Rediscovering stuff from the past №3

New memories about items from our team! Our lead pixel artist chose: GachimuchigotchiMy favorite toy from that era was the Tamagotchi. I remember seeing one at my older sister’s place. She wouldn’t let me play with it, probably because she was afraid I’d break it. But seeing how much I liked it, she eventually gave me one of my own. And that’s how I got my first Tamagotchi. Along with all the good memories, though, came the sadness of watching your little pet die no matter how hard you tried to take care of it. :( From our devs: FruiteThe legendary green \ with a cactus inside. It was one of the main ways we spent the money we’d saved on school lunches - and definitely our favorite. The drink seemed incredibly cool and exotic: you’d shake the bottle, and there were those little pieces floating around inside. We used to argue with our friends about whether it was actually real cactus or if we were being fooled. I believed the cactus was real... And another thing I vividly remember was the thirst meter printed on the side of the bottle. Remember that? Whole-Life \ completely changed the way I looked at games. At the time, its technology, storytelling, and overall presentation completely blew my mind. Nothing else had ever given me emotions that strong.I remember bringing a pirated copy to school for PE to show a friend, even though I hadn't played it myself yet. I just sat there, completely absorbed. And by pure coincidence, I finished the first game on my friend's recommendation just a month before the second one came out. I knew absolutely nothing about it, and then I got completely immersed in everything. This game and its universe, as well as the developers themselves, gave me some of my strongest gaming memories and emotions.(Gonna go sniff some copium about the third game) Let us know if you recall anything too, and stay tuned for news!

Geek Shop’s secret connection to Lenin...

You’re probably wondering: what does Lenin have to do with our game?Well, it's all from Soviet propaganda brainwashing us our history and cultural background. After the 1917 Revolution, Soviet authorities began renaming streets after government figures and the ideology of the new regime. Vladimir Lenin became the most prominent symbol of this movement, so his name started popping up in practically every city:Imagine if the last name Smith wasn't just based name for fake IDs, but was also used to name streets everywhere. Eventually, almost every city/even village in the country ended up with a Lenin Street, and quite often it was the main street of the town. So, if you've ever been to Russia, there's a good chance you've been on Lenin Street. That's why we chose it as the setting for our game: it's probably the most universally recognizable street name for us.(WE'RE NOT COMMUNISTS, WE SWEAR) And here's a little spoiler: politics will actually play a small role in our game...You'll encounter the police, city Mayor, young silly protesters, and all sorts of social commentary - all within the context of the story. After all, there's a reason we call it a narrative simulator!

Rediscovering stuff from the past №2

Back to more items and stories from our team! This time, from our programmers:Sgushenka"I had a huge sweet tooth as a kid. I remember eating condensed milk by the spoon - literally heaping every teaspoon as high as it could go. I'd only drink tea so I could eat even more of it. It was basically condensed milk with tea, not the other way around. Bread? Add condensed milk. Tea or coffee? They definitely needed condensed milk too! The absolute best was bread with butter and condensed milk."Chicken Instant Noodles"Good old Doshirak. Back in our early school years, my friends and I would stop by the local store and each grab a small pack while hanging out after school or on weekends. We never had much money, so it became our go-to snack. We'd crush the noodles right inside the package, sprinkle in the seasoning, shake it all up, and there you had it - the perfect cheap alternative to chips. Then we'd wander around our neighborhood or explore abandoned buildings, munching on dry chicken instant noodles until it was finally time to head home."We'd love to hear your warm memories connected to items from the 2000s!

Rediscovering stuff from the past №1

Today we'll start telling you about the goods that Kirill sells at his shop. Our team took inspiration for many of the items in the game straight from our own 2000s. For some, it was early childhood; for others, they were already deep into playing pogs with friends; and some weren't even born yet. That's why every memory about an item will be personal and special: Max OuchFrom our Creative Director: "For me, Max Payne is a legendary game. My brother and I played through it together, and it was one of the first games of my childhood. Its realistic textures, Sam Lake's smirk, Bullet time, and the noir storyline remain some of my most vivid gaming memories." NinjatoFrom our Lead Game Designer: "My brother and I would wait for hours for a Naruto episode to load it online. We'd start loading in the morning, leave for school, and watch it in the evening with one-voice dubbing. Then in fourth grade, I was shocked to find a Naruto coloring book at the kiosk in my village where we bought hot dogs after school. I didn't like coloring books, but I bought it on principle. And if I had seen a CD with episodes there, I would have bought several without a doubt." We'd love to hear if you got to have these items when you were younger, and what warm memories you have with other things!
