Goodbye, Unity! Thank you for everything
As you all know, Into the Void is a game that I, INVAL, have been developing almost entirely on my own for over four years. However, because I started building this game when I was younger, messy legacy code continued to stack up to the point where further development became nearly impossible. On top of that, the game performed terribly on certain laptop models, and massive GC bottlenecks led to awful optimization, causing framerates to drop all the way down to 10 FPS as more enemies filled the screen. So over the past seven months, I worked on porting Into the Void from Unity over to my own custom engine (INVALEngine), and I finally succeeded. ~ Changes made during the engine transition ~The game file size has been reduced from 1.7 GB (as of September 21) down to 70 MB. Discord Rich Presence is now much more detailed. Game frame rate optimization has improved by more than three times. Modding support and Steam Workshop integration are now officially confirmed. All achievement bugs have been resolved. The color scheme options in accessibility settings were completely reworked and revamped, fixing all related bugs. Enemy hit detection has been fully overhauled, resolving collision issues and hit bugs. The scoring system is now much more precise. Certain UI designs were completely redesigned and improved. Various other polish tasks have been completed. Loading times are now seven times faster. Since the engine is built on C++, it offers native Steam API integration. This made multiplayer development far easier, officially confirming multiplayer support for the full release.Read full article on Community Announcements (INVAL)Patch NotesOfficial
