    Patch notes 21/07/2026

Hello aganyan! (too forced?) We took some time off and we could see some bugs appearing for some of you! As we are getting back in the saddle we decided to fix some of those for you! (so nice of us) Fixed a bug that showed incorrect values on the sound sliders in the options menu.Improved Spanish translation.Fixed a bug in the bathroom cameras where one of them could never be used again when moved between two of them.Improved the end of the Meowsés and Adrinyan cinematic.Made so there is not a fast moving camera after dying in the nightmare sequence. When having a match lit and entering a cinematic it could appear as being lit and, after the cinematic, it could get bugged. Fixed it.Sometimes the music wouldn't stop after leaving the lounge. Should be fixed now.Music wouldn't stop when dying in the nightmare sequence. If you catch another bug, don't release it into it's natural habitat yet! Tell us about it first in our Discord or Steam Discussions! Have a good one!

    Demo content and language update!

Hello everynyan! We've been working during the last few months on improving the demo and adding some new content. It has been more time consuming than we thought, but this is a very good development heading up towards the first part of the game (v1 of Early Access). I don't think I remember every change I've made during this time but I'm going to try: New languages aviable: We've been working with volunteer translators to bring our game to Japanese (msBean), Brazilian Portuguese (FelipeSal) and Russian (Angelika Ushakova from Bestandgoodgames)New content: Added new cinematicsNew short gameplay section.New dialogues.New songs and sound effects. Additions, improvements etc: We've swapped from Vulkan to Direct3D. For those who couldn't play the game before because it crashed immediatly, try again. We have rephrased dialogues and words in general so it fits with the games narrative better. We've improved some cinematics. We've changed the games ilumination and lightning. We've implemented FMOD and now the sound should be better. We have added effects like reverb and other cool things. We have fixed many many many many bugs...Most of these bugs have been noticed thanks to our community in Discord and Steam. Without you, Darkbound wouldn't have grown and improved so much. Thank you!!!

    Patch notes 10/24/2025

It's been a while since our last patch, but there were very good reasons why it took so long. The game has had a general facelift, we've fixed a few bugs (some that made the game unplayable for some users), we've added quality-of-life improvements, and some of the art has been changed. We've also been testing a lot, and we really hope (crossing our fingers) that you don't find any major bugs.First of all: we've realized that if your graphics card doesn't support Vulkan (usually graphics cards over 10 years old), you won't be able to play the game (you launch the game on Steam and it immediately crashes). We're currently unable to support this group of players, as it's almost like a different version of the game, and we only have one developer. What's new:- Game performance has been improved, especially for those with larger monitors and resolutions. The game now scales from a 640x360 resolution instead of rendering at those resolutions.- Character portraits, the matches guide, dialog boxes, and interfaces have been reworked to fit the new resolution.- The yellow border that helps players see which objects are interactable is now clearer and more consistent.- Posters are slightly easier to read without interacting with them.- The start menu has been reworked to accommodate a new button that links to the Discord server. (Join us, there's a lot of cute and beautiful fan art.)- In the "running tutorial" the run button effect is now more appropriate :)Quality of Life Changes:- Navigating the options menu is now easier, especially if you have a controller, using the shoulder buttons (RB and LB on an Xbox controller).- The volume level (from 0 to 100) that you currently have selected is now visible.- You can now exit a document at any time by pressing the cancel button.- Quitting a poster inspection no longer requires holding the quit button; a single tap is enough.- If you switched tabs and returned to the game, dialogue would skip. That's not the case anymore. If someone ...
