====================
I don't want to waste your time, so here's a quick rundown of the game:
Selling Points
- "Strip 'em up" turn-based bullet hell gameplay for many of the characters. Meet the right people, do a good job, knock off their clothes. Simple as that.
- 6+ fully romanceable characters (maybe there are some secret ones -- you'll have to find out).
- Several other "partially romanceable" characters.
- Interactive adult (NSFW) scenes and art. (Thanks to the amazing, gifted Hatdog Guhitera yinyang, and Calx for the art!)
- Adult (NSFW) sound clips accompany many of the NSFW interactions in the game. (Thanks to the lovely, talented Cynth for voice work!)
- Potentially funny and/or deep writing at times. Some people might not think so.
- No censorship, full nudity.
- You can sniff (almost) every bed. It's a long story.
- A fully-unique, custom "battle dating" system that helps liven up RPG Maker by not using the traditional native battle system.
- Fully-fleshed out fantasy story narrative where you play a new mage at a prestigious academy, destined to save the Andere Realm.
- Many secrets, if you know where to look.
- A handful of minigames, some of which parody other games that are much better than mine, such as "Parchment, Please" and "Like a Phoenix: Mage Attorney."
- A warning system for letting people consent only to the content they want to see.
- Many (but not all) books in the game are fully readable. There are likely a couple hours of content just in the reading.
- Many random events for the female main character to be the target of NPC desire.
- Some innocence/corruption gameplay elements, generally revolving around the six main stats.
- A hidden character that will give you NSFW instructions to follow in real life, if desired and if playing as the male main character.
- A panty collection system, with general pairs collected in high numbers, and specific pairs from specific romantic interests collected as trophies.
- A spell that lets you summon a wolf you can pet whenever you want (yes, I do think this is a selling point).
- The ability to get an X-Ray helm that lets you run around peeking under clothes.
- A full postgame that still allows you to do some of the minigames and romance some of the characters even after you've completed the plot. The postgame also includes bonus art and a bonus village to visit.
Drawbacks
- Resolution. It's a limitation of RPG Maker VX Ace. You CAN get full screen with F1 while playing, if you want. (Note: It has been found in testing that this can cause some text to get cut off; limitation of the engine)
- Scenes aren't animated. It just wasn't in the budget. I focused on commissioning versatile, quality art instead.
- Hit boxes can be finicky, another RPG Maker VX Ace limitation. Best to avoid bullets or stand still well ahead of time. About half the time, the finicky nature works out in the player's favor, however. The mechanic of not moving when bullets are close is key to combat, and trying to "outsmart" the engine often results in damage. I recommend moving one square at a time very carefully when you're in a tight spot.
- While this game was already playtested extensively, I developed it entirely on my own. Bugs are still possible. I will try to get fixes out, but you might have to make a new save.
- The game could have benefited from full voice acting and more poses/facial expressions, to be honest. I'm happy with what's here, but I wanted you to be aware.
- A warning system for letting people consent only to the content they want to see. Yes, this is also under Selling Points. I feel many people won't want to have to click past a warning to see NSFW content, but it was important to me for this game. Hopefully it's not too obtrusive.
- The "go everywhere, get everything, do everything" play time is probably only about 10-15 hours max. You could speed run this game in 3-5. I did try to add replayability, but be aware it's not a 50-hour game.

An Update on the Future
Hello players, The outreach and support I received after announcing free to play was both inspiring and moving. However, I have decided to meet each stance -- both positive and negative -- in the middle. The game will remain free on Itch.io, and Steam will provide players an opportunity to buy the "support" version, for which a future update will be coming. This content update will provide those who financially supported the game additional content as a thank you Free players are so, so are important to me as well, so while I deeply appreciate those who insisted I poise myself to have financial support, I am choosing to make that an entirely willing process. To those who have purchased the Steam version and enjoyed themselves: Rest assured, I have something special planned for you in-game with a coming update. As for the future, I intend to undertake a journey in which I learn to draw and animate myself, as commissioning artwork can only get me so far on a limited budget. I will continue to support freelance artists as I always have, but it's clear that I need to be the change that people are requesting to see as well. I will be posting updates on my humble beginnings of an art journey, so I invite you to point and laugh along with me as I go from busted doodles to, hopefully, art that improves my projects forever. More updates and projects to come, especially now that I have received so many kind messages. Thank you. A dream of making games is no dream at all without people to play them. Thank you and see you soon. --MothOnMarsRead full article on Community Announcements (MothOnMars)AnnouncementsOfficial
Switching to Free to Play
Hello players, First, I would like to immensely thank all of those who have shown this game support, both in my personal life and by purchasing the game. If you have purchased the game and are still within Steam's refund period, feel free to submit for one (I have no control over whether or not refunds are issued, unfortunately. It is up to Steam.) The game is currently free at https://mothonmars.itch.io/the-andere-realm-a-flicker-of-lust, but due to Steam's one week requirement to switch to free to play, this process will take until 12/10/24 (at the earliest -- I am filing the switch with Steam support). Lastly, I would like to apologize who felt cheated by my work. Over 1,000 hours went into this game, as I wanted to create something that would outlive me in a genre I felt very passionate about after a rather large medical scare. I felt very emotionally attached to the older engine, as well as the world that I had created, and I understand that I failed to bring the expected level of quality to the game. I will be taking a rather large step back from development, but any work to be released someday, you can find it at https://mothonmars.itch.io Thank you. --MothOnMarsRead full article on Community Announcements (MothOnMars)AnnouncementsOfficial

Moving Saves for ARAFL_S3
Hello players, Today, an update went out to the game to fix some issues found by user NotMieseter in the postgame. With how SteamWorks handles the update, the entire directory was changed from ARAFL_S2 to ARAFL_S3. However, for your existing saves, you can go to: > steamapps > common > The Andere Realm A Flicker of Lust > ARAFL_S2 and copy the Save## (example: Save01) files found there to the new ARAFL_S3 directory, and resume your game. Apologies for the inconvenience, as it stems from how updates to the depot are done for RPG Maker VX Ace, but you did not lose access to your saves, those files just need moved. This will be a one-time issue, as I will be working on a solution to this problem before any further updates get pushed, should they be needed. See you soon. --MothOnMarsRead full article on Community Announcements (MothOnMars)Patch NotesOfficial
