About this game

ASKET is an open world shooter, with life simulation. Fill into the atmosphere of survival, in the ruins, of the mystical post-Soviet world.

The game is being developed by one person and is in the early stages of development, with the story and gameplay constantly evolving.

IN THE DEAD ZONE

You are left almost alone in the danger anomaly zone! The game has a lot of combat and well-developed combat without weapons, melee weapons and firearms. "Arsenal" is gradually moving from "knife" to "RPG7".

ANOMALIES, ARTIFACTS AND "CROSSROADS"

A dead city is a forgotten city - a ghost, built around a city-forming enterprise.

The company produced everything from soap to sausage. But after the collapse the enterprise began to fade away, the population began to slowly die out and mutate, becoming part of the dying city. Over time, the withering spread further and further, forming a “dead zone”.

  • Explore the dead zone and its surroundings.

  • Study anomalies, stock up “artifacts”, that help in survival.

  • Travel through the anomalous world of "Crossroads", which will help with fast travel.

MORE THAN A SHOOTER

Create a character as you wish, write a backstory, develop perks, change factions, use almost a hundred inventory items that have their own animation and unique mechanics!

LIVING WORLD

The world is completely interactive and obeys its own rules. Everything can be broken, cut into pieces. The time of day and weather change, loot is generated, and life simulation is implemented.

WEAPON SELECTION

The arsenal includes 30 types of weapons with random generation from “rusty” to “straight from the factory” and more than a hundred “attachments”.

Install stock, attach a bayonet and attack closely, explode with a grenade launcher, use different sights (collimator, optical, digital, nvs, thermal imaging), install silencers and flame arresters, change magazines.

FULL IMMERSION

An honest body with its own limitations has been implemented, armor can be changed, all interactions with the environment are animated, parkour has been implemented. The character has 25 survival states (hunger, fatigue, radiation, etc.) which also has visual effects.

    Update 0.4

A new green biome has been added, and the graphics have been reworked. I'm also developing more user-friendly tools for the open world. Improved draw distance, remove loading, and compilation—everything works in real time. I'm trying to overcome stuttering inherent to the engine. This is necessary for the truly large world I'm trying to create. Autumn has been added. The season changes at the start game, or automatically after a month. The weather has been reworked to preserve the original atmosphere of the game. Optimization is also important. As graphics detail increases and the world size, frame rate slightly drops, but 1060/2060 graphics cards run at minimum settings. If anything changes, I'll let you know on the Steam page.

    Update 0.38

Added a physics-based bike to make it easier to move around the world in the second half of the game (by the way, it will also have upgrades and you will be able to attach a map or detector). I'll show you more details when I finish the open world.Added TV. There are several "state" TV channels that are usually silent (but sometimes the signal gets through jammers). You can collect cassettes scattered in secret places and use a tape recorder. The recordings contain both "post - soviet memes" (added by "mods", so as game not to violate intellectual property), and things important for the lore. Experiments of scientists, the life of local "settlers", etc.Work on the open world is also slowly underway, added new biome, but this system is too complex, it cannot be done quickly. Added night vision device. Tried to make physically correct shader so that it would react to light correctly, glitches, and lens imitated. In the last video I added an fps counter, many people write "the game is on UE5, there are probably 5 fps and you need a 5080ti, we've already seen this in other projects". It’s not needed, I’m a programmer first and foremost, and I worry a lot about the technical state of the game, redoing many things 3-5-10 times. For example, I recently spent a 2 month completely rebuilding the systems, folders, and engine to make them even more flexible and simple. This work is invisible, but it is important for the development of large games and allows me to work on such a project alone. Project is alive and actively developing, I plan to move on to a large video format.

    Update 0.35

Reworked the inventory to the best suited for survival games (cells, scales, bags, pouches, etc.). This is just a sketch, I will still be improving the inventory for a long time Added bags New Arsenal : SKS Added a new pistol class (PM, TT, Beretta, Glock, Deagle and others) I'm currently working on improving the environment and introducing new biomes, as the quality of the pre-alpha doesn't satisfy me. I'm writing new high-quality shaders for the ground, water, and everything else. I'll show more in the next updates.

    Update | 0.33

Added weapon customization. You can change everything detail, except the internal parts (there is a separate system with weapon perks for this) Added difficulty selection mode and detailed settings. Sorry for the missing localization in the screenshots / video. I tried to make it convenient for both casual and hardcore players. There is a balanced difficulty "intended by the developer" and a "custom" for those like to experiment. (more settings will be added in the future). The arsenal of weapons has been reworked and expanded. Currently, there are more than 20 types of weapons in the arsenal (I will expand over time) That's all that's "stable" for now. Still struggling with Unreal Engine 5, but I don't plan to stoped :)
