The Road(s) To Release
Let's talk about the development of Does The Moon Dream. I'll aim to be fully transparent here, giving you all the information I can on how much of development is done, how much is left, and how long I think it will take to complete. The biggest factor for determining this will be what direction I take development in.There's a couple different directions that I can take the development of Does The Moon Dream:Standard. Full-Game ReleaseEpisodic ReleaseEarly AccessI want to hear your opinion on which is the most appealing.Full-Game ReleaseRelease the game when it's all done. This is what I originally planned. However, this means no income from the game until its finished. As such, I wouldn't be able to spend as much time on it as I would like. It would mean slimming down both Act 3 and the ending. While it would be trimmed down content-wise I promise not to skim on quality. The game will release in a complete, functional state.Pros:Game releases with a complete story. Simple, no worrying about missing episodes or cliffhanger endings.Earliest release date. This route would mean the game getting finished sooner.Cons:Reduced content for later levels. Sooner release means less time to spend on the unfinished chapters. To be frank, it would mean wrapping up the story very quickly.Episodic ReleaseThe game will release as multiple episodes sold in separate groups. I would work on fixing up Episodes 1 & 2 and release them as a single store item before the end of 2025. Depending on their lengths, Episode 3 & 4 would either release separately, or bundled together as a single store item too.Pros:Greater freedom with later episodes. I can add something to episode 3 or 4 and not spend time updating the earlier episodes to accommodate it.Cons:Updates to core systems will not be retroactive. If a core system is upgraded for episode 3 or 4, it won't affect the earlier chapters.Early Access ReleaseEarly access release would include the first 2 chapters. The 2nd chapter would remain si...Read full article on Community Announcements (CDee)AnnouncementsOfficial

Updated Title: Does The Moon Dream
Hello all! I hope you are doing well. Development is proceeding on Does The Moon Dream. Or, um, Kill The Dream. To keep things brief, I am changing the title of Kill The Dream to Does The Moon Dream. This is because having 'Kill' in the title would cause content made of the game to be snubbed by the algorithm on many different platforms. This would not only hamper myself, but anyone who chose to create content of my game. So, for both my sake and theirs I have chosen to update the title of the game to something more algorithmically compatible. It's a bummer that this is something that must be done, but it is what it is. Rest assured, this change is in title only. Nothing about the game is changing except the title. The steam page will be updated over the next bit to reflect the new title. Also, I'll be making another update in a bit to announce this more formally, but Does The Moon Dream will be having a new demo release at the end of the month/start of the next month. This demo will be a more complete showing of Does The Moon Dream compared to the previous demo. If the last demo was a concept test, this is closer to a showcase of what the finished game will actually play like. I'll also be updated the store page with assets from the new demo closer to release. Anyway, I think that's everything. I hope you are doing well and thank you so much for all your support! You make this worth doing. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45179303/bb0f534be5c86c6ba1d22b59d49d6cb36218bde3.png For more regular updates, check out my blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/caleb-draper-games.bsky.social Thanks, Caleb DraperRead full article on Community Announcements (CDee)Patch NotesOfficial

Happy Holidays! + Release Update
Happy holidays! I hope you've all had a good 2024. It's crazy to think that You Can Save Everyone released at the beginning of the year, and now Kill The Dream is well into development. Since releasing the demo, I've been hard at work on getting Kill The Dream steadily closer to completion. While there is still a long way to go, I feel more confident in giving a release window now. Kill The Dream is aiming for a Summer 2025 release. That is as specific of a date as I will give for now. As development has been going well, I have some updates I can give. To start with, the combat system has been updated. Now, not only is there directional attacking but also directional blocking! You can block up, down, left, and right to deflect enemy attacks. Some enemies will only be vulnerable upon deflecting an attack. Lots of foundational work has been done too, improving things like AI pathfinding, system performance, and other various changes to the general stability and feel of the game. Finally, here's a peek at one of the upcoming environments. You've seen the outskirts of town, but how do things look deeper within? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45179303/af9697ad07aaf6ba6091fea5efc041cd11438149.png That's all for now. Wishing you all a good 2025!Read full article on Community Announcements (CDee)
