In God Save Birmingham, navigate the ruins of medieval Birmingham as you fend off flesh-hungry ghouls. Use your wits and the environment to survive in this action-packed, early access indie simulation from Ocean Drive Studio.

About this game

God Save Birmingham is a physics-driven zombie survival simulator set in medieval Birmingham, England. As the town’s only survivor, you must scramble to fulfill your everyday needs, while avoiding the grasping hands and rotten teeth of your former friends and neighbors.

A HISTORICAL TOWN WITH A HELLISH TWIST

Explore a painstakingly rendered and reimagined medieval market town, now teeming with undead. But don’t let that stop you from seeing the sights! Drop by the historic Bull Ring, grab a bite to eat at the markets, or take a moment to rest at Saint Martin’s Church. Just remember to bar the doors first.

PHYSICS THAT MATTER

Almost every object in the game can be moved or manipulated to aid your chances of survival. Barricade a door with a dining table, grab a barrel and go bowling for zombies, or set a rushlight on the ground to light the room while you sleep.

But the laws of nature also apply to you. Trip over a ledge, and you may lose your weapon. Fall from too high, and you might break your leg.

HARDCORE SURVIVAL GAMEPLAY

With the town in chaos, simply staying alive is a struggle. You’ll have to scavenge food, secure clean drinking water, keep warm, seek shelter at night, and try not to fall ill, all while dealing with a constant undead siege.

But man does not live by bread alone. You’ll also have to manage your mental state to avoid lapsing into despair or madness. You can also level up various survival-related skills by continuously practicing them, including mastery over certain weapon types.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

With no one left to stop you, the real estate market has become… flexible. Seek out your choice of shelter, secure doors and windows, then cozy the place up to make it your own. With the right tools and scavenged resources, you can craft weapons, fixtures, and furniture to make any building your home — including door latches, barricades, bonfires, and a whole lot more.

THE MORE THE MERRIER

Tired of being the lone survivor? Hop into online co-op with friends to take on the zombie threat together. After a long day of scavenging and crafting, gather around a pot of hot porridge to share fireside tales. Slated for Early Access, multiplayer will allow a group of players to join a single session and team up for everyone’s survival in the sandbox environment.

CBT Results Are In: Here's What's Next

Survivors,The Closed Beta gave us the largest pile of player feedback in the game's history. We've now finished working through the survey responses, videos, streams, Discord, and Steam comments, and as promised, we want to share the results with the people who created them: you.Whether you fought your first zombie this beta or you've been breaking our builds since Pre-Alpha, we thank you. A test at this scale tells us things no internal playtest ever could, and every one of these numbers exists because you took the time to answer honestly.A special shout-out goes to our Core Group testers. The candid, detailed feedback you gave us between tests drove many of the changes that made these Closed Beta results possible — thank you for helping us get here. •   67,000+ players took part in the Closed Beta!•   30% of the players were from the USA, 11% from Germany, and 7% from the UK—home of Birmingham!•   1,412 peak concurrent players without co-op!•   Sign-ups came from all seven continents. Yes, that includes Antarctica!•   2,698 survey responses were completed. 2,345 by first-timers, 353 from veterans of earlier tests!•   99% of respondents wanted to be invited back! On top of that, an enormous amount of YouTube and Twitch coverage brought the game to audiences far beyond our own channels ever could. We've collected some of our favorite videos and streams at the end of this post. They deserve your views. Do Players See Our Vision and Like It?Every survey we run asks you to grade the game from 0 to 10 across the same set of categories, which lets us track progress test over test. When we asked how much fun the game is overall, we leaped to our highest score yet. It wasn't just fun. When asked whether “Medieval Zombie Survival Simulator with Physics” describes the game you actually played, you gave us an 8.61 with 57% of you rating it a 9 or 10. And after playing, 70% of you said your expectations for the game went up, while only 4% said they dropped. The vision and the ...

Thanks for an Amazing Beta Test!

Survivors,  Hard to believe, but it’s already been more than 10 days since our first public beta test wrapped up. We’ve run several tests before with a passionate group of early testers, but this was our first time opening the game to everyone without an NDA. Safe to say, the team was both excited and pretty nervous. Once we started reading through all the thoughtful feedback, we felt a huge sense of relief. At the same time, it reminded us how much we want to deliver something great and make sure we don’t let you down at launch. We received a ton of feedback through the survey, Discord, social channels, and the Steam Community. While we couldn’t respond to every comment individually, please know that we read everything you shared. To be honest, we received a lot more feedback than we expected, so it’s taking us a bit of time to thoroughly review everything, align as a team, and determine our development priorities, future playtests, and release schedule.Once we have a clearer plan, we’ll share more in a future dev log. Since that is taking a bit longer than expected, we wanted to check in, say thank you, and let you know that your feedback is already helping us make better decisions for the game. Thank you for helping make our first public beta test such a meaningful milestone. We truly appreciate all of your feedback--both positive and critical--as well as your bug reports and words of encouragement. We’ll be back soon with more details about what’s next for God Save Birmingham. Until then, please keep sharing your feedback, questions, and anything else you’d like to talk about with us on Discord and the Steam Community. We’ve also seen many of you asking about the next test. If you don’t want to miss it, please follow our Steam Community and subscribe to our email updates from our website! Until next time!-ODS Team
