Explore the beauty of nature as you grow wild plants and trees, nurturing ecosystems and encountering diverse wildlife in this charming indie game.

About this game

Grow Wild is a cosy relaxing nature game where you grow real-life plants and trees to attract wildlife.

You’ll join the Grow Wild Nature Club and travel the globe transforming empty landscapes into thriving biodiverse ecosystems using real ecological principles.

The exuberant Professor Vicky Sponge will guide you on your adventure across 5 biomes as you rewild 15 diverse landscapes, discover 300 species, and witness how small actions grow into lasting ecological change and climate stability.

You’ll look at lizards, pick up pine cones, balance biomes, photograph falcons, sow seeds, trim trees, follow a frog, hide in a bush, surprise a snake, wait for a weasel, chat about chiff chaffs, and experience the magic, joy, and wonder of the natural world.

EXPLORE

Search for bees buzzing in foxglove, crows nesting high in ash trees, moths fluttering in the dark, snakes hiding under rocks, or spiders weaving webs in tall grass.

LEARN

Get to know every plant and creature in your nature book, understand what they need to thrive, and see how they fit into the wider ecosystem and food web.

CREATE

Forage for seeds and start growing habitats — plant wildflowers, build log piles, and create the perfect conditions to welcome new wildlife.

OBSERVE

Sit back and relax as your ecosystem comes to life - even when you’re not playing!

FEATURES

  • Fully Simulated Ecosystem - Everything in the game is simulated and interconnected, from thousands of sun rays changing tree growth, nectar levels in flowers, animal life cycles, seasons, weather systems, and day night cycles

  • A Peaceful Sandbox Experience - Create thriving habitats at your own pace, however you choose

  • Persistent World - Your habitats evolve and grow even when you’re not playing. The game time is 100x faster than real-world time, so if you come back one day later 100 days will have passed in the game

  • Real-World Species - Discover and learn about over 300 plants and animals within 5 biomes - each with unique needs and behaviours

  • Inspired by Real-Life Nature Conservation - This game is created by Philip Sinclair who has been growing and building real wildlife habitats for over 15 years in the UK countryside

  • Designed for learning - Strongly aligned with school science learning objectives - teaching biodiversity and ecosystems through play

  • Someone called Sid - A fellow nature fan who’s always nearby to help - or accidentally scare off a butterfly you’re about to identify!

Learn about real-life rewilding in "idle city-builder + creature collector" Grow Wild, which is taking playtest sign-ups

Spectrum48's Philip Sinclair has spent 15 years rewilding a field, "rewilding" being a process of restoring ecosystems to something like a state of 'natural' equilibrium. Now, he's making a videogame about it. That game is Grow Wild, which is currently accepting playtest sign-ups. It sees you restoring biomes across the globe, touching down on sickly square arcadias like an avenging angel equipped with a trowel, magnifying glass, and probably some tartan-pattern slippers, out of shot. It makes me think a little of Viva Pinata, but it's populated by representations of non-digital creatures, flowers and trees with convincing growth cycles. There are some lovely 'time lapse' shots in the trailer, below. Read more
