vAlpha.42 — The Game Finally Introduces Itself

A fully voiced opening film, a coach who teaches you by letting you actually play your first three rounds, and narration across every lesson in the game — in English and Mandarin both. TL;DR New: a narrated opening cinematic. Nine movements on the history of Valdhomir, and the last act points at your map — it forges the blade whose terrain sits nearest your homeland. New: the Game Walkthrough. Seven acts across your real first three rounds. Not a sandbox — you keep the victory points, the coin and the loot. Every lesson is voiced now. 309 takes across two languages, covering the film, the walkthrough, combat and errands. You can't get stuck. Sit on any one step for 45 seconds and the card grows a way past it. "Birth city" is now your homeland — and the whole chooser was rebuilt around a single card and a hand of fourteen tabs. The Claim button was invisible. Gold on parchment measured 1.05:1 against its own background. It's green now. Teleports were charging you twice. A minor action, plus the arrival's major, on two separate counters. Teleporting made you vanish in multiplayer. Other players never heard about it. Nor about caravans, or joining a fight. Trading a magic sword you were wielding left you holding a weapon you no longer owned — with your own smithed blade dead underneath it. New foe: the Pinchkin, lurking in ponds. The Prologue Nine movements, 133 seconds, fully voiced. The Warlords — and Nocthollow, their seat. The New Craft — the four fighting classes, by their emblems. The Uprising — the surge, and the shattering. The Long Peace — what got built on top of it. The Sorcerer — a figure in the deeps, and a blade. The Corrosion — the cut, the stain, the consuming. Your Charge — your home, and the blade nearest it. The Five Proofs — the five aptitudes you'll be measured on. The Call. Movement VII is yours specifically. It finds the element whose terrain lies nearest the homeland you picked and forges that blade — so the film hands you off pointing at the gr...

vAlpha.41 — New Jobs Minigame + Library System!

A real job system with four tiers and two mini-games, a library in every city that marks your map, a corner of the screen that finally tells you what to do next, and a notebook you write yourself. TL;DR Jobs are completely new. Four tiers — Errand, Contract, Commission, Charter — on a shared board that refreshes every season. Claim one and it's gone for everyone else. Two new mini-games. The Bench asks which materials. The Line asks in what order. Contracts finally claim your primed level-ups. The loop priming has been waiting on since it shipped. New: a Library in every city. Free lore and hints even after your round ends, plus records that light a tile on your map worth walking to. The archive won't send you somewhere that kills you. It reads each tile's real hazards and enemies against your Survival and Combat first. New: Objectives HUD and Journal. The top-left corner now always shows the next step of what you're tracking — and there's a parchment notebook you write yourself that saves with your game. Trading rebuilt. A fairness figure on every offer, and five real bugs fixed — including one where item trades delivered nothing. The end screen became a proper post-match report. Four tabs, lead changes pinned, and the closest stretch of the game called out. Those aptitude tabs are buttons. You said they looked like labels. You were right. Plus a teleport that stranded you in caves, a multiplayer trader only one player could see, and "Embue" is finally spelled Imbue. The Job Board The old "jobs" are gone. What replaced them is one system with four tiers, where the tier decides the shape of the work and your skill decides the flavour. Errand (skill 0-12) — an hour's work inside the walls. Walk to the recruiter's door, then run a timed round trip through the city streets. You steer. Contract (4-12) — a signed job that takes you out of town. Collect a consignment, travel, do one activity, report back. Commission (8-12) — guild-grade work, wider world, and its own mini...

