In Gravepact, players must destroy incoming enemies and collect experience to enhance their characters. Developed by Justinian, this action RPG challenges you to become a powerful conduit of destruction across perilous levels.

About this game

Gravepact is a survival roguelite where the goal is to destroy as many incoming enemies as possible, while collecting experience to spend on attacks, passive items and skills to build your character into a powerful conduit of destruction that lays waste to everything in your way.

Eight strangers find themselves pulled towards a long forgotten graveyard, under the power of an invisible force they are incapable of resisting. Why were they gathered here? Who commands the coven of witches determined to keep them there? What dark secrets are your companions hiding from you, or even from themselves?

Features

Eight characters with branching class upgrades that provide additional skills and improve your primary attack in their own way.
Start from a Gravekeeper shoveling zombies over the head and end with a Wraith Queen that commands angry ghosts to shred her enemies to pieces.
Or begin as a humble Occultist threshing enemies with zig-zagging Eldritch Bolts as he works his way up to becoming an Archmage of unimaginable power.
From magic and archery to summoning and just good old fashioned hacking and slashing, there is a playstyle for everyone.

Bank upgrades
Levelups in Gravepact do not constantly interrupt your gameplay the way they do in most Survivor type games Open up your character screen at any time to spend your level-ups on new weapons, items and upgrades, as well as improve your skills. A + sign on your portrait will let you know if there is something new to be gained.

Forge new weapons, spells and powers
Hate having to get a specific item to upgrade a specific attack into another specific attack? Gravepact does away with narrow limitations. You don't need any specific passive item to upgrade any specific attack. Attacks are upgraded using gems you find during the game and any base attack type can be turned into an ultimate attack type. IE: A base weapon like the Javelin can be turned into any Ultimate weapon like the Knife of Hearts or the Muramasa.

Dig up the past to increase your power
All of the characters have something to contribute beyond their skill in carnage. As you discover more about them and the place you are stuck in together your collective power will grow. Better stats, new and improved starting bonuses, in-run character updates and events, and more.

    Demo Update Dec 9 2024

Sorry for the delay, it took longer than anticipated to include controller support. This is also the last content patch for the demo. Other than bug fixes and minor changes my work going forward will be focused on the upcoming early access version. You can read more detailed early access plans on the Steam discussion board. Additions Controller support has been added. Let me know in the discussion page if you find a menu item or something that doesn't work. Along with controller support you can now also use WASD/Space bar to move/select various options. If you don't care and just want to use a mouse you can also turn the blue controller highlight off via the in-game options menu. Two new common items have been added: Bloody Clover Increases your luck. In the demo that basically means more drops (gems, health potions, class unique drops like Gravekeeper's coins). Twin Sickle Provides a Multistrike chance. Multistrike grants a chance for melee weapons to launch another attack in a random direction. Also added some missing sound effects, and 2 extra rerolls. Changes *Enchant frames in Forge now have a purple border to make them more easily distinguishable from attacks *Dyrnwyn animation updated *Damage number display is now rounded to reduce clutter. *Potions now only get picked up if you are missing health and start disappearing after 30 seconds. *Dead Pool cast sound changed *some pickup sounds changed *reduced the chance of getting basic stat upgrades during level-ups. previously all 5 stats were added to the pool, now only 3 of them (at random) are added. This should make it less likely for them to show up during level-ups until you've exhausted regular passive/attack upgrades. *Questionable Heritage trait has been reworked, and missing description has been added. You now lose 1 Attack/Def/Agility per level until level 20, when you get +40 to all 3, resulting in a net +20 to all three if you are patient. Bug Fixes *Knife of Hearts no longer has infinite range *Issu...

    Demo update Nov 16 2024

Additions Forge The last major content addition to the game is now fully functional. You can open the forge by pressing 'E'. The forge, along with gems you pick up during regular gameplay, can be used to either forge Ultimate Attacks that cannot be found during level-ups or Enchantments for your passive items with additonal stat bonuses. Forged Attacks Attacks created by the forge cost 5 of three different gems (there are 6 gems in total) and require a fully leveled regular weapon. The basic attack selected will be replaced by the forged Ultimate Attack. You cannot forge more than one of the same ultimate attack but you can replace all your normal attacks with ultimates if you have enough gems. The demo has 7 Ultimate Attacks that can be forged. The final game will have at least 30. Forged Enchantments You can add additional stat boosts to your passive items via Enchantments. A passive item must be fully leveled to be enchanted. There are currently 5 stats that can be Enchanted on passive items (Health, Aura, Attack, Defense and Agility). Changes *Rotten Meat now also increases the chance of an enemy to spawn as an Elite by 10%. *Elites spawn 5 random gems on death *Normal enemies also have a chance to spawn a gem on death Bug Fixes *fixed issue with Elite enemies crashing the game on spawn *fixed issues with Ill Wind tornadoes not getting bonuses from higher levels

