In Emberwake, navigate the dark fantasy world as you guide your villagers through perilous challenges, ensuring their survival by gathering essential supplies and fending off relentless waves of undead.
About this game

Emberwake is a 2D survival strategy game where you must protect the last ember of hope in a world plunged into darkness. Lead your villagers, gather resources, build defenses, and fend off relentless waves of undead as you struggle to keep your campfire alive.

Your campfire is the heart of your village, providing warmth, light, and the will to survive. During the day, send your villagers out to gather essential resources—wood, stone, and food—to prepare for the night’s onslaught. Build and upgrade defensive structures around your campfire, ensuring that your village is ready for the impending darkness.
As the sun sets, the undead emerge from the shadows, drawn to your campfire. Each night brings more enemies, and your survival depends on your ability to defend your camp and keep the fire burning. Every decision you make is crucial—will you strengthen your defenses, or risk sending your villagers out for one last supply run?

Resource management is key to survival in Emberwake. Carefully balance the needs of your village by allocating tasks to your villagers, from chopping wood and mining stone to hunting and gathering food. Use your resources to construct new buildings and upgrade your existing structures, ensuring your village can withstand the growing threat of the undead.
As you expand your village, new challenges arise. Over-harvesting resources can lead to scarcity, while upgrading your campfire and buildings unlocks new opportunities for growth and defense. Manage your resources wisely to keep your villagers alive and your campfire burning through the darkest nights.

In Emberwake, combat is a test of strategy and endurance. Arm your villagers with weapons purchased from the Mystic Merchant, and position them strategically to fend off waves of skeletons, shadow creatures, and other dark forces. Upgrade your defenses with towers, barricades, and other fortifications to hold back the horde.
As the nights grow longer and the enemies stronger, you’ll need to adapt your tactics to survive. Will you focus on strengthening your defenses, or take the fight to the undead with a more aggressive approach? The choice is yours, but beware—one mistake could spell the end of your village.

Every decision in Emberwake matters. The dynamic day-night cycle brings new threats as darkness deepens, challenging you to adapt and rethink your strategies as the game progresses. Balancing resource management, defense building, and combat tactics is crucial to surviving in this unforgiving world.
Survival depends on your ability to anticipate and overcome the growing challenges as the nights grow longer and the enemies more fearsome. Whether you’re a master strategist or a newcomer to the genre, Emberwake offers a deep and engaging experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Emberwake’s Biggest Update Yet
A New Chapter for EmberwakeHello, Guardians!I’ve been hard at work on Emberwake, improving the game and adding new ways to play. This update brings a full campaign, direct control over your villagers, new dangers, better saving, game-speed controls, and many improvements throughout the game. Here’s what’s new.Follow the Story Through a New CampaignEmberwake now has an eight-mission campaign following the survivors from their first campfire to their final chance of escape. Each mission has its own story, goals, starting conditions, and challenges. You’ll begin by gathering supplies and protecting a small camp. As the journey continues, you’ll build stronger defenses, meet unusual characters, face deadlier attacks, and search for a way to save your people. The eight missions are:First FireBroken WatchtowerThe Raider CampThe Graves OpenThe Silent BellThe Owl RoadThe Gate StonesThe Last PortalLater missions won’t always begin with an empty field. You may inherit part of an old settlement, but its buildings could be damaged and its defenses weakened. You’ll need to rebuild before the next attack arrives.Step Into the World as a VillagerYou can now take direct control of a selected villager and experience the settlement from their perspective.Walk through the village, gather resources, carry supplies back to storage, pick up equipment, and fight nearby enemies yourself. You can also switch between villagers or return to the usual command view whenever you want.I’ve spent a lot of time making direct control feel clear and responsive. Nearby resources and equipment are easier to spot, attacks face the correct direction, and villagers return to their normal duties more reliably when you release control.Be careful when exploring the edges of the map. Wolves may appear from the wilderness and chase villagers who wander too far from safety.Beware the Minotaur LabyrinthA new world event is waiting to be discovered. While gathering stone, your villagers may uncover a buried labyrinth...Read full article on Community Announcements (NeLer93)Patch NotesOfficial