    vAlpha.40 - Brand New Combat System! +patches

Combat has been rebuilt from scratch. Five styles that play like five different games, a Practice Arena to learn them in, and opponents that learned to defend by watching real players. This may be the biggest single update we have had. TL;DR Combat is completely new. Five styles, five different things your hands actually do — drag a slash, draw a path, hold dead still, tap out a rhythm, or swing a magic sword with a wave of your own element crashing in behind it. New: Practice Arena. Real combat, no save, no server, no consequences. Any character, any opponent, any level, any time. New: Guided Walkthrough. A coached first fight with a demo attack frozen mid-flight so you can finally see what those rings mean. Opponents got smarter. Enemy defence now runs on trained models built from recorded human play, not a hand-written formula. Early fights are winnable. A low-level fighter used to need 17 rounds to kill something that killed them in 3. It's now 3 against 3. Half the CPU load. A frame cap that had never actually worked is fixed. The UI stopped breaking on your monitor. No more "it only looks right at 1080p, 100% scaling." Keyboard shortcuts for every right-hand panel, plus full keyboard controls in combat. Villages joined the road network, rest better, and there's a long list of multiplayer and general fixes. Combat, rebuilt The old mini-game — a box appears, you click it — is gone. What replaced it is five fights that genuinely feel different, because each one tests a different skill and asks something different of your hands. Physical — drag a slash. Pure spatial reaction, with the roomiest window in the game. The friendliest place to start. Wizard — draw a path, and it resolves where you release. Fewer, heavier hits. Draw decisively and your rune flies faster. Trooper — press, hold perfectly still, release. The fewest shots in the game and the heaviest. Twitch your mouse and you'll feel it. Elemental — single clicks, tapped out to a rhythm. Twice the attacks a...

vAlpha.39 - Movement Odds Preview, Quest Text Overhaul, Multiplayer Roster Drawe

Headline Features 🗺️ Movement Consequence Chance Reveal Pre-Commit Previews: Stepping onto a road, plains tile, or cave now previews exact hazard, robber, or trader odds directly on the adjacent tile via the fate stage before you commit. Animated Cascade & Stakes: Landing plays a smooth animated chance-reveal matching active actions. Failing hazards now prominently displays combat tags (Lv x–y) and concrete costs (HP −x / Energy −y). Route Forecast: Auto-travel confirm panels now display estimated path risks (e.g., ~1.4 robbers · ~0.8 traders), factoring in active items like smoke bombs. Custom Speed Settings: Added independent animation speed options for standard resources and frequent road rolls, plus an auto-travel rolls cycler to keep long walks quiet. 📜 Quest Language Cleanup Complete Rewrite: All 40 Reputation quests have had their player-facing text rewritten in both English and Mandarin to fix typos and eliminate stale formulas. Modern Affordances: Outdated terminology like "action grid" has been replaced with the actual current UI affordances and highlighted spots. Balanced Odds: Minimum find/spar chances for quests like Lost Pet and Young Warrior have been eased and secured. 👥 Multiplayer Roster Drawer Live Player Tracking: A tuck-away panel in the bottom-right corner displays every player in the lobby, using clear indicators to show who is still taking their turn and who has ended their round. Username Cap: Enforced a new 25-character username limit to maintain clean drawer dimensions across all screen sizes. Other Changes & Additions Napsack Crafting & Recipe Book: Crafting is back via a new material-picker screen with convert buttons for known recipes, accompanied by a discoverable "Recipe Book" modal. Smoke Bomb Item: A new minor action that grants 3 rounds of road-robber stealth (with standard exception handling for mounts and escort quests). Unlocked via the Young Warrior quest and market purchases. Quieter Green Toasts: Consolidated multi-line skill...

vAlpha.38 - See your odds before you commit!

I have implemented something this game has been missing for a while - clearly seeing your odds before you commit to an action. There is less "guess-work" or reading involved in knowing your chances. Headline Feature: Action Clarity Every probabilistic action - like persuading a trainer, excavating for resources, or haggling - now features a Chance Indicator. Know Your Odds: Before you click, look for the "Odds Pill" on action cards. It shows your exact success rate (e.g. "13 in 20" or "65%"), color-coded green or red so you know exactly how risky your move is. The Fate Track: When you commit to a roll, you'll see an animation of the chance roll "landing." You can customize how much of this you see in your settings (Full, Quick, Off). Hover to Preview: For buttons and menus (including cards), simply hover over them to see the cost, your odds, and a preview of the outcome before you make your move. Quality of Life & New Content Fatigue is now called "Energy" throughout the game. We already started this process before, but should be more consistent now. Selling UI overhaul: We have rebuilt the way you can sell items in your personal market- it should be more intuitive now. New Art for Quests: We have built new visual aids for starting quests. New Teleportation Tablet: A new item! Find an "empty tablet" while excavating the old library and imbue it at a wizard city (Tamariza, Anafola, or Pafiz) to bind it to that city. You get 3 charges for easy fast-travel. Bug Fixes Sound Volume: Sound volume slider was inconsistent in adjusting the volume appropriately. I believe I have fixed it, but let me know if its still buggy for some of you. UI Readibility: The corner toast messages should be a little easier to read now. More clean up to come. Map Zoom: Fixed hunter's guild map zoom bug.
