Venture into a hybrid strategy roguelite deck builder where you'll face off against diverse foes on a grid-based journey, shaping the fate of your world with every decision.

About this game

Feature List

  • Explore 25 unique arenas across 8 different biomes. Choose your starting location and build your deck with their region-exclusive cards to create unique playthroughs each time.

  • Over 300 cards, items and weapons to gear up with and experiment with their range of powers and effects.

  • Face 120+ different enemies, 10 bosses, a range of grunts and some rather deceptively cute salamanders. Study their weaknesses, exploit synergies, and use your strategy to emerge victorious.

  • Every new run, choose an unwilling hero to attempt to save this corrupt world. Each “hero” has traits which may work in your favour… or against you.

  • Use essence to level up your hero and build stats to support your run. Do you value intelligence? Or is brute force the path you will take?

  • Over 100 interactions where you are forced to make a decision which will potentially cause game changing effects in this run and even future runs!

About the Game

Journey to the Void places you at the edge of a corrupted world,  commence your quest in one of eight biomes, battle relentless foes and uncover the source of the corruption.

In this hybrid roguelite strategy-deck builder, use your deck wisely, every choice and hand played could mean victory or defeat. Strategically stack attacks, unleash devastating abilities, and wield the power of the elements in your favour. Prepare to fend off attacks from all directions in a grid-based combat system, where your hero stands in the centre of the action.

Strategic Deckcraft

With over 100 unique cards, weapons, and items to discover, no two runs are ever the same. Build powerful deck synergies, fine-tune your strategy before each battle, and take on wave after wave of enemies. The right choices could mean survival… or else lead to a devastating defeat!

A Path of Choices

Encounter merchants, buy or sell rare trinkets, and prepare your hero for battle. As you journey deeper into the void, you will come face to face with encounters - each one presenting a crucial choice which could alter your fate for this run and future runs. Will you play it safe, or embrace the unknown? Every decision has consequences… and only the bold will thrive.

Heroes of the Void

At the start of every run, you’ll choose a brand-new hero, each hailing from different regions of the world. Each hero comes with distinct traits that can shape your fate, for better or worse. Gather XP points through combat and successful encounters to craft your ideal build by choosing how to level up your hero.

The Corrupted World

The world, divided into eight elemental regions, will permanently react to the multitude of choices you make. Choose your starting point wisely, with each region offering new heroes, powerful elemental cards and unique interactions to the region. Each time you play, experience completely unique runs within an overarching story, with over 100 enemies, 10 bosses, different starting decks and 25 arenas to discover.

    Changelog 1.0.3

Hello! With this update we close out this first upgrade cycle, tackling the most important topic of all: Map 2 Bosses.Let's start with the main topic of this update:The Heralds ReworkWe've completed the work we started in Update 1.0.2 and removed Heralds' complete invulnerability to Maluses. This means developing previously incompatible systems. For balance reasons, Heralds will remain immune to movement (most often caused by Wind cards), but will be vulnerable to most other status effects around which players can build their decks. This means that strategies based on sustained damage will also be effective against bosses.Be careful not to rely too heavily on these, as the legacy of their cosmic power has been preserved in the Heralds.Along with their most powerful attack, they will also be able to remove all Maluses on them.Other balancingHere are other minor changes we made to enhance the experience:Divided some Herald abilities into two separate abilities to make them more understandable.Increased the % of spawn of Narrative special events.Increased Wind Shrine rewards.Increased Small Goblin event reward.Balanced Shrine probabilityBug fixesWe've fixed a few more bugs to make the gameplay experience as smooth as possible:Fixed a bug with dead body record in the Final Boss node.Fixed a preview issue with some icons.Fixed minor bugs.

    Changelog 1.0.2

Utility Card ReworkAfter extensive internal playtesting and observing countless players discover and interact with Utility cards (those unlocked with the Prodigy background), we noticed that some felt OP, while others were nearly unplayable and were often removed from decks after just a few fights. We therefore decided to spend some time reworking them and creating a new, updated version of these cards that would excite players and inspire new strategies.Fire Utility: Flame WithinFor this utility, we completely redesigned the Malus it generated. Before this update, the "Burning" Malus caused a percentage loss of HP, but we realized that this choice severely penalized the player, who often found themselves with more Max HP than their enemies. The damage was therefore almost useless against enemies, but we couldn't change it for fear of making it even more unmanageable for the player.Since we plan to remove bosses' immunities to Maluses (as you’ll read about in the final paragraph of these patch notes), we decided to return to a fixed amount of fire damage received by an entity with the "Burning" Malus. This way, it is more effective against enemies and less effective against the player, allowing everyone to experiment with this mechanic.Ice Utility: Docile ShiverFor Ice Utility cards, we had to remove the ability to continuously freeze enemies. This effect, tied to a Standard card (and therefore infinitely reusable), was too strong in some contexts, especially now that Bosses will no longer be immune to Maluses. Now, Ice Utility cards allow you to reduce your opponent's damage output, reusing an effect already present on enemies in this region, but still dealing damage, allowing you to build a strategy around these cards.Nature Utility: Incremental VineAs for the Nature Utility cards, we already really liked them as they were before, so we decided to keep their unique effect of scaling up as the battle progresses, and simply increased the targets to 2 per card to be ...

    Changelog 1.0.1

Hi! First of all, thank you for your incredible support on the launch of Journey to the Void!Your constant engagement and feedback help us improve the game and fix aspects that slipped through our tests before release. I wanted to take a few words to cover what you’ll find in this update, and at the end, I’ll speak about what we are working on and what to expect from future patches. We wanted to focus on playability first, so we concentrated all our efforts on removing bugs and improving the player experience.CHANGES“Foulshapes” waves now don’t appear in Villager runsWe decided, for the moment, to remove the “Foulshape” waves when you start your run with a Villager deck, in order to avoid a hard obstacle that only the most skilled players could overcome.“Reload” is now explained. We heard your feedback and added the description of the Reload effect whenever it is mentioned in the game, so that you could decide which card to pick even if you’ve never seen that card before.Map 1 bosses are no longer Immune to Maluses. This is just a first step in the direction we want to go, but we felt it necessary to remove this Ability from Map 1 bosses, since their encounter is the first real challenge the player faces, and we didn’t want to remove agency from players. We want to do much more to balance these and the Map 2 boss fights, but you’ll have to wait for the next patch for that! The Flamefox is no longer immune to Burning. While we liked the Ability from a lore standpoint, the fact that both Fiery Wisps and Flamefoxes were immune to the Burning malus left the Fire Prodigy deck in a tough position. Our next patch will focus on balancing, and all Status cards will be discussed. For now, we wanted to give players another tool to face the Fire Region.Increased Shrine ProbabilityWe noticed that the Shrine events were appearing less than we hoped, so we increased the probability they spawn in your runs. Since there is an achievement tied to them, we didn’t want players to be forced ...
