DEVLOG #1 | FIRST TRANSMISSION
Hey everyone,We're kicking off a series of devlogs that show the world of BRAINSHELL the way it would've actually reached people back in 1963: through leaked paperwork, internal memos, and reports that got redacted but never destroyed. Each entry brings you one document closer to understanding what the program really was, and what it did to the people caught up in it.Here's the first one.// RETURNING TO NOTHINGNORMAL FREQUENCY //While the archive gets declassified one page at a time, there's plenty happening behind the scenes, and we're glad to start sharing more of it with you.We moved into a new office, and as you can probably tell, we've already made ourselves quite at home!Settling in has gone great, and the whole team's in good spirits about what's ahead.Top of that list: a new playable demo! We’re working hard to update it with controller support and the localizations. We'll share the updated demo release date soon, wishlist BRAINSHELL so you don't miss the announcement. This horror game where you're a conscious nuclear missile boasts 'one handed mouse only controls', leaving me with assumptions that proved incorrect when I had to saw my own limbs off
"It's the year 1963 in a world that replaced computers with human brains," is how horror game Brainshell describes its setup. "The nuclear arms race has led to a point of no return. Your government uses propaganda, brainwashing and body modifications to create the ultimate weapon: a conscious nuclear missile." I checked BBC News, looked outside at the gloom, and decided that, sure, I could do with a nice break today. Brainshell's demo it is... We are super happy to say that BRAINSHELL Demo is now out in Steam! In the demo we explore the boost phase of the missile. It is a short, intense chapter where the character experiences horrors of the actual acceleration of the rocket and also faces the pains of his past. Huge thanks to everyone who has played or is planning to play the demo! Writing a review will help us to get visibiliy so we would be extra thankful for that (even if you write a negative one). If you want to give more direct feedback, see behind the scenes or just want to say hi, feel free to join our Discord :)- BRAINSHELL TeamRead full article on Community Announcements (Deoksiribonukleiinihapporyöväri)AnnouncementsOfficial
Communication transcript From Geeni, Chief Narrative Officer of the BRAINSHELL.
The program's development is proceeding on schedule. We believe we will reach the public testing phase early next year. Test phase area: BOOST PHASEAverage total length of the test phase: 13 minCurrent progress of the test phase: 85% Like the final program, the test phase is divided into two parts. The first part examines the flight of the missile, focusing on the acceleration phase. The second part examines the subject's fragmented psyche. The human body is not designed for ballistic flight so the subject has been heavily drugged by the State. All of this is presented to the subject as an episode in which they must saw off their limbs. The missile is to the subject the same as your body is to you. The sawing off of limbs itself represents the end of the acceleration phase, where the missile detaches its thrusters, but also the subject's detachment from his old, useless body. The hallucination episode is almost complete and serves as a benchmark for the final program. Attached is a short propaganda transmission intended for the public. Nothing else to add.
