About this game
DIG, FIGHT, AND SURVIVE IN A ROGUELIKE FROZEN DESERT
"...one of my favorite games of the year so far." Kotaku - Indie of the Week
You Are Froggy...
...a determined survivor in a hostile, snowy desert. Dig pathways through the snow, battle eerie creatures, and adapt in a world where warmth is survival and the freezing temperatures aren’t the only thing that can kill!
The Survival Loop
Each run begins at the warm safety of your home. From there, you’ll:
Venture out into the snowy desert
Dig with hands, shovels, flamethrowers, or even explosives
Uncover scattered treasures, traps, and enemies
Carry resources back home to deposit them and grow stronger
Progress through frozen wastelands
Each new map hides its own boss, as well as unique dangers and mysteries. Find enough keys to open the escape door — or spend them on treasure chests for powerful upgrades. Managing your resources wisely is the difference between survival and defeat.
Survival meets roguelike action
Every snowbank can hide treasures, traps, or lurking enemies. Carve pathways through interactive snow, use it as cover in combat, or blast and melt it to uncover what lies beneath. Stay too long in the cold and you’ll freeze — unless you’ve unlocked the right upgrades!
Upgrade, adapt, and experiment
Spend gems to develop your skills across multiple roguelite paths, and build your own playstyle:
Become a faster digger, a more formidable fighter, or resistant to the cold
Unlock shovels, flamethrowers, and explosives for new ways to dig and fight
Use skis to traverse the frozen desert at speed and pile your cart high with gems to unlock even more power
Recruit companions like helpful penguins, moles, or owls to aid your quest
Risk and reward in anomaly zones
Scattered across the frozen desert are mysterious anomaly zones. Entering them means facing deadly challenges — but surviving them rewards you with powerful treasures and rare artifacts. Each artifact adds to your growing collection, unlocking new possibilities for future runs.
Quirky yet dangerous
One moment, you’re a frog in a cozy sweater and scarf, digging peacefully through snow. Next, you’re battling eerie dark-fantasy obsidian creatures. Each enemy has unique behaviours — learn their weaknesses if you want to survive.
Cozy or core: play it your way
Need a break from facing the shadowy forces hunting you? Switch to Peaceful Mode and enjoy the relaxing loop as you search the snow for hidden treasures, solve puzzles, and escape at your own pace.

Night Mode & Comfort Settings
Hey everyone! One piece of feedback I've seen from players is that the bright snow can sometimes be a bit overwhelming during longer play sessions. If that's the case for you, don't forget that Froggy Hates Snow already includes several options to make the game much more comfortable to play. You can find them all in the game's Settings menu.Night Mode Night Mode isn't just a darker filter. It applies a cooler blue tint and adjusts the game's contrast and overall color balance to reduce the harsh brightness of the snow while keeping the world clear and readable.Whether you're playing at night or simply prefer a softer image, it's worth giving it a try.Screen Brightness If you simply want the game to be darker, you can also adjust the Screen Brightness slider.Unlike Night Mode, this option only changes the overall image brightness (gamma), similar to the brightness setting found in most games.UI ScalingPlaying on a TV? Steam Deck? High-resolution monitor? You can increase the UI size to make menus, health bars, and other interface elements much easier to read.Glitch Effect The Glitch Effect is used during various gameplay events as visual feedback to enhance the mood and atmosphere. If you find it too distracting or simply prefer a cleaner image, you can adjust its intensity using the Glitch Effect Strength slider in the Settings menu.Whether you want subtle distortion or the full effect, it's entirely up to you. Danger Area IndicatorsIf you're having trouble spotting incoming explosions, try increasing Danger Area Indicators from Medium to Maximum. This setting displays red warning circles showing where explosions are about to happen, making it much easier to react in time.It works for both Bomb enemies and Hidden Bomb Traps found while exploring. ---If you haven't checked the Settings menu in a while, it might be worth taking another look – there are quite a few options that can improve your experience. Thanks for playing and for all the great feedback!- SergeRead full article on Community Announcements (BanJamUK)AnnouncementsOfficial
Survival Tips & How Stats Stack
Hey everyone! Thanks to all the players who are still enjoying Froggy Hates Snow. Whether you’re new to the game or have been playing since launch, here are a few useful tips and mechanics that aren't always obvious when you're starting out.Finding the Escape Door FasterEach location contains three Small Heat Bubbles hidden near the boundary between the second and third rings, so you can always estimate their approximate locations. Why are they important? They let you warm up and upgrade without returning to your main base.Once all three Small Heat Bubbles have been discovered, your map reveals the possible Escape Door area with a purple striped zone.If your goal is to gather artifacts and meta currency, then safely escape, it can be worth prioritizing the discovery of all three Small Heat Bubbles first.Artifact SourcesArtifacts can only be obtained from a few specific activities:Anomaly Zones1x Common or Uncommon ArtifactTreasure Chest1x Rare or Legendary ArtifactFinal Boss1x Common or Uncommon Artifact1x Rare or Legendary ArtifactIf you're hunting for powerful artifacts, defeating the boss is by far the most rewarding option, though it's also the riskiest and most time-consuming approach. How Stats StackOne of the most common questions I’ve received is whether different upgrades stack together. In general, almost everything stacks together.Dig SpeedBody Strength -> Dig Speed stacks with Shovel -> Dig Speed. So yes, upgrading Body Strength will also improve shovel digging.Depending on your current upgrade levels, it's often worth comparing the value-to-price ratio of available upgrades before spending your gems.Heat ManagementHeat, Scarf, and Gloves stack together.Heat increases your overall temperature reserves.Scarf provides additional Heat bonuses.Gloves increase Heat while also improving Dig Speed.Movement Speed & SkisActual Ski Speed = Base Movement Speed + Extra Ski SpeedThis means that movement speed upgrades also improve your skiing speed.Dig Speed LimitDig Spee...Read full article on Community Announcements (BanJamUK)Patch NotesOfficial
