulk across multiple Marvel productions). Comics in Motion

Hey Starfinders ⭐Last week we introduced the Golden Larva plushie. This week, we have one of our creative development challenges: how we built the animatics for Afterlight. These are the motion comic sequences that play between acts, giving the story context and setting the tone before you take control. Here is how they get made.Ideation, script, and rough sketches The narrative team comes up with the initial concept for the animatic, taking into account what purpose it will serve for the story and flow of the game. After some discussion, we worked on some rough sketches or "thumbnails" of what would be represented visually on screen. A fully fledged script is then made by the narrative team, followed by a more polished storyboard. Like the last step, this is a back-and-forth process, tweaking each of these on every step to better fit the narrative and technical limitations.Storyboarding & Animatic Once the direction was clear, we put together a rough animatic to check the rhythm of the scenes and overall storytelling pace. Also featuring extremely silly placeholder audio (we reserve that for the director's cut).Final Art and Animation  Now for one of the longest steps of the process. When everything is locked in place, the illustrative work can begin to take shape, working on each frame that will be needed for the final product. After the art assets are ready, individual scenes are translated to the Godot engine, where, through animation players, it starts coming to life piece by piece.Voice Acting and Sound Design  When visuals are done, only sound is missing to bring it to life. With our amazing group of voice actors and our sound designer, the animation quickly comes together. More on this in a future update.A Last-Minute Adjustment  We were not 100% convinced with the result, especially at full screen. The pacing was off, and the animation at that scale was not quite working within our resources and style. So we decided that, using the original scenes, we could ...
