About the Game
Its 1997. Two students are dead.
You have one week inside an American high school to figure out why.
SideEye High is a grounded, consequence-driven point-and-click detective mystery built around observation, interpretation, and omission. You won’t be led from puzzle to puzzle. You decide what’s worth investigating, what’s worth following up on, and what gets left behind.
Nearly everything you see can be inspected or questioned. Floors, lockers, desks, notes, trash, and details most games ignore can all become evidence. You cannot inspect everything — and what you miss changes what you believe happened.
What you notice matters. What you miss does too.
Features
Everything Is Inspectable
Environments are fully searchable, down to scuff marks, screws, and overlooked details.Evidence Notebook

The investigation always moves forward. Your conclusions, correct or not, shape how the case unfolds. One Main Mystery, Dozens of Detours
Follow the core case or get sidetracked by over 50 false endings, each with its own twisted mini-mystery.Mature 90s Dark Humor
Sharp, absurd, and occasionally uncomfortable satire rooted in late-90s Americana.
Every student knows something. No one knows the whole truth.

Murph Has Hands. The Big Demo Update Is Live.
It's live.I've been teasing this one for a while. It's out now, and it's the biggest change the demo has had since it launched.Murph has hands. Before, Murph could see the world but couldn't really reach into it. Now he can. A new first-person UI puts you inside the investigation instead of in front of it.That matters because of how this game works. What you miss is what you believe. Hands mean you're the one deciding what to pick up, what to scrutinize, and what to walk past. Every overlooked detail is a story you tell yourself. What's in the update:Tools you actually use. Flashlight, lighter, and magnifying glass, all wielded directly.New first-person UI system. The menu lives in Murph's trenchcoat. No more breaking out of the world to check your things.Fingerprint matching, reworked. It used to reward guessing. Now it's a memory game, you have to pay attention to the prints in front of you.New options menu with audio adjustments.Murph's intro dialog redone. Tighter, funnier, and it does a better job of telling you what kind of investigation you're walking into.A pile of bug fixes from player reports. And plenty more small stuff throughout.Thank you.The fingerprint rework, the timer removal, half the fixes in this list, those came from your notes in the discussion threads. As a one-person studio, that feedback is the difference between shipping what I think works and shipping what actually works. Keep it coming. If something's broken, tell me.If you want to see where this goes:Wishlist SideEye High — it's the single biggest thing that helps a one-person studio reach launch.Follow the game so the next update lands in your feed. Thanks so much for playing,— Phil, Fundamental StudiosRead full article on Community Announcements (phillip.arnone)Patch NotesOfficial
SideEye High — Major Update: New Investigation Systems Added
The investigation is expanding. The latest update introduces a new layer to how you interact with evidence. You’re no longer just finding clues. You’re working with them.New Investigation SystemsShoeprint comparison — match partial impressions against sample printsHandwriting analysis — compare found writing against known samplesFingerprint dusting — uncover hidden prints on individual objectsEach system focuses on observation and interpretation, not selecting the ‘correct’ answer. What’s DifferentInformation isn’t simply revealed. It has to be interpreted. Two players can look at the same evidence and walk away with different conclusions. The game won’t tell you which one is right.Where This LeadsYour investigation is shaped by what you notice, and what you don’t.Not everything will be clear. Not everything will connect. Not everything will matter. That’s up to you.More systems are coming.Read full article on Community Announcements (phillip.arnone)AnnouncementsOfficial
Timer Removed — Explore Freely
This was the most consistent piece of feedback from demo players. The new pacing better matches classic point-and-click investigation: take your time, notice details, then decide when to move on.Scenes are now free exploration: inspect, search, and experiment without a timer. The investigation advances on specific scene changes / major beats (when you choose to move forward). The goal is to keep the case feeling consequence-driven, without punishing curiosity. If you played before, I’d love to hear whether the new pacing feels better.Read full article on Community Announcements (phillip.arnone)Patch NotesOfficial
Timer System Removed in Upcoming Update
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to play the demo and share thoughtful feedback. After reviewing player responses and watching how people engage with the investigation, I’ve decided to remove the timer system from SideEye High. The goal of the game has always been careful observation and interpretation, and it’s clear that the timer was getting in the way of how many players wanted to experience the investigation. This change will be reflected in an upcoming demo update. Along with removing the timer, the updated demo will also include some new content and improvements based on what players have been responding to so far.All feedback is being carefully considered and is helping shape the direction of the game. SideEye High is still very much a work in progress, and this demo exists specifically so players can help guide what works and what doesn’t.Please check back soon for the updated demo. Thank you again to everyone who has played, commented, and shared their thoughts.Read full article on Community Announcements (phillip.arnone)AnnouncementsOfficial
The Demo Is Live — More Improvements Coming
Hey everyone,The SideEye High demo is live. This is the opening slice of the investigation — and you will not see everything.Every hallway, drawer, and object can be inspected, but time is limited and nothing tells you what matters. Some details won’t make sense yet. Others are easy to miss entirely. That’s by design. This round of development is focused on tightening the experience: clarity where it matters, friction where it should exist, and polish that supports careful observation rather than hand-holding.If you’ve played already, thank you. Your feedback is directly shaping what gets refined next. If you haven’t, now is the best time to step in and see how the investigation feels.More to share soon.Phil Fundamental StudiosRead full article on Community Announcements (phillip.arnone)