Emberwake - A Milestone Reached & Future Plans
Greetings, survivors! It has been a few months since Emberwake launched on Steam on November 10th, 2024. As a solo developer, I embarked on this journey with no dedicated marketing, just a passion for creating a challenging and immersive experience. Despite this, I am incredibly proud to share that Emberwake has sold over 550 units on Steam! For a game developed in just one month, this milestone means the world to me, and I want to thank each and every one of you who supported the game, played it, and even shared it with friends. The game has been featured on a few smaller YouTube channels, which has been fantastic to see, and the feedback from players has been invaluable. Many of you have expressed interest in seeing Emberwake expand with new content, and after taking a short break, I’m ready to dive back into development with some exciting updates! First: Bug Fixes & Improvements Before introducing new content, I will be addressing some important bug fixes and improvements based on player feedback. Some of the key fixes include: Saved games not loading world events properly – Ensuring that saved progress correctly retains and restores world events. Villagers freezing mid-game – Fixing AI pathfinding and behavior issues to ensure smooth gameplay. Various other optimizations – Improving overall performance, stability, and minor gameplay tweaks. What’s Coming Next? I want to enhance Emberwake with new additions to deepen the gameplay experience while staying true to its core mechanics. Here’s what I’m working on: New Enemy Types – Get ready to face fresh threats beyond the undead. Outlaws, goblins, and even darker creatures will soon roam the land. More Random Events – Expect new unpredictable challenges and opportunities that will make each playthrough even more dynamic and rewarding. A Single-Player Campaign – This is the big one. I’m developing a brand-new campaign mode, offering an entirely fresh experience for Emberwake. Through a series of handcrafted missions,...Read full article on Community Announcements (NeLer93)Patch NotesOfficial

Emberwake Update – Survival Rebalanced and New Features Added!
🔥 Emberwake Update – Your Feedback, My Fixes! 🔥 Hey Emberwake survivors! I’ve been listening carefully to all the feedback you shared after playing the demo, and I’m excited to show you how your voice has shaped the game! It’s been quite the journey rebalancing and refining Emberwake to make survival more enjoyable, while still keeping things challenging. Let’s dive into the changes: ⚔️ Survival Just Got Smarter Starting with one lonely villager? I heard you loud and clear—it was tough! Now, you’ll kick off your adventure with two villagers by your side, and the pace of the game has been fine-tuned. I’ve tweaked the resource gathering speed and adjusted how much you spend to keep things running smoothly. You’ll notice gathering resources feels quicker and more rewarding, but without losing the sense of struggle. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45212199/6ab411bb39e9810831a7d31c55db80f88cc099d5.png 🌲 Resources Replenish Faster Say goodbye to waiting ages for resources to come back! The land around your camp will now replenish resources faster, giving you more time to focus on strategy. It’s a delicate balance, so they don’t come back too quickly, but just enough to keep the pressure off without ruining the survival thrill. 🏰 New Buildings, New Strategies I’ve expanded the buildings you can construct, making your survival even more interesting: The Owlery: No more guessing where the enemy is coming from—this will reveal the enemy’s attack direction. The Temple: Keep your villagers’ minds in check! With each upgrade, the Temple slows down sanity loss, ensuring your villagers stay focused on survival. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45212199/70efcfc2d0f844f299414c5d4b0c562e6562fbe6.png 🧠 Sanity – A New Challenge The old mechanic of villagers disappearing when off-camera at night? Gone. Now, you’ll deal with the Sanity System. As your villagers venture too far from the warmth of the campfire while it is dark, their sanity will start to slip. Question marks will pop up as their minds weaken, and if...Read full article on Community Announcements (NeLer93)