    Demo update Oct 27 2024

This patch adds a bunch of smaller features and a few bug fixes (no Forge yet). Additions *Enemy HP toggle option added *Damage text on hit toggle option added *Screen flash when hit toggle option added *Added player Health bar to upper left interface, as well as numerical values for your current/max health and experience. *Passive item tooltips now display the item stat provided Traits You might have noticed there is(was) a lot of empty space at character selection. That space is mostly meant to be filled by traits. The demo has four traits added. Traits are passive abilities that change the game in some way but don't provide you with bonuses outright, or if they do, they come at a penalty. Thee of the traits increase adjust some stats. The fourth introduces curses. Curses The final game will have more than one but the demo has one curse: Curse of Dis. Picking this trait will cause you to be haunted by the very annoying specter of Dis, a long dead lich. It moves slowly but cannot be attacked and his power grows the more cursed items you take on and level. New Passive Items Common Items: Pocket Bible +1 resurrection. You gain attack/defense every time you resurrect. Rotten Meat Enemies have 20% more attack, defense and health per item level and spawn slightly faster. This mostly just makes the game harder. Wicker Doll Increases Retaliation damage and gives you a small chance to KO enemies on a retaliation attack Sextant Increases Multishot chance. Multishot is a chance to double the number of projectiles fired by projectile attacks New Item rarities: Cursed and Rare. They will show up less often than regular items at level-ups. Rares are usually better than regular items. Cursed Items: Left Hand, Right Hand, Black Heart and Evil Eye of Dis. These items won't show up unless you pick the "Curse of Dis trait" Rare Item: Sin Eater - Reduce curse potency. Every level of a cursed item you get makes curses stronger and this item can make that more manageable. Not useful an...

    Demo update Oct 24 2024

This update is mostly focused around increasing the gameplay variety during a run. Additions Status Effects VIsuals On hit DOT effects like Burn and Plague now have a visual effect when first applied SFX reduction option Check this to reduce the chance of sound effect to play on an attack if you find them too annoying. I don't really like how this function works but if there are attack sounds that you find too annoying they won't play as often. Enemy summon events Occasionally enemy summonings (telegraphed by red pentagram summoning circles) will spawn in Elite enemies On occasion some enemies will spawn as elite versions of themselves. Elite enemies are bigger than normal enemies and all of their stats are better: they have much higher health, more attack, more defense, more damage, smaller cooldown for attacks and abilities, and are tagged as bosses (which means KO abilities will just reduce their health by a small % instead of killing them instantly). They drop more XP than a normal enemy, and when the forge update drops they will have guaranteed gem drops as well Map Events Random map events added. They can be found by wandering around. Right now it's just stat boost structures. Stand near them to charge them and get a small stat boost for the rest of that run. Changes *Changed levelup visual effect *Shield will now decay much quicker if your shield value is larger than your aura range *Wizard's Sight Beyond Sight skill now provides +1atk/levelup for every point you have in the skill. *Skills you have no points in will appear dimmed on the levelup screen, to make it easier to identify which skills you've put points in without having to hover the mouse over them. Bug Fixes *Fixed Salt Alchemy description to accurately reflect how much shield you actually get. *Fixed issue with Forgemaster skill not boosting defense. *Changed weapon code for Gravekeeper & her associated classes, and reduced the number of particles that spawn when enemies appear. Hopefully this wil...

    Demo Update Oct 19 2024

Additions Tier 1 class upgrades have been added. Class upgrades give you access to 3 additional skills and modify the character's primary weapon with additional effects. They are available after spending 5 skill points Gravekeeper can be upgraded to either a Cryptkeeper or a Labourer Bandit can be upgraded to a Houndmaster or Sharpshooter Occultist can be upgraded to a Necromancer or Wizard. *Added visual effect on character when leveling up. Changes *Improved Graveyard boss visibility. *slightly reduced Death Rain range and considerably reduced level 5 explosion damage. *Increased the power of some of the enemies. Will probably make regular adjustments to it as the launch version is too much of a cakewalk (except for the boss) *Reduced number of gravestones that spawn in the graveyard. *removed/reduced frequency of some sound effects, including enemy death sounds and Phoenix Burst. Bug Fixes *Defense now works properly. Good news if you're the Gravekeeper, bad news for the other two classes. *Shadow Domain now properly inflicts Curse at level 5. The class upgrades took longer than I thought so unfortunately the Forge update won't happen this week. ETA is next Friday, but it might come sooner if it turns out to be less complicated than I thought. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45185444/0628509d93ce43dd8ee5b2aeba3491e0e5d31789.png
