About this game
Take control of the New Guy during his first few days at the local clown-owned ice-cream parlor, Dairy Clown. Create frozen concoctions for your customers by applying toppings as the ice-cream goes whizzing past on a conveyor belt -- but watch out for Clown Mode, which will cause everything to shift around and speed up!
This game uses photographs taken with a Game Boy Camera for character portraits and some key graphics, and was built in the span of 2 weeks for the Big Mode Game Jam. This new version contains numerous bugfixes and a new ending variation if you receive a perfect score across all 3 days of the story.
Pierrot à la Mode features a runtime of approximately 15-20 minutes, three different endings, and will give you a small glimpse of what life was like in Divinity City before the Upgrade Virus hit. Enjoy a bite-sized look at Elyris and its strange inhabitants in this precursor to Gas Station Story!

log 11 - Final Major Update
Hello! I'm finally here with that promised extension on the Perfect Ending! Much later than I had hoped, but finishing Gas Station Story took priority (and recovering afterwards, it really burnt me out). I've been wanting to get this bit of story written out and inserted into the Gas Station Story-adjacent universe for a while now, as it ties a lot of things together and sets the foundation for the future, and now it's here for you to enjoy! Alongside Gas Station Story's new Anniversary Update comes a refresh for Pierrot à la Mode. I've modified some small things to better match the style of GSS (mostly just changing the dialogue boxes outline + continuation arrow), as well as fixed some dialogues to read a little bit more clearly. As for that new ending... Before, if you managed to get a perfect score across the entire game, you'd see the Cashier Clown and the New Guy get sucked into the Q Boy. Now, you'll get to see what happens to them IN the Q Boy during that ending, with a neat scene that explicitly ties the ending into Gas Station Story, and a post-credit scene that ties both games into my next project... I've been thinking about spinning this tale about the Wizard of Elyris into its own title, but I think leaving it vague and mysterious is more effective while I work on the next chapter of the story. Don't worry, I promise all will be revealed in time, but for now... This is the most I'm going to show you of what happened before GSS! (and for eagle-eyed viewers of the new GSS trailer, you might even see a clip of this new ending) All of that said, I do want to apologize for locking this content behind a perfect run. Hopefully a talented player will record it and upload online for all to see, but if not... Well, it is thematically appropriate given the dystopian setting our characters are in, no? Beyond the new content and style updates, I've also updated Pierrot à la Mode to better handle controller input. You should now be able to play the entire game withou...Read full article on Community Announcements (enzi)Patch NotesOfficial
log 10 - Version 1.3 Update & Gas Station Story’s Release Date
Hello! As promised, I’m back with an update to your favorite little clown-and-ice-cream-themed Game Boy Color game (that’s niche enough to not be a huge stretch to assume it’s your favorite, right?) — Unfortunately there’s no new content in this update, but we’ve got some major quality of life improvements! Thanks to GreenFox and his GodotBoy project, we’ve built a brand new wrapper complete with controller support, some accessibility settings, and more. I’ve also managed to finally get saving working on this version (cloud saves as well!), so that has been re-enabled for the PC builds. It’ll be much easier to get that perfect ending now ;)Additionally, Gas Station Story comes out NEXT WEEK! It officially goes live at 9am PST on Monday, June 23rd — with a nice little 10% discount to celebrate the launch. It’s been a long road to get here, and I hope you enjoy what I’ve crafted. I’m looking forward to hearing what you all think! Check out the launch trailer here!As always, thanks for reading this far. See you all next week! Free-to-Play Announcement
Hey there! I’ve decided to switch Pierrot à la Mode to Free to Play, and I wanted to talk about why that is in case anybody is curious. Originally, my research told me that free games / demos on Steam don’t translate well to paid sales further down the line, and as this game is essentially a prequel to Gas Station Story (which will be a paid product), I figured it should at least have a small price tag so people aren’t surprised when GSS releases. I also was hoping to gather some funds that would aid me in completing GSS, as I need to commission more music for the final release, as well as pay for things like code signing so I can distribute the Windows app outside of Steam. However, I’ve noticed that there are a disproportionate amount of wishlists to purchases (not to mention itch.io, which has had 0 sales), even when the game goes on sale to 50% off. I think I may have screwed up my evaluation of how much this 15-20 minute game was worth. I was hoping the $1.99 price tag would allow the game to still be accessible to interested parties, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Which is fair! There are hundreds of games out there that are cheaper or free and offer dozens of hours of replayability, versus the 20-30 minutes you might get out of Pierrot à la Mode (x3 endings). And even in comparison to Gas Station Story, which runs about 4-6 hours per playthrough (x26 endings), that $1.99 for a half hour doesn’t match with whatI’m expecting to price Gas Station Story at. So! I’ve decided to switch Pierrot à la Mode to Free to Play, so that more people can have access to this short story and, hopefully, raise more awareness for Gas Station Story as well. As of right now, after roughly half a year of being live, I haven’t even sold enough copies to even cover the cost of listing the game on Steam, so I’m releasing it into the FtP realm to be enjoyed by whomever stumbles upon it. Alongside this, I’ll be archiving the 1.0 version into the ether (my hard drive) as 1.1 will b...Read full article on Community Announcements (enziproductionsllc)AnnouncementsOfficial
Pierrot á la Mode is Now Available!
Hello there! Welcome to the Steam page for my first (completed) project, Pierrot à la Mode. I originally made this game in 2023 for the Big Mode Game Jam, and completed the first version of the game within the span of two weeks. This game uses photos taken with the Game Boy Camera for each level’s title card and for every character portrait during dialogue sequences. The photos were originally in 4-tone green, like the first Game Boy, with color added after the fact in GB Studio. However, all of the character effects are practical! I purchased clown makeup and the noses, and reused a couple of masks that I bought during the production of Gas Station Story. Beyond removing the backgrounds each character was photographed in, the pixels are straight from the GB Cam. Speaking of, Pierrot à la Mode is meant to serve as a sort of prequel to the events of Gas Station Story, a similarly styled project I’ve been working on for a couple of years now. Thematically, the games don’t share much beyond having the same Point-of-Sale system (hint hint) and touching on the woes of working in customer service. The new build of the game includes a revitalized Clown Mode that functions as I originally envisioned, as well as numerous bugfixes and a new ending variation if you achieve a perfect score -- this new ending will give you a bit of a hint towards what's coming in the back half of Gas Station Story. Good luck at pulling off a perfect score! I struggle with it myself. I’m working on a way to have this Steam version save between levels, but haven’t quite cracked it yet. Some day I'll be returning to this project to show you what happens to the Dairy Clown crew after that new special ending, but that's a story for another time. In the meantime, I’ll be continuing development on Gas Station Story and trying to figure out why the Electron Wrapper doesn’t like my .sav files. Thanks so much for playing! Changelog (V1.1 - PC) Global: - Electron wrapper completed - Performance enhancement...Read full article on Community Announcements (enziproductionsllc)
