In Sudden Soul, explore the chaos of Oasys after a blackout, where each move in your turn-based RPG sets up your next. Collect cards and combo elements to empower your character with unique abilities.

About this game

No prophecies. No legends foretold. No destined hero.

A sudden blackout within the city of Oasys causes havoc as people and creatures wake up with new powers. Each party member controls an element which can combo off another. Light up an enemy who just got oil bombed, electrocute a ruffian after they got drenched in water - and many more possibilities.

Features:

  • Turn-based RPG with CCG (Collectible Card Game) elements. Open booster packs, upgrade your existing cards and try various card modifiers.

  • Each party member specializes in a different elemental power that can combo off another.  Experiment to see what fits your playstyle or adjust to a challenging encounter. Tangle up your enemies with some plants after exposing them to water and sunshine or torment your already burning enemies by fanning the flames and throwing oil - the choice is yours.

  • 3D platforming overworld. Explore Oasys to find interesting secrets or find yourself in awful predicaments due to your curiosity.

  • Mini games. Go do some illegal fishing within the city and sell your catches in the Fishy Black Market, race down a giant tube sock, get distracted with arcade games while there's impending doom happening in the main objective.

  • Sock-stealing slugs that vehemently believe they're snails.

    Sock Cave - Common Enemies

Meet the common enemies of The Sock Cave - the first dungeon of Sudden Soul:Slugbug These guys are the pinnacle of sock and slug kind. They are footwear thieves and pack a mean bite. Recent events have made them have an affinity toward soft fabrics, people with socks beware! -------------------- Timid Slugbug Not all Slugbugs are brave enough to get close enough for a bite. These variants prefer puking out socks as projectiles from a distance as they were attuned with the Wind element. These guys prefer their socks cleaned on the delicate wash cycle. --------------------Shoomba Is the Shoomba the monkey or the fungus? Before the recent events, the two were separated... the monkeys were huge fans of eating the mushrooms, but it seems as though they've become the fungus itself! Watch for their spore explosions. --------------------Ice Shoomba This Shoomba variant has been attuned with the Water element. Their spore explosions cause a frigid effect. Careful to not get frozen. --------------------Trashcaster  Once in the past, these beasts were definitely spec'd into the Rogue class. However, after the city's blackout, it seems they were attuned to the Poison element and have class changed into Wizards. In a city where no one cleans up after themselves, they thrive. -------------------- There might be other weird, rarer enemies popping up in Sock Cave. Keep an eye out!...Also as a bonus, here's some cursed lore about what some of these fellas looked like before the events of Sudden Soul.

Let any fish who meets my gaze learn the true meaning of fear

The game's development is actually going swimmingly. We're hoping to get something out in the next few months publicly for you to enjoy. We even have time for some fun mini games like obligatory RPG fishing and slug F-Zero racing. The fishing mini game is based off a few other games' ideas, but with our own twist. Some of those inspirations are Breath of Fire 3, Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing. Maybe we'll implement an illegal fish trading market in the full release for fun. We'll make sure to make it as extra as possible of a fishing mini game as we can.Keep an eye out these next few months for a public demo and thank you for your patience!-Niko

Move modifiers and 100 wishlist update!

Long time no see! We got 100+ wishlists on Steam and wanted to thank everyone for the support! https://i.imgur.com/BUiVJLQ.png (art thanks by @sorixasorinai on X and bsky) We have a lot to share along with this, between things like move modifiers in battle - sometimes, when you receive a card, it might come with a move modifier that will change how the move works entirely along with its effects, damage and turn order. For instance, here we have a Winding move waiting for the next turn. https://i.imgur.com/YuorT4i.png In this case, Lavinia gives up her current turn to do more than double the damage her next turn. The regular move is just a basic attack that deals light damage, but now that it's got the Winding modifier, it's a heavy hitter. Modifiers can be added to already existing cards at this angry blacksmith. https://i.imgur.com/sEftjMh.png Also, we're aiming to get a public demo by the end of the year and if not then, by the end of January. Thanks for sticking around and let us know if you have any questions! Please remember that everything here is in development and subject to change. -Niko
