About the Game
Wretch: Divine Ascent is a 1v1 tactical auto battler game in a dark medieval style that was inspired by Backpack Battles and developed with Unreal Engine. Mix and match items in your backpack to create powerful combos. Purchase a variety of helpful items such as equipment, accessories, and moves from the shop, and fuse them to obtain special items that cannot be bought. Be careful—some moves can counter each other! Getting the right combination of moves and equipment will be your key to victory.
A New Challenger Steps onto the Ascent — The Executioner
Wielding a massive hammer, the Executioner channels raw power through charged strikes, bringing the heaviest despair upon their opponents.

You dive into backpack management right from the first match. Purchase moves, items, and equipment from the shop and formulate your best strategy. Your items can be combined to give powerful effects, and you can even fuse items to gain unique creations that no shop can provide off the rack. Choose your combinations carefully to give yourself the sharpest edge in your battles!
In the game, multiple characters are available for you to choose from: Knight, Plague Doctor, Ronin, Wujiang, and the latest to ascend the Long Stairs—Pirate.
The characters have distinct features and cool styles that are further emphasized in the strategies and moves employed in battle. Use your backpack items to give your attacks unique buffs such as critical hits, speed boosts, and block enhancements. Connecting moves well will be crucial for victory—avoid moves that might counter each other, and build combos to allow you to quickly launch follow-up attacks after breaking through your opponent's guard.
You undergo up to 10 battles per game, each against real players. Slash and slice your opponents in a bloody 1v1 fight to the finish. Players can battle at any time with no need to wait for an opponent to be online. After you win 10 battles in a game, you gain the chance to challenge the best players on the global leaderboard. The current demo version includes a 10-Win Honor leaderboard, where you can keep an eye on the enemy and make plans to rise to the top in Divine Ascent. Stay sharp—they're watching too.

About the Version
Currently, there are 5 playable classes available, along with nearly 300 diverse items, gear, and attacks to choose from and combine.. We will continue improving and updating it as we progress in our game development.

New Character: Swordswoman | Wretch 2.0 Reveal #8
Greetings, warriors!Previously, we shared the concept design of a new female character while keeping her weapon hidden for the time being, leaving everyone to guess what she would wield.Today, it’s finally time for the reveal: the new character joining Wretch: Divine Ascent is the Swordswoman, and her weapon of choice is a two-handed greatsword. (Bigger and heavier than the Knight’s sword.)Concept Art – Not Representative of Final QualityFor those of you who joined in the guessing before—did anyone get it right? In addition to her weapon, the Swordswoman will also feature two special mechanics: “Quick Activation” and “Full-Power Heavy Strike.”These mechanics mainly affect the startup and recovery of her attacks. So even with a greatsword in hand, she can still be surprisingly agile in certain situations.Concept Art – Not Representative of Final QualityHow can a two-handed greatsword “move quickly”? And how should “Full-Power Heavy Strike” be combined with different moves to bring out its full potential? We’ll reveal more about how these two mechanics work and how they perform in combat in future updates. Stay tuned!Read full article on Community Announcements (JaYan)Community & EventsOfficial

“The Byways.” Wretch 2.0 Reveal #6
Greetings, warriors. We’ve been sharing glimpses of the maps, new characters, and gameplay coming in 2.0. This time, we’d like to briefly introduce the lore behind our PvE mode. For now, we’re calling this new mode “The Byways.”The name comes from a question you may have pondered amid your PvP battles: What became of those who could climb no further?Along the edges of the Divine Ascent, the lingering resentment of the fallen gathers, slowly forming the Byways.Within them, you will encounter shadows left behind by past tragedies. The fear of victims, the cruelty of tormentors, and the fervor of onlookers can all take shape as “Dreadshades” that attack intruders. Deeper within, an “Anchor” holds this suffering in place, forcing the same tragedy to unfold again and again. The boss we introduced previously, the Lord of the Prison Gates, is one such being. His prison will be the first doorway into the Byways.Once inside a Mind Prison, your task is to search for relics and bring them back before your way out is lost. You will venture within, gather forgotten possessions, and uncover buried histories. From the moment you enter, the doorway begins to narrow. Searching, lingering, and fighting disturb the beings within, while passages gradually collapse. Venture deeper, and you may find more precious relics; fight one more battle, and escape may become that much harder.“Just one more search, then I’ll leave.” In here, you may want to think twice before saying that.PvP and PvE fully complement each other within the lore. Following this thread, you can become a passing traveler in the Byways, seeking out rare treasures and using them to grow stronger. From the lore to the gameplay, everything is built around a shared vision of the world.PvE is currently in development and testing. We see it as an extension of PvP and of the game as a whole, offering a new experience that remains closely woven into the lore. We’ll continue to share more news. Thank you for following along!Read full article on Community Announcements (JaYan)AnnouncementsOfficial
