Cowmera Games September 2026 Studio Update
Hey everyone, Relentless Expanse is coming up on its 2-year anniversary in a few months, and our next game is still coming along well (hoping to announce it soon!), but I recently realized that I've never properly introduced the team behind Cowmera Games! So, here's everyone that's actively contributing to either Relentless Expanse or our upcoming game!Brock (MrCowdisease) - FounderAyyy, that's me! I'm the guy!!! I do a lot of coding, game design, and just lots of random things related to a game's success (QA, project management, community outreach, etc). I still consider 100%ing Hollow Knight and Celeste to be two of my greatest achievements to this day. I still haven't played Silksong tho (wtf? how?)Andrew Sutherland - Audio EngineerAndrew has been an audio engineer for 15 years, specializing in Musical Composition. He described himself as "Adept" in SFX, Dialogue Editing, and basic Audio Systems Implementation, but I prefer to use the term "Grandmaster Extraordinair". He's a multi-instrumentalist that's even made it into a few international magazines and radio shows with his metal music!http://www.threecrowaudio.com/ https://www.instagram.com/andybassface/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrew-sutherland-threecrowaudio/Timberlate/Timbo - ArtistTimbo primarily focuses on game visual design and 2D graphics, but creates everything from simple objects and textures to fully realized characters and animations. Literally every asset or piece of art that the studio has made public so far? Yep, that was him! His top 3 favorite games are Yakuza 0, RDR 2, and Skyrim (but only with mods of course). Quentin Tarantino is his favorite director, and he considers the restaurant massacre scene from the first Kill Bill to be the greatest action scene in human history.Discord: timberlate007https://x.com/Timberlate2Nessa - ArtistResident UI artist, he's the LEGEND behind the visual design for loads of systems for our upcoming game! He makes a bunch of buttons, designs the menus, and eve...Read full article on Community Announcements (MrCowdisease)Patch NotesOfficial
Cowmera Games August 2026 Studio Update
Hey everyone, this month I wanted to talk about something that I've been wanting to go into detail about for a while now; the history and creation of Relentless Expanse! Now, unlike many indie devs, Relentless Expanse isn't actually something I dreamed about making. I was very new (still kinda am) to game development, and I got the core gameplay idea from another free game on steam called Ruthless Conquest. You can probably tell that Relentless Expanse's name was inspired by it too! Me and my friends played it on and off randomly for several years, and I enjoyed the gameplay, but I always wished it just had more depth to it. The developer didn't update the game since he mainly made it for fun (very valid), but that made me a little sad since I genuinely enjoyed it but I knew that some of the more frustrating or missing features would never be updated. As lots of gamers do, I imagined creating my own version of the game, or updating/modding it myself, but at the time I didn't have the knowledge, or motivation, to really act on that.Eventually though, in 2024, I actually started getting pretty heavily into game development, including teaching myself how to code, how to use Godot, and playing around with several random small starter projects that I made from scratch. All of them were... quite horrible, but it eventually gave me enough confidence that I could actually make a game worthy of being released on Steam if I put enough effort into it. My friends had been joking around for a while that I should just create an updated version of Ruthless Conquest myself, and I honestly didn't have any other ideas that had a relatively small scope... so I just did lol. I started planning on roughly what the gameplay and UI would look like, I made a Game Design Document, and on August 26th (almost 2 years ago!) I created and made the first commit to GitHub for Relentless Expanse! The core gameplay itself was actually finished insanely quickly. In less than a month, almost every mai...Read full article on Community Announcements (MrCowdisease)Patch NotesOfficial
Update v0.6.8 - Ko-fi Announcement, New Font, New Map, and Maintenance Fixes!
