Update 1.6
Update 1.6 is now available! This version fixes several bugs reported by the community, as well as making minor adjustments to the map to make exploration and the gameplay experience even more customizable.I would also like to share that a much larger update is already in development. The goal is to significantly expand the scope of Tootum, bringing new areas, mechanics, challenges, and more content, increasing the duration and depth of gameplay. As many already know, Tootum is developed by only one person. This means that every system, art, programming, testing, and correction passes through my hands, which naturally makes large updates take longer to complete. Even so, my commitment is to deliver quality, well-educated content that truly makes the wait worthwhile.Thank you very much to everyone who plays, provides feedback, and continues to support the project. Your participation is essential for Tootum to continue evolving. See you in the next big update!Read full article on Community Announcements (DougVeiraDev)AnnouncementsOfficial
Tootum arrives on May 27, 2026.
The time has come to put a die on what was once just a dream, work, and persistence: Tootum launches on May 27, 2026.It's not just another pixel art Metroidvania. Tootum was born from the desire to make a game where exploration is truly worthwhile—where every hidden path, every item found, and every turn around the map changes how you see the world. This release is important because it was made with the kind of care that the Metroidvania community quickly confirms: a game that respects curiosity, rewards attention, and doesn't rush to deliver everything on a silver platter. Tootum is a solo project, made with dedication, and every detail was thought out for those who like to discover, make mistakes, go back, and master the path on their own.If Tootum has already caught your attention, adding it to your Steam wishlist helps a lot.Read full article on Community Announcements (DougVeiraDev)AnnouncementsOfficial
Totum is coming!
Hey everyone! This is Doug Veira! We're entering 2026 and I have lots of exciting news about our game, Tootum! Development is progressing incredibly well. Currently, I'm finalizing the level design, and the game's story is becoming richer and more engaging. I strongly believe that 2026 will be the year of release! As you know, I'm developing Tuntun alone, which brings many challenges: from mechanics and code to art and narrative. Each step is carefully considered, ensuring that the game is fun and that exploration is enjoyable and rewarding.I'm working hard on character progression, mechanics, items, and tools, always aiming to make everything as enjoyable as possible. The idea is that exploring the world of Tootum should be a rewarding experience!Happy New Year to everyone! If you're excited for Tootum, share it with your friends and help bring this Metroidvania, made with so much love, to more people. I'm excited about what's to come and I can't wait for you all to play!Read full article on Community Announcements (DougVeiraDev)AnnouncementsOfficial
More than a Metroidvania. A Personal Story
Hey, everyone! I'm wrapping up a new demo for Tootum that will soon be available for you to test! Before that, I wanted to clarify a few things — especially for those who played the first demo or are just now discovering the game.Tootum still holds its original essence: it's a metroidvania focused on exploration and precision platforming. Combat has been greatly improved, and the Enchantress — our magical, talking sword — continues to play a central role in the story. That hasn’t changed. Many new mechanics have been added to make exploration even more exciting and the platforming challenges more fun. My goal has always been to turn Tootum into a great metroidvania. That’s been my personal challenge.Someday, maybe I’ll share all the struggles I went through to make this game. Because the truth is — there's a story inside the game... and another one behind it, which is mine. That’s what makes Tootum special to me — and it’s what I hope you’ll feel when you play it.I don’t know if I’ll succeed in conveying all of this, but I’ve set out to try. To create a game that shows, in one way or another, the importance of never giving up.Read full article on Community Announcements (DougVeiraDev)AnnouncementsOfficial
Tootum – A solo journey crafting a metroidvania with heart
Hey everyone! As many of you already know, I’m a solo indie developer with a long-time dream: to create an amazing metroidvania. I've been studying and working hard for years to make it happen, and I’m pouring all my passion into Tootum – a project where I put all my heart, creativity, and effort. I’ve been funding everything out of my own pocket, and I’m fully committed to finishing the game later this year so everyone can enjoy this action-packed and discovery-filled adventure! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45188357/5c8af60599339de4fdd0e1a3ada029bd2a10b011.png Over the past few months, Tootum has gone through major improvements: I redesigned the main character, rewrote parts of the story, added new combat mechanics, power-ups, worked on the map, and polished many other aspects. With each test, I feel the game getting better and closer to the experience I always envisioned. Oh, and about the demo – I’ve taken it down because it became outdated and no longer represents the current gameplay. I want your first impression to reflect the real experience of what Tootum has become. I truly hope you’ll enjoy playing it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it. Thanks for being part of this journey! ❤️Read full article on Community Announcements (DougVeiraDev)
