Title Update 6
Hello all! I am happy to announce that the wait for Title Update 6 is over! This update mainly focuses on improving upon already added features, and improving visuals. Here is the full list of features: Let There Be Light! https://clan.fastly.steamstatic.com/images/45220856/fa329627630f71e4737d5c7e648119f8057ecf17.png As discussed before, Tiny Pixel Planets now has a light render. I am really happy with how this turned out, and I want to sometime make a video explaining how it works. It is really efficient and runs well even on older devices. A lot of shader magic involved on this one. Along with the light system is of course lights. Colored LED lights, torches, and lanterns will help light up your world. Display blocks have also gone through a massive change, and now look really good! https://clan.fastly.steamstatic.com/images/45220856/e19d469a6e929200beae53fffb5d107a77f00113.png Using the updated display blocks! What is known is that I am here to make up for my mistakes. Introducing Super Amazing Button Crafting V2: Ultra (SABCV2U for short). Easily shows what you can and can't craft, as well as the resources required. Also displays how much of those resources you have in your inventory. New Character Design! https://clan.fastly.steamstatic.com/images/45220856/f48e4acff7281445bcaddf8eb327cf9585e43562.png Say hello to the new you! Addressing the issues
Hello again! I find it very important to keep everyone up to date with development progress and behind the scenes of Tiny Pixel Planets. So today I will be discussing some of the feedback I got on the last post and how I plan to tackle these issues. Tiny Pixel Planets is Tiny Pixel Planets First of all I must get this out of the way because I have seen a lot of comments, and not just on the last post, comparing my game to Starbound or Terraria. Obviously that cannot be avoided given how look wise they are similar, but that is in no way my goal. I really don't care what Starbound or Terraria have done or how to make my game more like those games. I am a solo developer that is working on a free open source passion project, I could care less if people prefer games that are made by entire studios over my game. In fact I highly recommend if you are looking for something big and layered, go play those games, as they are both great games on their own. Now with that out of the way let me address my plans for fixing issues that have been brought up. Issues I am fixing I had a lot more features planned for Title Update 6, but it would appear that my game is in desperate need of a revamp, so I have scrapped any feature I haven't added yet in order to focus on these issues. Let me go over the revamped features I have added/plan to add. The tutorial {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45220856/dc315fc40dbf1b82c8ec4d6f84443d9c90eacfe2.png Like I mentioned in the last post, the current tutorial in TU5 sucks. It hardly goes over everything in the game, and you have to exit and create a new save after finishing it. So I have added tutorial popups that will be displayed throughout your play through. You can toggle these tutorials on/off in the save creation, and that decision will be auto applied to all new saves from then on. This is already in TU6 and can be played tested in the beta versions in the git repo. Sound revamp I am in the works on a new sound system that will allow for customizing not j...Read full article on Community Announcements (SP Possibilities)Patch NotesOfficial
News on Title Update 6!
Hello! Today I would like to talk a bit about the current status of Title Update 6, the next major update! Please keep in mind that anything shown/discussed may change upon release. New Crafting System {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45220856/ab42bf3fe764adf1ddef74083ea974d1b7b12e14.png The old crafting system that is present in Title Update 5 (The current version) has been in the game since Title Update 1. Needless to say, a crafting revamp is necessary. Now when crafting you can easily see what you can and cannot craft with the current resources you have. The recipes will also tell you how much of the resources you have in your inventory. Let There Be Light! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45220856/a3ae305e64b544cdb87a0011c7672c0f7363a387.png Gone are the days of seeing everything even if it is far underground. The new raycasting light system I added now completely changes how Tiny Pixel Planets looks. I want to go further in depth with how the system works once Title Update 6 is released, but the results speak for themselves. You may also see some of the new blocks I snuck into the image. Other News I also have added a new planet, but there are a few small things I need to work on before showcasing it, but make sure you prepare, because this will be the hardest planet I have added to the game. I plan to remove the tutorial world and replace it with tutorial popups that progress as you play your own save. These tutorial popups can be disabled when creating a new save. This will allow the tutorial to go more in depth with the game mechanics, while allowing you to keep all your progress. I am sorry for how long Title Update 6 has been taking. With how long it took to finalize the lighting system, and me being really busy recently, I haven't had much time to work on the game. I don't think Title Update 6 will be releasing this year, but hopefully it should come out sometime in January. In the meantime keep exploring space!Read full article on Community Announcements (sppossibilities1)
