📍Timeline: Past Present and Future
Hey there, I'm Kay. I'm a solo developer and artist. Although I've worked on many smaller projects prior to this one, Welcome to the Syndicate is my first serious game. I'm super excited to share this journey with all of you!PastAlthough the story of this cast long proceeds the conception of the game, Syndicate's first proof of concept started back in January of 2026. It started as most of my game ideas do as a Google Doc. What was just a personal challenge to see if I could design my own unique version of HunieCam Studio (a game that I don't typically share that I maxed out achievements on), has now taken up a life of it's own.📋From Concept to Prototype - Feb 2026The issue I typically run into is jumping far too quickly into game art before the game actually is fun. For Syndicate, I found my happy medium between concept and prototype. Once the main game loop was implemented and working, I allowed myself to plop in some black and white artwork simply for the intention of having play testers understand what they were interacting with.🍼Baby's first Playtest - May 2026Which leads me to my first every playtest! Special shoutout to my roommate, best friend, and (literal) in-house beta tester Cassie. Not only is she astounding at breaking my game, but she is an equally wonderful cheerleader during both emotional low and high periods throughout this process.🎨Finding a Brand - June 2026While playtest feedback rolled in, I chose to take this little programming break to explore my visual branding for Welcome to the Syndicate.Thankfully I had some doodles from earlier in...Read full article on Community Announcements (Kay Illustrations)
