Devlog #2: Controller Support & Controls Rebinding

Welcome Back!Hello everyone! I'm incredibly excited to announce that the next major update for Delve Down Under, Version 0.2.7, is now live! While the last update focused on content and gameplay systems, this one was a massive technical undertaking focused squarely on you, the player. I’ve completely overhauled the game's input-handling backend to introduce some of the most requested features, making the game more accessible, comfortable, and customizable than ever before. Let's get into it.Take Control: Full Gamepad Support is Here! You asked for it, and I’m stoked to deliver: Delve Down Under now has full, seamless gamepad support! This wasn't just about mapping movement and shooting. I've rebuilt every single UI interface from the ground up to be fully navigable with a controller. This includes:The Main Menu & Character SelectThe Shop, Campsite, and all in-game vendorsThe Pause Screen, Death Screen, and Victory ScreenThe full-screen Map, which can now be panned and explored with a joystickThe game will also automatically detect what device you're using and switch all on-screen button prompts to match. So whether you like keyboard & mouse at your desk, or prefer to kick back on the couch with a controller, you’ll have a smooth experience.Your Game, Your Rules: Complete Key RemappingTo go along with the new input system, I've added a robust key remapping feature to the settings menu. Every single gameplay action for both Keyboard/Mouse and Gamepad can now be rebound to whatever key or button you find most comfortable. The system is smart, too. When you remap a key, all relevant UI elements in the game—from the tutorial prompts to the ability icons on your HUD—will dynamically update to show your new, custom binding. Smaller Changes & Quality of Life FixesA huge thank you to all the play testers who provided feedback! Devlog #1: The Tutorial & Dynamic Gunplay Update (v0.2.6) is Live!

Welcome to the First Devlog! Hello everyone, and welcome to the very first devlog for Delve Down Under! It's been an incredible journey so far, and I'm thrilled to announce that our latest update, Version 0.2.6, is now live on the Steam demo page! This is a big one. It not only adds new content but also introduces foundational systems that will shape the future of the game, all based on great feedback and my goal to make the gunplay as satisfying as possible. Let's dive in! Learn the Ropes: The Tutorial is Here!First up, and probably the most important feature for new players, is the brand new tutorial! Your guide will walk you through the essential skills needed to survive the nightmarish apocalypse beneath Uluru: shooting, slashing, and of course, the all-important damage-immune charge. This is a dedicated, multi-stage experience designed to get you up to speed on the core mechanics before you take the plunge. Deeper Gunplay: The Dynamic Spread SystemThis is a feature I'm personally very excited about as it adds a new layer of skill to combat. The old static spread system is gone! Now, every gun has a dynamic spread value that changes based on your actions, much like in modern FPS games. Your accuracy will now be affected by: Movement: Running and gunning with a heavy LMG is now much less accurate than with an SMG. Stopping to take a shot makes a huge difference!Continuous Fire: The first shot from your weapon is the most accurate. As you hold down the trigger, the spread will increase, simulating recoil and making sustained fire harder to control. You'll need to manage your bursts to stay on target. To help with this, I've also updated the mouse cursor! The crosshair will now dynamically expand and shrink to give you real-time feedback on your weapon's current accuracy. New Playable Guns: STG44 & Gewehr 43Two new German firearms have been added to the arsenal! The priority on implementing playable guns in the game was previously very Australian and American centr...
