Take control of a crew of rebels in Canvas City, where every move you make on roller skates changes the city's fate. Navigate through strategic battles and artistic challenges as you fight for freedom in this unique indie RPG.

About this game

Once a vibrant hub of music, movement, and creative energy, Canvas City is now a sterilized sprawl of luxury apartments, corporate towers, and silent streets. Public art is outlawed. Music permits are impossible to obtain. Citizens drift through life, silent and uninspired. But from the cracks in the pavement, a new wave is rising.

Crews of dancers, musicians, and graffiti artists are reclaiming the streets, forming the underground league of Spark Skating and battling for territory, expression, and change. Your crew, the Fire Starters, are the newest challengers: small, scrappy, and full of potential.

Climb the ranks. Earn your following. Spark a movement.

Movement is more than positioning; it’s performance. Weave together your movement and actions as you plan how you want to navigate each characters turn. Use the city’s rails, ramps, and vertical terrain to chain together tricks mid-turn to earn Style Points that fuel your strongest abilities.

Tag spots scattered across each level aren’t just decoration - they’re targets. Tag them to claim territory and generate Style Points for your crew, but be ready to defend your mark from rival gangs aiming to wipe your name from the city walls.

Each district is claimed by a different crew with their own agenda - from corporate-sponsored squads to fame-hungry influencers and chaotic performance artists. Outsmart their tactics to demoralize your opponents, claim victory and grow your follower count!

The Fire Starters begin as a team of four and expand their roster as you progress. Every crew member has a unique style and skillset. Mix and match classes, tricks, and trinkets to create your perfect loadout for each mission.

Game Features:

  • Original Story and Setting:  Uncover the truth behind Canvas City’s cultural crackdown in a campaign packed with rival crews, mysterious figures, and evolving characters.

  • Master Over 80 Unique Abilities & Tricks:  Equip your crew with a wide range of combat powers - buffs, debuffs, zone control, mobility tricks, and more. Every character brings something different to the table.

  • Recruit and Customize Your Team: Unlock 12 recruitable characters across the campaign. Each one has a distinct style, backstory, and ability choices to shape to your playstyle.

  • Clear Bonus Objectives and Build Your Garage: Complete side goals to earn rare upgrades, unlock new items, and fill out your Garage - your crew’s hub for loadouts, backstories, and pre-mission planning.

  • Replay Missions to Climb the Rankings: Revisit levels to refine your strategy, maximize your score, and earn the highest possible rank on every stage.

Canvas City Devlog #2: Inside the Underground Spark Skate Scene

Canvas City officials like to present their city as a model modern metropolis; clean streets, efficient infrastructure and living expectations maintained and curated to a carefully controlled standard. Under the watch of the Artistic Control Unit (ACU), public spaces are becoming regimented, standardized, and increasingly difficult to distinguish from one another. But something far less orderly is also gaining momentum in Canvas City. Across rooftops, suspended wires and the reaches of the city, crews of young skaters are building a culture of their own away from the carefully monitored streets. It’s called spark skating.Striking the SparkSpark skating is an unsanctioned and mostly uncontrolled underground sport built around modified electric skates. Exactly where the technology came from depends on who you ask; Some claim the first pair was an advertising stunt that went wrong, only to inspire a group of extreme sports enthusiasts. Others say it emerged in response to increased surveillance on the street level and so people looked for less visible routes through the city. Whatever the origin, the group that brought spark skating to the attention of the wider public was Ignition, an artistic collective that used spark skating to access the far reaches of Canvas City to spread their message, their music and performance.By then the Artistic Control Unit had already begun tightening its control over public gatherings, performances and unauthorized creative work. Ignition’s appearances could no longer be announced openly without the ACU turning up and dispersing the gathering. Those hoping to see Ignition perform began finding other ways to exchange information and communicate. Private message boards, invite-only forums and encrypted group chats appeared to share sightings, trade rumors and co-ordinate around performances. And then these spaces became about more than just Ignition.Going UndergroundPeople began sharing skate modifications, discussing routes through the ci...

    Demo Patch Notes v0.1.1

Thank you to everyone who has tried out the demo and especially to those who have taken the time to leave a review!Your feedback on the game so far has been very helpful for letting us know what parts of game you're enjoying the most (shoutout to the music!), areas we can tweak to improve the gameplay and interesting ideas to look at adding in the future. The team has especially enjoyed watching the Twitch streams from a few of you including Charmeleighon, ShadowStew and Gladiator50n!While feedback has been mostly positive so far, we have heard from our multi-lingual players that some of the localization could be better. We're investigating with our localization provider now to see what can be done to help ensure that the tone and story of Canvas City comes through loud and clear no matter what language you're playing in, so watch this space! In the meantime, here are a few fixed issues and changes in the latest demo build.Changelog for v0.1.1:Updated the Gatcha screens so that it formats correctly in aspect ratios wider or narrower than 16:9.UI in the Hangout and Battle screens is now anchored to the center of the screen in aspect ratios wider than 16:9.Removed an inaccessible ramp from level 'Mascot Mayhem'.Improvements to unit shadows.Moving the mouse no longer interrupts camera rotation with keyboard Q and E keys.Panning the camera with keyboard WASD keys is no longer stopped by rotating the camera.Adjusted volume for the SFX of several abilities.Fixed inconsistent behavior when cancelling movement over an obstacle.Fixed the XP not filling on the Crew or Unit Inspect screens.Fixed a soft lock that would occur in the tutorial when selecting a unit past an obstacle.Fixed several errors in Japanese localization.Corrected spelling of 'color' in settings tooltips.Fixed incorrect rounding of abilities ATK values.Fixed text not appearing in game for some Windows regions.
