Battlewrights challenges you to unleash chaos and control unique characters in intense versus matches. Perfect for reviving the spirit of couch multiplayer, get ready to face off against friends in this action-packed indie gem.

About this game

Battlewrights is the couch-multiplayer party brawler you've been missing:

Grab 1-3 friends (in the room, or anywhere via Steam Remote Play Together - only one copy needed), pick a character, and start throwing weapons at each other...

The core mechanics are deceptively simple: Press button to throw your weapon, press it again to magically recall it. Landing a hit works both ways — on the throw, and on the recall.. Repeat until you are the last person standing. All characters have the same moveset, so no long explanations before someone new jumps in.

But if you want to take things further, try throwjumps, charged throws, perfect throws, self-evades and game-changing powerups.

Chaotic multiplayer action

Rounds are FAST. Be aware of your surroundings and use them to your advantage.

A unique movement system

If you throw your weapon mid-air, it lets you do a throwjump. Combine this move with walljumps and no platform is too high to reach!

Learn advanced moves

You can also dodge your ene... friends projectiles by pressing the dodge button shortly before being hit. This opens up perfect opportunities to strike back!

Never let them forget

Save your best moves as GIFs and use them to taunt your friends - FOREVER!

Charming pixel art characters

Pick from 4 different characters, each with 4 different color schemes!

Challenge the leaderboards

If you really want to hone your movement skills, try the included time trial mode. Try to beat bronze, silver and gold times, or even dare challenging the coveted developer medal!

    Patchnotes v1.2.0.0

Hey there! It's been a while, but I promise it's good one! Without further ado, let me jump straight in and show you...Replay & GIF export! In versus & time trial, replays are available now! In versus it will show the last kill, in time trial the full run (as long as you beat the bronze time) You will also have the ability to export the replay as a GIF file to really rub that perfect kill in your friends nose or show off your time in time trial!By default, the replay gifs are not super big (480x270) to save on space and time, but if you want, there is an option in the game menu to enable big GIFs(TM). With a 2-4 x encoding time tradeoff.Would love to see some cool GIFs on socials - don't forget to tag them with #Battlewrights or even @me (look for my socials on the steam page) for a repost!Other changesVersus: Some new things can be evaded (Sudden Death blowdarts & seagulls, knifes ...)Time Trial: Added camera shakeTime Trial: New sounds for medal unlocksA new splash screenFixesTime Trial: Fixes an error in that would lock the game when the pause menu was open while respawningAll: Some timer related bugs have been fixedLevel Selection: Painter now moves correctly when selecting levelsScaling should now work correctly after changing a display

    macOS version + patchnotes 1.1.0.1

Hello fellow wrights! With this update, Battlewrights is available on macOS in addition to Windows and Linux! That means the holy trifecta is finally complete! And if there's anything the beefy apple silicone line hardware was made for, it is throwing axes (and wrenches, and pans, and paintbrushes...) at your friends!Anyways, here are the patchnotes:FeaturesThere is now a small developer overlay. If you press "^" in game, you will toggle a bar on the bottom of the screen that lets you do some interesting things like triggering or disabling sudden death, handing out popwerups (even the ones not spawned in a certain level) etc. I've been using it to test while developing and thought you might like it too! FixesLevel select and restart were switched in the pause time trial pause menuIt was possible to jump straight up with a walljump in some casesThat's it! The next patch will REALLY include the next batch of time trial levels, I swear!Have fun fighting!

    Linux version + Patchnotes 1.1.0.0

Hello fellow wrights! From now on, there is finally a native Linux version of Battlewrights! It should start way faster than the windows version on SteamDeck!Creating this build for a 16:10 (SteamDeck) display led me down a rabbit hole of viewport scaling... This led to some more options for how you want to display those crispy pixels.Anyways, here are the patchnotes:FeaturesYou can now pick from different scaling modes in the option menu!If you don't use the whole screen, you can now add a lovely border! Some UI, especially in the options menu, has been redoneWalljumps have been reworked and are now way more forgiving - you can press away from the wall and still do a walljump for a couple of frames!Slightly changed zooming animation on level selectFixesVarious small fixes and UI touchups here and thereThe next patch will include a fresh batch of Time trial levels!See you!
