Delve into the eerie world of Wait: The Patient as you explore a mental hospital in the 90s with Dr. Alice Fincher. Unravel the strange events surrounding her new patient and uncover hidden truths in this non-combat horror adventure.

About this game

Wait: The Patient is a mystery horror game with strong influences (pertaining wholly to the atmosphere) from H.P. Lovecraft, the Silent Hill series and other games from the era of 3rd person survival horror games. It is a non-combat experience that consists of exploring, making decisions and solving riddles.

Story:

Based in in the mid '90s, the game follows Dr. Fincher, a psychologist who has recently begun working at a mental hospital until her typical work day gets disrupted by the arrival of a new, strange patient - a young man surrounded by an eery air. An ominous chemistry builds between the two, and at the same time, an onset of strange phenomena begins within the hospital. Dr. Fincher decides to investigate.

Time System:

Wait: The Patient is separated into time phases. Switching to the next phase will have time moving forward and in turn change things in the game world. Depending on your actions or decisions in one phase, circumstances may have changed in a following phase.

It is up to you when to switch phases, so there is no time limit and no need to rush.

The Bigger Picture:

This game itself is a sidestory of Wait - Extended, and while it is not directly related to the events of Wait - Extended, there may be characters and mentions of events that relate to the base game.

Each game can be enjoyed on its own, but for the complete picture it is recommended to play both, in any order as per the various potential endings of the first game.

Key Features:

  • Purely atmospheric horror with NO jump scares

  • Explore the hospital in all time phases and find all its secrets

  • Profound side quests that may change the outcome

  • Human Voiced cutscenes

    Wait: The Patient 1.1 Update

Update 1.1 Hello, apologies for this terribly late first update. Thanks so much to everyone who reported bugs to us and gave us feedback! Changelog v1.1: Changed the map to be available without looking at the map on the wall first. Optimized cache handling. Fixed table passability in room 19 Fixed a faulty trigger in transition hallway that would not show the creature correctly. Fixed that the conversation for the groundfloor key can be held multiple times. Fixed a few typos. Fixed a softlock in the lecture hall that would stop you from entering the door on the right, if you hadn't interacted with it before solving the problem with the lady. Fixed a bug that would get you stuck in the red book in the lecture hall, if you read it again. Fixed a bug where you could burn the hair in the lecture hall, even after saving the lady. Fixed the far right tub in the water therapy room to be interacted with correctly. Fixed an issue, where Michael was still standing in the storage, if you re-entered the room after he left. Fixed an issue, where the last dialogue with Gilman would be repeated, when re-entering the room. Fixed a wall collision issue in the last time phase after Mr. Burman Changed a text on the second floor after the power outtage to be more fitting to the situation. Fixed an issue, where the book shelf didn't display the lower shelf correctly, which interfered with the wall code riddle. Fixed wrong description in the Controls screen for gamepad controls and added Item Overview. We hope you enjoy the update. We also now published a bundle with both Wait games, in case you're missing the other one. Wait: Full Story Bundle

Wait: The Patient releases on the 9th of January

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45126900/88dde8be401a1f493d50857e4ba2f64278c93aac.png Hello everyone! We're happy to (finally) announce that Wait: The Patient will release on the 9th of January 2025. We are truly sorry that it is way later than we initially said and for the lack of transparency in the meantime. If it were up to us entirely, we'd release it earlier, but as a super small indie team, releasing in December, we'd just be crushed by the big companies sales and releases. That's why we pushed it to January. We hope you look forward to it anyway. We wish you good rest of the week.