For this month, we have another Relentless Expanse update rather than just a studio update! For this update, we mainly focused on general maintenance for the game, but there's still a new map from last month's event, and we decided to get a little experimental with a new font (mwahahaha >:)ALSO, before I get to the exact changes, I wanted to let everyone know that we have a Ko-fi now! Our next game will be monetized, but Relentless Expanse isn't, and I've just been turning down donation requests for more than a year now... which feels a bit silly. So, I've set up a Ko-fi that we can accept donations from! To thank players that donate, we've also added a "Supporter" role in our discord, which basically makes you a VIP playtester! Regardless of whether you all choose to donate or not, thank you for playing, and I hope you enjoy the changes!https://ko-fi.com/cowmera_gamesAdded the new "Jellyfish" map and achievementChanged the default font, and made the font look (hopefully) better in general! I know it may be a bit jarring at first but let me know what you all think about it after you get used to it (and if any text still looks weird or hasn't been updated)Added a warning if you have a challenge or income modifier selectedFixed a bug where planets were spawning way close together, or even overlappingFixed an issue where planets would sometimes spawn on top of or too close to hyperlanes, causing ships to interact with that planet insteadHopefully fixed a rare bug where Steam Stat-based achievements randomly got their progress "wiped" (such as number of multiplayer and singleplayer wins)A few other random smaller bugs (trust me bro)As for the studio update, I have a limited number of topics to cover so I wanted to save a more detailed update post for the next month that doesn't have a game update. That being said, this update has paved the way for more content updates, which the game has been sorely lacking lately! There are (almost) no known bugs remaining, and multipl...Read full article on Community Announcements (MrCowdisease)Patch NotesOfficial
Update v0.6.7 - Cowmera Games 1-Year Anniversary Update + Event
Before I start talking about anything else, I first wanted to say that we’re hosting an event on our community discord server to celebrate the 1-Year Anniversary for Cowmera Games! Do you have a map idea that you’ve always wanted in the game? Now’s your chance to add it! Check #announcements for more details: https://discord.com/invite/ZjaBnbDVcU Now, I’ll have a long and hopefully interesting studio update below, but let’s first talk about the update! For this one, we REALLY wanted to finally fix multiplayer. We know that this has been a long-standing issue for quite a while now, and frankly, despite our best attempts, we really haven’t had the capability to properly address it until recently. That being said, we’ve hunted down dozens of multiplayer-specific bugs, fixed the long-standing lag/desync issues, and overall hopefully made multiplayer perform almost as well as singleplayer! I’m sure that there are some things we missed, but at the bare minimum the multiplayer should be actually enjoyable rather than a broken mess that some people basically couldn’t even play. While we were at it, we also fixed several random singleplayer bugs that we found or were reported! I genuinely hope that all of you enjoy playing the new update with your friends, and we’ll make sure that the next one has some content to go along with it as well!Since this is the 1-Year Anniversary of our studio, I also thought it’d be fun to bring up some numbers for those that are interested! Since its release, Relentless Expanse has had more than 5,400 people play the game! Of those, we currently have 118 in the discord server, and our largest concurrent player count was 45 players in August of 2025 whenever a streamer tried the game out! …And then trashed on it for breaking instantly whenever he brought 30+ people into a lobby LOL. Seriously though, as fun and exciting as it’s been to see Relentless Expanse become something that so many people enjoy, we still want to make it better, while also w...Read full article on Community Announcements (MrCowdisease)Patch NotesOfficial
Cowmera Games May 2026 Studio Update
Hey everyone, we're not dead! We've been hard at work on our next game for the studio (hint hint), although I can understand why you would think otherwise since we've been deathly silent since the 1-year anniversary update for Relentless Expanse. So, although we're not quite ready to announce anything, I wanted to break that silence! This will be the first monthly studio update for Cowmera Games, where I'll focus on telling you all more about the studio, what we've been doing, what we plan to do, and plenty more fun stuff! So, while we're not quite ready to tease our next game (more on that next month?), I figured now would be the best time to introduce myself and the brief history of our studio! Before Cowmera Games, and while we were still developing Relentless Expanse, it was just me (MrCowdisease), our awesome artist (Timberlate), and our musical genius (Andrew Sutherland). Me and Andrew met while working on a different project, which never saw the light of day, and Timber joined us after I found him on the mystical and terrifying forums of Reddit. After that, we honestly kinda speedran making Relentless Expanse considering our experience. It really only took about 4 months to go from idea to release, which was impressive, but of course came with its own issues. As many of you know, the game has had more than just a couple of issues in many aspects, and the initial state of it upon release was frankly pretty barebones even compared to just a few months afterwards. Still, despite all of that, the game was able to reach thousands of players, got 90% positive reviews, and still has hundreds of monthly users! So, since the game had some pretty decent success, especially considering we were all complete newbies and put very little thought into advertisement, we decided to try forming a studio! I took the helm since I was basically already leading the operation, and since I was able/willing to shoulder the financial risks. We deliberated for a while, and ultimately decide...Read full article on Community Announcements (Cowmera Games)
