In "a wicked game," your mission is clear yet fraught with mystery. As you explore, remember: the rules aren't written down but will be shown to you one way or another.

About this game

niko no games: "How does it feel to know you are having the intended experience?"
playtester: "Terrible."

In A Wicked Game, the rules are unclear or incomplete. There may or may not be feedback. Patterns will be hard to find. A Wicked Game demands the player know things which are never taught, demands that they contort themselves to a constantly-changing control scheme, and success requires mastery combined with luck. The characters you meet are deliberately inhospitable. They are impatient, rude, and inconsistent. They will help you and harm you, but it will be unclear which is happening. Trust is hard to find here.

Good luck.

Game Features:

  • No two playthroughs are the same! Work your way through a random selection of over 100 difficult and unique individual levels.

  • You will be at the whims and wills of your keyboard and mouse. Embrace the chaotic inputs of each moment, or perish.

  • Dissolve into the game's soothing and colorful environments as you fight for your life.

  • As you twist and contort, enjoy a cacophony of delightful sound effects including an entire keyboard of notes and sounds to compose with.

  • Didn't beat the game on your first attempt? Don't worry, just start over from the beginning.

warning: if you are on the gifted-kid-to-burnt-out-adult pipeline, some gameplay elements may be all too familiar.

Accessibility Update 01! (New Capsule Art too!)

Hello everyone! We're back with an exciting update to the demo here. Most notably, we added a few accessibility features! (more are coming in the full release, stay tuned) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45507835/61c90a0ce71326e78de339f7ea4a66734f5376da.gif Firstly, custom death colors! Some players reported eye strain on levels which were heavily covered in red. Now, you can choose any color you want for the death areas. This was a playful way to achieve a better gameplay experience for some folks, while also having a little fun. This will help you keep things fresh as you grind to try and beat the demo. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45507835/b489accc5d23d83341c75f938997a9a4d4686341.png Second, Tiny Hands Mode! In short, some players literally could not reach the game controls. This mode will limit the distance between each input on any individual level. You're welcome, tiny-hands-havers! Everything else: When returning to title screen, the intro animation has been shortened. Back into the gameplay faster! Huge update to the title screen! Added settings panel finally - allows you to access game volume, death area color, etc. Also available from the pause menu. Huge thanks to Indiana-Jonas for the brand new game box/capsule art! He's been added to the game info-credits page. Look at that beautiful art! AND (other various secret updates and bug fixes) ;) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45507835/725cb431b514edd17b3a08390fe097ebda6ca0e5.png Lots of other small things in the background. But that's all I will share for now. Lots of folks have been playing, but nobody has beaten it yet! You could be the first - do you have what it takes? Don't forget to join the discord! Happy suffering

    Demo Updates!

Hi folks! Many thanks to everyone who has been playing the demo so far. Ove r the last few days I have made several improvements. I'm here to share a quick list of some of the changes. Thankfully no new bugs have come up since my post ~2 days ago. Several QOL additions have been made to the title screen, including clearer ways to close out of menus and some tooltips for the top-right buttons. (Escape also closes the menus) I added a pause menu! I did not feel this was in the spirit of the game, but I've realized that a pause menu absolutely is if implemented correctly. :) You can pause the game any time once you've entered the first level by pressing escape. The first level has been modified to fit the game a little better. After this, I will lower the frequency of these updates. I don't want to flood anyone's feeds with short updates, instead dropping more thorough (but less frequent) updates. Keep in touch more regularly by joining the discord. PS: If you beat it, don't forget to let me know! Many have played, but I have not heard of anyone successfully beating it. You could be the first! That's all for now - happy gaming! -Niko
