About this game

Code My Robot Vacuum is a playful coding game where you teach a robot vacuum how to clean! Write code-like commands, optimize routines, and overcome messy challenges filled with pets, socks, and obstacles.
Write code to guide your vacuum
Solve cleaning puzzles with multiple solutions
Sandbox mode for creative experiments
Optional challenge settings for extra difficulty
Replayability with achievements and optimization goals
Gameplay
Code My Robot Vacuum is inspired by classics like Human Resource Machine and The Farmer Was Replaced, but with a fun household twist. Each room is a puzzle, and you must write simple commands to help your robot clean efficiently. Avoid bumping into furniture, dodge pets, and find clever paths through chaos. You can brute-force your way through, or optimize your solution for the fewest steps.
Every level has extra goals for replayability — like collecting dust bunnies in the least moves possible, or avoiding bumping into a single wall.
Story
You’ve just unboxed your brand-new smart vacuum — but it’s not so smart. To unlock its full potential, you must program its every move. The more you teach it, the more capable it becomes. Will you build the perfect cleaning routine, or watch your robot get stuck on walls and furniture forever?
In this game, mistakes are ok 👍 (they’re just part of debugging!)

Campaign Results, Rebalanced Stages 5–10 & Bug Fixes
This update brings a new Campaign Results overlay, a substantial rebalancing pass for stages 5–10, and several improvements to tutorials, the code editor, and campaign progression. Major Additions New Campaign Results Overlay Campaign stages now end with a dedicated results screen, giving you a clearer summary when you finish a stage and a more polished transition before continuing your campaign. Rebalanced Campaign Stages 5–10 The later stages of the progressive campaign have been reworked with updated objectives, dirt requirements, treatment requirements, and wave pacing. The campaign progression has also been updated and tested across all 10 stages to make sure the runtime behavior matches the new stage data. Updated Progressive Stage Data Progressive stage resources have been refreshed across the campaign, including updates to stages 1–10 as part of the latest progression changes. Gameplay & Feel Improvements Camera Tutorials Now Support Swapped Mouse Buttons Camera tutorial prompts now automatically show the correct left and right mouse buttons based on the player's mouse-button configuration. This includes Windows setups with swapped mouse buttons, with the correct button labels and icons shown in the tutorial. Camera rotation tracking has also been made more reliable, so tutorial progress responds directly to camera movement instead of relying on constant polling. More Reliable Campaign Progression Campaign progression checks have been expanded to cover the full 10-stage campaign, including updated wave expectations and dirt totals. Later stages also receive additional checks for consistent soak-timer behavior, helping keep campaign progression predictable. Creator / Editor Improvements Safer Breakpoint Handling The code editor now handles invalid or outdated breakpoints more gracefully. Breakpoints pointing outside the current script are ignored, while stale stored breakpoints are cleaned up instead of causing problems when the editor synchronizes them. Update 0.1.3.9: Cleaner Coding API, Smoother UI, and New Credits Screen
Hello Coders, This update focuses on making Code My Robot Vacuum feel cleaner to play, read, and navigate. The biggest change is a coding API cleanup: the old dirt-checking function has been renamed to robot.detect_dirt(), with tutorials, examples, completions, guides, wiki entries, and objectives updated to match. There are also smoother UI hover animations across many menus, a working FOV slider, a new Credits screen, Workshop/editor tracking improvements for future balancing, and a batch of visual and stability polish. Major Additions A clearer dirt detection function The robot dirt-sensing API has been updated from robot.is_dirty() to robot.detect_dirt(). This should make scripts easier to read and better match what the function actually does: checking whether the robot can detect dirt. All related learning material has been updated. This change affects the examples and documentation around dirt detection, so new players should see the correct function name consistently while learning. New Credits screen A Credits screen has been added to the Start Menu. It includes an animated scene presentation, auto-scrolling credits text, a dedicated back button, and an editable credits file for future updates. Gameplay & Feel Improvements The FOV slider now works properly. Camera field-of-view changes should now apply correctly from the Settings menu. Tile hover tooltips behave better near the camera button. The tile tooltip now hides when the mouse is over the camera mode button, preventing jitter and unwanted tooltip overlap. Grid visibility and shader stability have been improved. Several level scenes received small grid positioning adjustments to reduce visual artifacts, with shader safety improvements to avoid edge-case rendering issues. Level selector transitions are cleaner. Fade overlays are now cleaned up more reliably, reducing the chance of lingering transition visuals. Update 0.1.2.9: Breakpoints, Step-by-Step Debugging, and Better Python Support
Hello Coders, This update makes coding and debugging your robot programs much clearer. You can now set breakpoints, step through code one statement at a time, get better support in external Python editors, and receive clearer feedback when upgrades become available. Major Additions Breakpoint Debugging The code editor now supports breakpoints. Set a breakpoint, run your program, and execution will pause when that line is reached so you can understand what your code is doing before continuing. Breakpoint gutter support in the editor Keyboard shortcut support for toggling breakpoints Run button changes to Continue while paused Breakpoints work through the shared interpreter flow {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45923113/b5f0fc288ed97b3fe3030acec659376c88f2bbbe.gif Step-by-Step Execution You can now step through your program one statement at a time. This makes loops, conditions, and robot decisions easier to follow while testing your automation logic. Update 0.1.3.3: Battery Failure and Rich Guide Pages
Hello Coders, This update makes failure states clearer, learning tools more useful, and stage transitions smoother. The biggest change is battery depletion: when your robot runs out of power, the game now clearly stops execution, shows a failure state, and gives you a clean restart path. The in-game Guide also received a major usability pass with rich formatting, highlighted Python examples, copy buttons, and direct links to function help and upgrades. Major Additions Battery depletion now properly fails the stage Running out of battery is now treated as a clear stage failure instead of an unclear stopped state. Active code execution now stops immediately when the robot runs out of battery. The HUD now shows a dedicated Battery Failure panel. A Restart Stage button is now available from the failure panel. The robot now plays a short depleted reaction with face feedback, sound, and motion. Battery and wave timer text now better reflect the depleted state. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45923113/7170106d664abfbc6bcbefd1fad2d539ab0b8dbe.gif A richer, more useful in-game Guide The Guide has been upgraded from plain text into a more readable learning tool. Guide sections now support rich text formatting. Python examples now use code highlighting. Examples now include copy-to-clipboard buttons. Guide links can now open related function documentation. Guide links can also point directly to upgrade tree nodes. Level 5 guide content now better explains the recommended use of robot.is_cleanable(). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45923113/ab083cd1730971c5f25f594d3e81c8e050c153c8.gif Gameplay & Feel Improvements Smoother docking station transitions Stage transitions now handle the docking station more gracefully. The active docking station can move, fade out, and return near the end of the floor transition, making stage changes feel cleaner and less abrupt. More reliable dirt placement rules Dirt spawning now uses more consistent placement checks around occupied tiles and docking station positions.
